After eight seasons, the hit Fox drama House comes to an end with its series finale on May 21st. Following a one-hour retrospective special that will look back at this groundbreaking series and feature interviews with the series’ stars and producers, the emotional series finale, directed by series creator/executive producer David Shore, with find the team treating a drug addict patient (guest star James LeGros) that results in Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) examining his life, his future and his own personal demons.

During this recent interview to reflect on the end of the popular TV show, David Shore talked about what he’d most like the show to be remembered for, how fans of the series can expect a bittersweet ending, why the House/Wilson friendship has endured, the biggest surprises of the show’s success, how proud he is of what they accomplished over eight seasons, what it was like to direct the final episode, and that he never had an endgame planned out from the beginning, but that things never veered too far off of his original vision. He also talked about his plan to continue in television and develop something new, and that he is looking forward to exploring new characters, new ideas and a new setting. Check out what he had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

HULK May Be on ABC Next Year; THE PUNISHER TV Series Not Moving Forward at Fox

It’s upfronts week, and we’ve already gotten a look at the upcoming fall schedules for NBC, Fox, and ABC.  However, we’ve now got word on a couple of comic book series that weren’t on any of said schedules.  A Hulk television series has been in development at ABC for a while with Guillermo del Toro onboard as executive producer.  ABC president Paul Lee had this to say regarding Hulk:

“Hulk is in development.  It wasn’t going to be ready this season, but we hope it’s going to be ready for next season.”

With word that Marvel might be planning a new Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo following the stellar reaction to the character/Ruffalo’s performance in The Avengers, many wondered what this meant for the TV series.  It sounds like ABC is very much still game for the show, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a Hulk movie is held until the studio sees how the TV series fares.  Hit the jump for more, including word on The Punisher TV series.

Watch Full Trailers for New Fox Dramas THE MOB DOCTOR and Kevin Williamson’s Serial Killer Series THE FOLLOWING, Starring Kevin Bacon

Fox unveiled their new lineup for fall 2012 earlier this morning, and we recently posted full trailers for the network’s new comedy shows.  Now it’s time to take a look at Fox’s new dramas, and Kevin Williamson’s (Scream, The Vampire Diaries) serial killer series The Following is most certainly a standout.  The trailer is genuinely chilling, and Kevin Bacon stars as an FBI agent who is reeled back into the department after a notorious serial killer (James Purefoy) he put away years ago escapes from death row. The serial killer creates a network of communicating with other active serial killers in the country, thus creating quite the problem for Bacon’s character.  Sadly, the series doesn’t debut until midseason so we’ll have to wait a while to check out the full pilot, but I’m beyond intrigued by this trailer.

The other new Fox drama, The Mob Doctor, is decidedly less promising.  Jordana Spiro (My Boys) stars as a Chicago surgeon with a lifelong debt to the Southside mob.  I wasn’t particularly taken by any of the characters, but I presume the series could eventually prove promising.  Hit the jump to watch the trailers.

Watch Full Trailers for New Fox Comedy Series BEN AND KATE, THE GOODWIN GAMES, and Mindy Kaling’s THE MINDY PROJECT

Earlier today, Fox announced the lineup for their fall 2012 scheduleGlee will now air on Thursday nights, and the network has created an all-comedy block on Tuesday nights with New Girl, Raising Hope, and two new comedy series.  The network has now unveiled full trailers for said comedy series (and one that debuts midseason), so we now have a better idea of what to expect from the network’s new offerings.  Despite having a terrible title, The Mindy Project actually looks really promising.  Kaling, who also created the series, stars as a young physician who’s trying to break some bad habits in her personal life.  Kaling is likeable and funny as the lead, and she’s buoyed by a strong supporting cast that includes Chris Messina (Damages) and Richard Schiff (The West Wing).  The Bill Hader and Ed Helms cameos don’t hurt either.  I like what I’ve seen, and it looks like The Mindy Project should make for a fine companion to New Girl on Tuesday nights.

Hit the jump to watch the trailers for all the new Fox comedies, including two other promising additions: Midseason series The Goodwin Games from How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and the sibling comedy Ben and Kate.

Yesterday we got a look at what NBC will be offering by way of scheduling and new series this fall, and now Fox has announced their upcoming 2012 schedule.  As far as shifts for returning series go, the Kiefer Sutherland drama Touch has been moved to Fridays, while Ryan Murphy’s Glee (which has been on a ratings downslide as of late) has been put in the post-X Factor/American Idol slot on Thursday nights.  Moreover, the network announced that Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson will be doing guest star arcs on Glee for the show’s upcoming fourth season.

As far as new shows go, The Office star Mindy Kaling’s new show, currently titled The Mindy Project (hopefully a temporary title), and the new ensemble comedy Ben and Kate will join Raising Hope and the hit Zooey Deschanel series New Girl on Tuesdays for an all-comedy night.  I’m a huge fan of New Girl and I’m hoping The Mindy Project will be a nice companion show.  Another high profile new series, Kevin Williamson’s serial killer show The Following starring Kevin Bacon, has been slated to premiere at midseason.  Hit the jump to get a look at the full Fox schedule.

Fox Renews FAMILY GUY and AMERICAN DAD, But THE CLEVELAND SHOW Future is Uncertain

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: May 10th, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Well, at least part of Seth MacFarlane‘s portion of the Animation Domination line-up can celebrate today. EW has word that Fox has renewed Family Guy for an eleventh season and American Dad for an eighth season, each consisting of the standard 22 episodes. That means the Smith and Griffin households are happy, but the Brown family isn’t thrilled, at least not yet, as Fox is holding off on a decision to renew The Cleveland Show for now.

It’s not clear if they’re waiting until the upfronts to announce it (why not just hold all this information until then?) or if they’re waiting until the last possible minute to bring it back. Honestly, the animated series started strong, but it’s never reached the caliber of Family Guy or American Dad (which is vastly underrated and sometime better than the former MacFarlane series). Apparently there’s enough episodes in the works to keep The Cleveland Show going for a fourth season, so a decision might not necessarily come soon. Stay tuned as the upfronts get closer and more information becomes available on all series renewals and new series pick-ups.

Much to the happiness of its devoted fanbase, Fox recently picked up the sci-fi drama Fringe for a fifth and final 13-episode season, allowing the series to provide the climactic conclusion that it’s been heading towards.  The two-part finale, airing on May 4th and 11th, will see the Fringe team pushed to their breaking point, as they face off against David Robert Jones (Jared Harris) and desperately attempt to prevent a catastrophic event that threatens the lives of everyone.

During this recent interview to discuss the remainder of this season, showrunners/executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman talked about how much the fan and social media support has meant to them, the impact the final episodes of this season could have on Season 5, their hope that they’ll get Leonard Nimoy back for the final season, that contrary to what has been reported there was no alternate ending that was shot in case the show didn’t get picked up, what they were doing when they found out they would get a final 13 episodes to finish telling this story, that they definitely know where and how the series is going to end and what they’re saying with the final season, and that they hope to continue the story with some comic books, once all is said and done.  Check out what they had to say after the jump.

Fox CEO Tom Rothman Says THE WOLVERINE Will Shoot in Australia and Japan; Calls it the “True, Berserker, Bad Ass Wolverine”

All throughout last week, we brought you updates on a number of 20th Century Fox projects gleaned from Steve’s wide-ranging interview at CinemaCon with the studio’s CEO, Tom Rothman.  The exec talked about a New Mutants movie, the rating of Prometheus, the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel, A Good Day to Die Hard, and gave updates on Fantastic Four, Daredevil, and Chronicle 2.  Today we have one last update to share, and it concerns a highly anticipated Fox property.

During the interview, Steve asked Rothman for a status update on the sequel The WolverineJames Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) is onboard to direct and after a number of delays, production is finally slated to get underway later this year once Hugh Jackman wraps Les Miserables.  Rothman revealed that filming will take place in Australia and Japan, and reassured fans that we’re in for a very hardened Wolverine.  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

FRINGE Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: April 26th, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Much to the relief of plenty of fans, Fox has renewed Fringe for a fifth and final season.  It’s no secret that the show isn’t exactly a ratings smash, but the series has picked up considerable critical acclaim throughout its four-season run thus far.  Per TV Line, Fringe will return next season for a final run of 13 episodes, allowing it to reach the magic 100-episode number that makes it eligible for the lucrative business of syndication.  Fox president Kevin Reilly had this to say about the order:

“Bringing it back for a final 13 allows us to provide the climactic conclusion that its passionate and loyal fans deserve.”

Since the show was on the brink of cancellation, they show two endings to the current fourth season—one season finale, and one series finale.  Sadly, I stopped watching the show after only a couple of episodes so I can’t join in on the excitement that’s sure to come with this news, but I plan on catching up with the show sooner rather than later (thank you, Netflix).

20th Century Fox CinemaCon Recap: Ang Lee’s LIFE OF PI, TAKEN 2, NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, PROMETHEUS, and More

At this morning’s 20th Century Fox CinemaCon 2012 panel, Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos (Co-Chairman Fox Filmed Entertainment) world premiered footage from all their upcoming releases and talked about what they have coming up in the future.  While I was excited to see more of Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, and Liam Neeson kicking a lot of ass in Taken 2, the real surprise was Ang Lee‘s Life of Pi.  Called unfilmmable by anyone that’s read Yann Martel‘s 2001 novel about a boy and a tiger that get stranded at sea, the unfinished footage that Fox world premiered today was nothing short of stunning, and it was easily the highlight of their presentation.  While you might have wondered if Ang Lee could pull it off, based on what I saw today, Life of Pi is an early contender for Best Picture and all the other year end awards.  Hit the jump for more.

20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman Hints at NEW MUTANTS Movie in the Works

If you haven’t noticed from the sheer enormity of superhero coverage as of late, we currently live in a film environment that is flooded with comic book content.  The “superhero movie” genre is more popular than it’s ever been before, and as long as these movies keep making piles of money (they will), don’t expect the trend to die down any time soon.  While Marvel is currently getting much of the attention with its extremely prolific and interconnected series of films, 20th Century Fox revitalized the X-Men series last year with the wonderful X-Men: First ClassA sequel is in the works for that film, and production is gearing up to begin on a follow-up to the Wolverine spin-off, The Wolverine The studio owns a number of other Marvel characters, giving them the potential to make some truly exciting comic book movies.

Steve got the chance to sit down with Fox CEO Tom Rothman at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.  While they talked about a number of Fox properties throughout the course of the conversation (look for more updates here on the site soon), we wanted to bring you a tidbit of information that Rothman dropped about a feature film adaptation of a really fun Marvel property: The New Mutants.  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Fox Renews GLEE, NEW GIRL and RAISING HOPE for Another Season

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: April 9th, 2012 at 1:12 pm

fox_logo_slice

Before the season is even over, Fox is already looking to the future and just announced renewal for three of the network’s top comedy series. The musical series Glee, the freshman series New Girl, and the family comedy Raising Hope have all been renewed for another season.

Frankly, New Girl is the most thrilling announcement as it’s easily the best new comedy of the past season, and I can’t wait to see where it goes in the fall. Meanwhile, Glee has been trying my patience, and I don’t think I’ll be tuning in next season unless the end of this third season is top notch. Raising Hope just hasn’t fit into my viewing schedule, but if it’s getting a third season, maybe I’ll have to catch up. Either way, it sounds like Fox is pretty happy with its Tuesday comedy line-up. Executive Producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan Talk BONES and THE FINDER

by Christina Radish    Posted: April 4th, 2012 at 11:22 am

Already renewed for Season 8, the Fox drama series Bones returns in a new timeslot on Mondays with all-new episodes, starting with a very untraditional arrival of Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan’s (Emily Deschanel) baby daughter. In “The Prisoner in the Pipe,” a neighborhood is on edge when remains are found in the sewer, identified as a male fugitive who escaped from the penitentiary for financial fraud, and Booth and Brennan turn to an inmate for clues about the murder.

During this recent interview to promote the return of the show, executive producers Hart Hanson (who is also executive producer of The Finder) and Stephen Nathan talked about what it will be like for Booth and Brennan to work together and have a baby together, how they decide when a recurring character will come back for a specific episode, how the arrival of the baby will change things (or not) for the characters, the decision to skip over showing the development of the Booth and Brennan relationship before skipping straight to the pregnancy, what’s to come for the other characters, what might happen to the four stand-alone episodes that are in limbo with the shortened season, and whether other cast members might appear on The Finder, if that series gets another season. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

Fox Orders Eighth Season of BONES

The seventh season isn’t finished yet, and it actually isn’t returning from a quick break until April 2nd, but Fox just announced that Bones has been picked up for an eighth season already where it will hit a milestone 150 episodes. Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, says, “Over the past seven seasons, Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan and the incredible Bones cast and crew have redefined the traditional crime procedural with an irreverent and adventurous sensibility and I’m really happy to have this distinctive, fan-favorite on our schedule for another season.” However, if it’s only one season, I’m wondering if this could be the last season for Bones, much like this eighth season for House M.D. Hit the jump for the full press release.
