Continuing to make themselves the dominant force in streaming etnertainment to users, Netflix, Warner Bros. Television Group and CBS Corporation have just signed a four-year deal that will bring all prior seasons of The CW’s current scripted series and future shows to Netflix. That means all previous programming, and anything between now and the 2014-2015 season will be made available to watch instantly by Netflix users. The deal includes all drama series on the network’s 2011 schedule like Ringer, Hart of Dixie, The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatrual, Nikita and One Tree Hill.
All the previous season of The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Nikita will be available on October 15th while episodes of Supernatural and 90210 won’t arrive until January 2012. As for all the episodes airing on The CW this season, they will be made available in the fall of 2012, before the next season starts. However, any new series that appear on The CW after this point, will be made available through a commensurate window during that current season. Good news for anyone who likes them some programming from The CW and those who are eager to see Netflix continue to dominate the online entertainment market. As part of the TCA Press Tour presentation for The CW, President Mark Pedowitz took some time to talk about returning faces for the Fall, increased episode orders for a number of their already-established shows, the interest in developing other DC Comics properties now that Smallville has ended, and the possibility of remakes and re-boots of previous projects. Here are the most interesting points:
Hit the jump for more of what he had to say.

The season hasn’t even started yet, but The CW has preemptively decided to order more episodes of four of their returning series in spite of the fact that each of them already had a full season order. TV Line reports the network has ordered two more episodes for Gossip Girl and 90210 giving each series a 24-episode season while Supernatural and Nikita each got one more episode ordered for a 23-episode season. Apparently, this is an effort to keep the amount of reruns that show up during the mid-season to a minimum. If Vampire Diaries fans are wondering why more episodes weren’t ordered for the series, the post-production process makes additional episode orders a little more difficult (not to mention expensive). Otherwise, if you’re loving The CW and their ongoing series’, this news should come as a treat.

We’ve already heard that Danny Trejo was joining the fourth season of Sons of Anarchy this fall, but now a stranger name has entered the mix for the new season. TV Guide has learned that Baywatch lifeguard and cheeseburger coinesseur David Hasslehoff has landed a role on the FX drama. Even more weird is that he’ll be playing Dondo, a well-endowed former porn star who is now making major coin by producing sleazy girl-on-girl adult films. Apparently his career was given a bump thanks to Luanne (Dendrie Taylor) and so he “gets involved in a little dirty work in her memory.” Hasslehoff certainly has a sleazy nature about him in his old age, so this sounds like perfect casting.

We’ve already been given a closer look at the new series hitting The CW later this year along with the complete weekly schedule of all the series, old and new, airing this fall. Now the network has announced their official premiere dates for all their new and returning series for the 2011-2012 season. Finally, the following week will mark the return of Gossip Girl to its old timesplot on Monday, September 26th at 8/7c with the series premiere of Hart of Dixie coming afterwards at 9/8c. You can find the full press release after the jump along with a rundown of the premiere schedule. And if you need more information on any of the new series, be sure to check out our previous post from The CW’s upfronts presentation back in May.

With the end of the TV season winding down, there’s no time like the present to get fans excited for the next season. The CW is doing just that with their recent announcement to renew four of their scripted series for another season. The Vampire Diairies, the fan favorite Supernatural, the remade 90210 and Gossip Girl have all been given another season on the network. Apparently all of the series have been turning in great ratings and that’s always good. Oh, and if anyone cares, America’s Next Top Model has also been renewed for another season, but that’s just not our cup of tea.

Though there aren’t any new series that we care about joining The CW’s programming line-up in January, there’s likely plenty of people who will be interested in the new season of America’s Next Top Model. For information the season premiere of the reality series and an-all new one, you can hit the jump. However, the big news for fans of The CW’s most popular series comes from Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester. The actress revealed to E! Online that she will be leaving the show after her contract expires. That gives fans two more years of Meester living it up with the promiscuous upper class snobs of the popular series, so enjoy it while you can. If you don’t recognize Penn Badgley from one of his several roles in films like The Stepfather and John Tucker Must Die, its possible you might recognize him from a little show called Gossip Girl. In Screen Gems’ Easy A, Badgley plays Woodchuck Todd who doesn’t buy into all the rumors surrounding lead character Olive (Emma Stone). At the Easy A press junket, Badgley talked adolescence, working with a great cast, and what’s coming up on this season of Gossip Girl. The full interview lies after the jump.

Penn Badgley, one of television’s hottest young actors, dons blue paint and a woodchuck costume in his latest role as Woodchuck Todd, the school mascot, in Will Gluck’s hilarious new comedy, Easy A. Badgley’s irreverent character provides the emotional grounding for Emma Stone’s Olive, a self-assured senior whose life begins to parallel Hester Prynne’s in The Scarlet Letter when she’s thrust into the rumor mill after a little white lie elevates her to the status of high school slut.
For Badgley, best known for his role of Dan Humphrey in The CW’s hit series Gossip Girl, playing the part of Woodchuck Todd was so tempting, he arranged to fly between the west and east coasts to accommodate the shooting schedules for both the film and his series. The 23-year-old actor recently completed production on Margin Call, a thriller based on the events surrounding the country’s financial collapse, directed by J.C. Chandor and starring Stanley Tucci, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto and Simon Baker. More after the jump:

As we get closer to September, the networks are starting to release the first promos to tease the new seasons of their returning shows, and we thought you might find it useful if we gathered them all on Collider. The CW tends to kick off the fall season a bit earlier than the rest of the networks, which means at this stage in the game we have a fairly comprehensive early look. (Of course, a few marketing departments have risen to the challenge.) Check out promos for the new seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Smallville, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and 90210 after the jump.

IFC has announced via press release that they’ve acquired the syndication rights for two Judd Apatow-produced series, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. The notice is short (Freaks reruns start airing Friday July 2 at 11/10c), but the news is fantastic. Created by Paul Feig in 1999, the high school dramedy Freaks and Geeks was cancelled after one season but helped launch the careers of Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Jason Segel. The college sitcom Undeclared launched shortly after in 2001 with Jay Baruchel at the center, and likewise lasted only one season; Undeclared will debut on IFC in the fall.
After the jump, check out the fall premiere dates for such CW shows as The Vampire Diaries, Smallville, and Supernatural, as well as details on the Comic-Con visit of NBC conspiracy thriller The Event.

The CW officially released their 2010-11 schedule this morning, and as rumored, they sent the sixth season Supernatural to Fridays for a night of sci-fi along with what will be the final season of Smallville. Some other highlights:

It was but a week ago when Chris Evans was announced as the lead in The First Avenger: Captain America, putting an end to weeks of casting chaos. Featured in said chaos was Sebastian Stan, a relative unknown under serious consideration for the role of super soldier Steve Rogers up to the eleventh hour. Stan may have lost out on the role of a lifetime to Evans, but according to Heat Vision, Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston have prepared a lovely consolation prize for the Gossip Girl frequenting actor: they have awarded Stan the role of sidekick Bucky Barnes.
The Barnes character has quite the labyrinthine backstory in the comic mythology, which you can read about after the break.

The CW has announced early pickups for five series: The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural and America’s Next Top Model. These early renewal’s are not really a surprise as all five shows have done well for the network, with The Vampire Diaries being The CW’s most-watched show (it averages 4.6 million viewers a week). The best news for fans of the scripted shows is the writers can come up with a better finale since they now have more time.
The big question is…will Smallville survive for a 10th season? While most shows go to Friday nights to die, Smallville has averaged decent numbers and The CW might want to keep it around another year. We’ll know pretty soon.

Earlier today I saw the first Sundance screening of director Joel Schumacher’s Twelve, which stars Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts, 50 Cent, Ellen Barkin and Rory Culkin. If you’ve seen Gossip Girl, Twelve takes place in a similar world – super rich upper east side New Yorkers. Did the movie tell a new story in the high school genre? Is Joel Schumacher going to be forgiven for Batman & Robin? Hit the jump to see what Peter from Slashfilm and I thought of the film…
