Last week, Collider (along with a handful of other outlets) was invited to hang out at the L.A. offices of DC Entertainment and chat with comic book legend Grant Morrison.  Known for pushing boundaries, exploring the unknown, and redefining legendary heroes and concepts for classic and new audiences, the Scottish-born writer talked about why he loves writing for Batman and Superman, and the new books he’s working on for Wonder Woman and the universe-hopping Multiversity.

Grant Morrison also spoke to Collider for a few minutes about what it’s like to be a rock star of the comic book world, meeting one of the actors who’s played a character that he’s written for, the first comic book he ever read, and when he realized he could make a career out of writing comics.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

RZA‘s directorial debut, The Man with the Iron Fists, will hit theaters next month, and he’s already set to work on his follow-up.  According to Heat Vision, RZA is set to direct an adaptation of Grant Morrison‘s new comic book, Happy!  Morrison will write the script, and RZA will produce alongside Reginald Hudlin (Django Unchained).

Dinosaurs vs. Aliens is really a project that needs no introduction.  It centers on dinosaurs battling an alien invasion, you know, during dinosaur times.  Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld and comics writer Grant Morrison have teamed up to create the motion comic program, and now a trailer has landed online.  It provides only brief glimpses at the illustrations, but if anyone wants to see dinosaurs taking on alien invaders, here’s your chance.  Sonnenfeld hopes to turn the idea into a feature film, and he previously told Steve that it’d be a photorealistic CG movie in 3D.  Time will tell if the financing comes together to get Dinosaurs vs. Aliens on the big screen, but for now we’ll see the story play out in the motion comic format.  A graphic novel adaptation of Dinosaurs vs. Aliens is also on the way via Liquid.

How exactly did the dinosaurs go extinct? Was it the scientifically supported theory of a prehistoric bolide smashing into Earth and causing a gradual extinction? Or was it aliens? If you are excited by the prospect of the latter, then Barry Sonnenfeld and Grant Morrison’s new collaborative project, Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens, is for you! But just how are those aliens and dinosaurs going to communicate with the audience, you ask. Well, Sonnenfeld has graciously provided an answer to that burning question in a recent interview with io9.  His answers are almost weirder than you can imagine.  Hit the jump to see what he says.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld and acclaimed comics writer Grant Morrison (The Invisibles) are teaming up for Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens.  Sonnenfeld will direct and Morrison will write the graphic novel and the screenplay.  The story takes place on a secret pre-historic Earth where aliens invade and super-intelligent dinosaurs are the planet’s only hope.  If the aliens have a device that chucks giant meteors at the planet, then spoiler alert: they won.  Also, I’m not sure how highly-intelligent dinosaurs behave.  Do they smoke pipes and read The Economist?

While the premise does seem like it came about because someone saw a kid playing with his dinosaur and aliens toys, I find it somewhat intriguing since I have no idea how they’ll introduce dialogue into the movie.  Will everything be subtitled?  If the dinosaurs talk, how does that not look silly?  Also, can aliens please get a break?  We mutilated them earlier this year in Battle: Los Angeles, and they’re going to be fighting against cowboys this summer.  Are we sending these movies into space as a warning?  In any event, the graphic novel will be published later this year.  Sonnenfeld is currently at work on another alien flick, Men in Black III.

While covering the panel for Batman: Under the Red Hood at Comic-Con, I stumbled upon the announcement that Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s highly praised All-Star Superman storyline would be made into a full-length animated feature. Now we have the full cast listing and the date you can expect to see the Eisner award-winning storyline brought to life: February 22, 2011. Among the talented cast assembled to voice the icons are James Denton (Desperate Housewives) as Superman, Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) as Lois Lane, Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) as Lex Luthor, and Ed Asner (Up) as Perry White. As you can see, they have quite a cast for the film and having read the comic it’s based on after picking it up at the convention, I now understand why it received wild applause when it was announced. Warner Home Entertainment’s newest animated effort featuring DC Comics Heroes and villains: Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, arrives on DVD February 23^rd, 2010.  The film features villains from the classic DC Crime Syndicate.  Check out an image and the trailer after the jump.
