Greetings folks! Welcome to For Your Consideration, a weekly video and audio podcast with a lot of blunt, open and uncensored thoughts and opinions on the biggest movies and movie news.
On this week’s installment of the show John and Dennis are joined by George Roush, Associate Editor of AMC Theatres Script-To-Screen. Together the group discusses The Thing, a little Footloose, the woman who is suing FilmDistrict over the movie Drive because she says the trailers made it look like Fast and Furious instead of what it really is… does she have a point? We also discuss who could possibly end up playing Bruce Willis’ son in the upcoming Die Hard 5, wonder if Michael Bay could end up returning to Transformers after all and talk about the pros and cons of theaters that have pre-selected seating. All this and a few things more after the jump.

On this installment of For Your Consideration John, Dennis and Soul Video discuss:
And many things more. Hit the jump to watch.

On this installment of For Your Consideration John celebrates the triumphant victory of his Buffalo Bills over Soul and Steve’s Patriots, we talk about the enormous success of The Lion King being back in the theaters and if it says anything about the debate about the in theater movie going experience vs. the home theater experience and which the general movie going audience prefers. We also look at Taylor Lautner’s Abduction and if Lautner could really be one of the next great action stars. We talk a little Brad Pitt and the fall out of his recent comments about his former wife Jennifer Aniston and how that may affect Moneyball. All this and a few things more.

We also take the task the new images of Henry Cavill in the Superman outfit, George Lucas making even more changes to Star Wars, Eddie Murphy potentially hosting the next Oscars and a few things more. I hope you’ll pardon the “Top 5′s” lack of punctuality this week. I just returned from a set visit in Louisiana and WiFi was at a premium throughout most of my travels. Although I can say almost nothing about the visit as of now, just know that I arrived there just a touch on the cynical douche side and left really looking forward to the next entry in an iconic horror franchise.
With that out of the way, let’s get to the reason we’re all here: the stories. In this week’s installment, you’ll find fifteen things to know about Summit Entertainment’s upcoming alien invasion pic The Darkest Hour, a dinner/interview with Paul‘s Simon Pegg and Greg Mottola, a recap of the Alamo Drafthouse’s screening of the original Fright Night featuring a Q&A with director Tom Holland, Bryan Cranston talking Breaking Bad, Drive, his near appearance in X-Men: First Class among other things, and the latest iteration of our video/audio podcast For Your Consideration. You’ll find brief recaps and links to all of the above after the jump.

On this week’s episode the panel talks newly released films such as the much critically maligned new comedy The Change Up (some of us didn’t dislike it, and one of us loved it) and the highly anticipated Rise of the Planet of the Apes. We also discuss the news of Green Lantern 2 and the direction they’re going with it, as well as Star Trek 2 and why J.J. Abrams says there’s no release or production start date set and we debate his answer. All this and more. Hit the jump to watch.

As you know, there was no For Your Consideration last week as all of our panelists were off at the San Diego Comic-Con. In that time Captain America and Friends With Benefits got released, and this weekend a very funny and quite unpredictable thing happened at the box office… Smurfs tied with Cowboys & Aliens at the box office. So with Comic-Con behind us it’s time to get ourselves caught up. In this week’s episode, we talk about the Battleship trailer, Captain America, we break down the superhero movies of this summer and rank them in order of preference, Smurfs, Cowboys & Aliens, The Devil’s Double, Crazy, Stupid, Love. and Friends With Benefits. Hit the jump to watch.

This week, I’m bringing you the “Top 5″ from the lucky 13th floor of a hotel located in beautiful San Diego. I mention that only because on any typical weekend I would be writing from the suffocating heat of the Midwest and it’s just nice to remind myself of how happy I am to be able to walk outside without instantly sweating from every pore. But I digress…
In this week’s “Top 5″ installment, we have more Comic-Con coverage than you can shake a stick at (Do people still use that idiom? More importantly, is it actually an idiom?), trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man, the return of our video blog/podcast For Your Consideration, and an exclusive video interview with Captain America: The First Avenger‘s lovely star, Hayley Atwell. Hit the jump for brief recaps and links to each.

This week is clearly Harry Potter week in the movie world as the final installment of the beloved franchise took in a record breaking $168 million on its opening weekend alone. This week on the show regular panelists Steve “Frosty” Weintraub, Dennis Tzeng and John Campea are joined by Movieline’s west coast editor Jen Yamato. Together they discuss the final chapter of Harry Potter, the new Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer (and was it really needed) and the upcoming massive pop culture event COMIC CON! On this installment of For Your Consideration, the hallowed table is comprised of John Campea (that’s me) of AMC Theatres.Com, Dennis Tzeng of Think Hero.Com, Jennings Roth Cornet of Screen Rant.Com and Jon “Soul Video” Green and we are joined by special guest Jenna Busch. We finally hear about Soul’s take on Transformers, screaming matches over our interpretations of “action”, Zookeeper, Horrible Bosses, The Hobbit, how baboons mate…and a lot more. We’re now in the sixth week of the “Top 5″ feature and I’m glad to report that it’s becoming popular enough that it looks as if I’m going to get to keep my job. Briefly, I’d like to thank the Academy (that doesn’t know I exist), my agent (that I don’t have), family and friends (luckily I have those), and the readers for making me a little less disposable than I was six weeks ago. Now, onto the important stuff.
In this week’s installment, you can find our exclusive Saturn Awards interview with Thomas Jane, a hilariously bizarre trailer for the 1990 Captain America film, our report from the Alamo Drafthouse’s Party Down marathon, Neil Gaiman talking American Gods on a book appearance celebrating the release of its 10th anniversary special hardcover edition, and our inaugural hosting of the For Your Consideration weekly video and audio podcast. Hit the jump for brief recaps and links to each.

After deciding that “Yo, Give Us an Oscar” was a bad way to kick-start an awards marketing campaign for a film, studios went with what are known as “For Your Consideration” ads which usually appear in the print versions of “Variety” and “The Hollywood Reporter”. I always find it interesting to see which films think they’re good enough for an Oscar and which ones are completely delusional. However, the first one out the gate, “A Serious Man” is already a strong contender. And while this ad may not have the words “For Your Consideration” stamped across the top, we’ll be seeing those ads soon enough. Seriously.
Hit the jump to check out the ad and we’ll be bringing you more of the standouts as award season heats up.
