In his new film, The Eagle, Channing Tatum fulfills a childhood fantasy playing Marcus Aquila, the son of a Roman commander whose Ninth Legion vanished without a trace in the Scottish Highlands in 120 AD. When Marcus and his slave, Esca (Jamie Bell), set out to find out what happened, their dangerous and obsessive quest will push them beyond the boundaries of loyalty and betrayal, friendship and hatred, deceit and heroism.
Last week at a roundtable interview for The Eagle, Channing told us why he was attracted to the Roman epic action drama, what it was like working with director Kevin Macdonald, and how his dance training prepared him for the fight choreography. Channing also discussed his production company 33 & Out, his plans to get behind the camera and direct, and the kind of films he and production partner, Reid Carolin, plan to make including What’s Left of Us. He also updated us on what he has coming up next including The Son of No One that was just picked up at Sundance, Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, The Vow with Rachel McAdams, and what’s up with the G.I. Joe sequel. Hit the jump for the interview:

At the roundtable interviews this morning for The Eagle, Channing talked to us about his new movie. Another “hot” topic from the interview? Tatum scalding his “member” in hot water on the set. Channing told us about the painful incident that left him screaming in agony after he tried to stay warm on set during a freezing shoot in the Scottish Highlands.

Last summer’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was a fun ride that knew exactly what it was aiming for and managed to hit every mark. Much of that was thanks to director Stephen Sommers, who brought a childlike enthusiasm to the set every day. Now, despite rumors that a rift might have formed between Paramount and the adventure-loving director, The Wrap reports that Sommers has signed on to direct the sequel to Joe — if you enjoyed the first, you will have a lot to look forward to.
For those that didn’t quite enjoy the first film as much as they hoped, join me after the break to find out why you may want to get on board this time around.

Zombieland scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been a hot commodity recently, with news that they would not only write the upcoming Deadpool film, but also pen the G.I. Joe sequel. However, they recently sat down with MTV to discuss their sequel to Zombieland and had some interesting things to say.
Most notable is that they are interested in giving Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) a love interest, though they haven’t worked that out yet. Additionally, while they plan to keep the core group of Tallahassee (Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) together, there are plans to introduce new characters.
After the jump, see what they plan for 3D and the further adventures of Little Rock.

While some wondered how much “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” would make opening weekend, the film made over $56 million domestically and $44 million internationally. What that means is…it’s time to start thinking about a sequel!
And according to the LA Times article, Paramount’s Vice Chairman Rob Moore has confirmed that a sequel will soon go into development. What that really means is, if the film continues to perform at the box office, we’ll hear about a script being commissioned and a release date in 2011 or 2012 being picked. So I’d say a few more great weekends and it’s a done deal. With the film costing a reported $175 million to make plus marketing costs, it’s going to have to make at least $300 million before a sequel is greenlit. While some had a lot of problems with “G.I. Joe”, I wasn’t one of them. I’d love to see a sequel made. More as we get it.
