Two New Featurettes for PROMETHEUS Focus on 3D and Logan Marshall-Green

The release date for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is so damn close, but we’ve still got nearly two weeks to go.  It’s been a tough road of anticipation, but the finish line is in sight, folks.  In the meantime, two new featurettes for the film have gone online to whet fans’ appetites.  The first one, entitled “The Vision of Prometheus”, features Scott and some of the actors (including Guy Pearce) talking about the larger themes of the film, shooting in 3D, and more.  The second featurette focuses on the character played by Logan Marshall-Green and gives us a bit of insight into what his role in the film will entail.

IRON MAN 3 News: Jon Favreau to Return as Happy Hogan, Adds “Firepower” with Ashley Hamilton

We recently reported that Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) would be joining Tom Hiddleston as a baddie in Thor 2, so Iron Man 3 went ahead and added their own firepower.  In this case, “Firepower” is actually the villain that Ashley Hamilton (Sunset Beach) is in talks to play.  In the Marvel universe, Hamilton’s character was the pilot of a “power suit” prototype built by the government (likely, S.H.I.E.L.D.) under the codename “Project: Firepower.”  And we all know that, once you’ve strapped on a suit of battle armor, it doesn’t take too long before you challenge Tony Stark/Iron Man himself (Robert Downey Jr.).  Also returning, in a producer capacity, will be Jon Favreau.  But it looks like fans will be able to see the Iron Man director on screen as well.  Hit the jump for more.

Two New Clips from LAWLESS Featuring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Guy Pearce

In a summer filled with superhero spectacles and sci-fi extravaganzas, it’s nice to get back to the roots of Depression-era, moonshine-runnin’ crime dramas.  Director John Hillcoat (The Road) has the cure for what ails you in Lawless, an adaptation of the Matt Bondurant novel, “The Wettest County in the World.”  Lawless stars Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and Tom Hardy (Inception) as the Bondurant brothers, Southern bootleggers during the Prohibition era.  A new clip from the film shows a nice moment between the two characters and highlights the range of both.  Another clip introduces the strangely androgynous character, Special Agent Charlie Rakes (Guy Pearce) who has swooped in from Chicago to shut the Bondurants down.  There’s some good stuff on display here, hints of which were seen in this trailer.  You should also check out these awesome character posters.  Lawless, also starring Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Mia Wasikowska and Dane DeHaan will debut in theaters on August 29th.  Hit the jump to see the clips.

Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Shia LaBeouf and More Featured in LAWLESS Character Posters

The period crime drama Lawless was on my radar for quite a while given its pedigreed cast and talented director, but the film rocketed towards the top of my most anticipated list with a truly stellar first trailer.  Based on the novel The Wettest County in the World, the film stars Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy as two brothers who become bootleggers in the South during Prohibition.  The trailer highlighted some truly badass moments for Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman, and I love the aesthetic that director John Hillcoat (The Road) has chosen for this story.  A few character posters have gone online featuring a majority of the film’s cast.  They’re not the most artful one sheets I’ve ever seen (the photoshop on Oldman is highly questionable), but I’m assuming these will appeal to wide commercial audiences who haven’t yet heard about the film.

New Featurette for PROMETHEUS

A new featurette for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus has gone online.  While I don’t think the three-minute trailer laid out any major spoilers, I feel like we’re getting to the advertising-spoils-everything point, so I’m going dark on the movie.  I can’t tell you what’s in this new featurette except that it’s entitled “Origins”.

IRON MAN 3 Lands Rebecca Hall as Female Lead

Disney and Marvel have tapped Rebecca Hall (The Prestige) for the female lead of Iron Man 3.  The powers that be have moved quickly to initiate talks with Hall, as the previous frontrunner for the role, Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life), turned them down only yesterday, citing scheduling issues.  All the better for Hall, who can prepare for her role as a “sexy scientist” who rivals Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in intelligence.  The third installment will feature the return of Downey Jr. after his scene-stealing turn in The Avengers, along with Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle.  Guy Pearce will join the fun and Sir Ben Kingsley is on board to play the villain.  Production on the Shane Black-directed Iron Man 3 starts this month in North Carolina before heading off to China en route to a May 3rd, 2013 release date.  Hit the jump for more on Hall’s role and the overall plot of Iron Man 3.

New Images from LAWLESS, ANNA KARENINA, and NOW YOU SEE ME

We’ve got a few new images to share with you this afternoon.  Briefly:

• Lawless – Following a beyond stellar first trailer, we’ve got these new looks at Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Shia LaBeouf, Mia Wasikowska, and Guy Pearce in director John Hillcoat’s bootlegging-centered period drama.  The film opens on August 31st.
• Anna Karenina – A new image of Keira Knightley from director Joe Wright’s (Atonement) adaptation of the classic novel.  The film also stars Jude Law and Aaron Johnson and opens on November 9th.
• Now You See Me – The first official image of Isla Fisher in director Louis Letterier’s magician-centered heist drama, also starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Mark Ruffalo.  The film opens on January 18th, 2013.

Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce to Star in ROVER

Now free from finished with the Twilight series, Robert Pattinson is making some interesting project choices.  He’s got the incredibly promising David Cronenberg thriller Cosmopolis set to open this year, just yesterday he signed on to star as the military investigator who spearheaded the capture of Saddam Hussein in Mission: Blacklist, and now comes word that he’s in talks to star in the thriller Rover.  Variety reports that Pattinson and Guy Pearce are in negotiations to star in the pic, which centers on a man (Pearce) who “after having his car stolen by a group of men pursues them through the wild and rugged outback.”  Hit the jump for more.

New Featurette for Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS

On the heels of last night’s new trailer (which is loaded with new footage), Fox has released a new featurette for Ridley Scott’s return to sci-fi, Prometheus.  There are bits and pieces of new footage scattered throughout the clip, interspersed with interviews featuring some of the cast, Scott, and screenwriters Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts.  I was already sold on this film a long time ago so I’m trying to stay away from a ton of new footage, but Fox seems to be shedding a lot more light on what’s in store for us come June and they’re making it very hard to stay in the dark.  That said, if you’re still not convinced that Prometheus is worth checking out or don’t care about seeing new footage, then this clip is worth a gander.

New Three-Minute PROMETHEUS Trailer Has Loads of New Footage and a Great Look at Alien Life Forms

Prometheus hasn’t landed yet, but a new three-minute trailer has.  It shows a ton of new footage (which may be on the spoilery side) and emphasizes Charlize Theron’s character, Meredith Vickers.  Vickers comes across like a female version of Stephen Lang’s Colonel in Avatar and clearly has a seedy agenda (which is blatantly called out in a spat of coarse dialogue).  The trailer plays as a mini-movie of sorts, a condensed version of what we can expect when the full theatrical release hits theaters on June 8th.  Get caught up on all of our previous coverage here, including images, featurettes, posters, what the film will be rated and the ongoing viral marketing campaign.  Directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus also stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Guy Pearce.  Hit the jump to check out the awesome new trailer.

New Featurette for PROMETHEUS Is Loaded with Behind-the-Scenes Footage

A new featurette for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus has landed online.  The sci-fi pic is one of the most anticipated films of the year, so I doubt many of you need further convincing to check it out opening weekend.  That said, this new featurette is a nice treat for fans anxiously awaiting Scott’s return to the horror/sci-fi genre.  Scott himself is featured prominently in the clip, as we get bunch of glimpses at scenes being filmed intercut with finished footage.  Also of note, Scott is seen wearing 3D glasses while watching playback.  He spoke glowingly of the 3D format last year at Comic-Con and I’m hoping to see something truly special when Prometheus hits theaters, akin to Martin Scorsese’s beautiful use of 3D in Hugo.

Fantastic First Trailer for LAWLESS Starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Gary Oldman

The first trailer for the period crime drama Lawless has gone online.  Based on the novel The Wettest County in the World, the film stars Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy as two brothers who become bootleggers in the South during Prohibition.  This first trailer is pretty incredible, and a different stellar actor seems to pop into frame every 10 seconds.  LaBeouf, Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman all promise strong performances under the gritty/dirty direction of John Hillcoat (The Road).  Prohibition is a swell setting for some great drama, and I’m excited to see Hillcoat weave all the pieces of the story together with a strong character focus.  If the setting, cast, Hillcoat and the story aren’t enough to entice you, did I mention that the trailer features a bad ass Gary Oldman wielding a tommy gun?

Jessica Chastain May Join IRON MAN 3 as Sexy Scientist

With only about four weeks left before Iron Man 3 begins shooting, some casting additions are still being made.  Not only has the great Sir Ben Kingsley come on board in a villainous capacity, but the charismatic Guy Pearce is reportedly adding his talent to the Marvel movie.  Now, the latest reports have Jessica Chastain back on track to join the threequel.  Her role is purportedly that of a sexy scientist who rivals Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in intelligence.  Chastain was previously thought to be in the mix for the role before scheduling issues complicated matters.  With her film The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers pushed back, it looks like Chastain will be joining Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and possibly Scarlett Johansson for Iron Man 3. Guy Pearce in Talks to Join IRON MAN 3

The cast for Iron Man 3 is looking very, very good.  We recently learned that Ben Kingsley was in talks to play the unspecified villain role in the film, and now it looks like Guy Pearce may be joining the cast as well.  Pearce has already been turning fanboy heads by appearing in an incredibly intriguing viral tease for Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi pic Prometheus and for his charismatic turn in Lockout, and now it looks like he’ll be a certified “fanboy favorite” by Comic-Con.  Hit the jump for more on the nature of Pearce’s role.

New Viral Posters for PROMETHEUS

The marketing machine for director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is really cranking up: just yesterday we brought you this fantastic ad and poster for David 8, the human-looking android (played by Michael Fassbender) who is a product of the Weyland Corporation (headed by Guy Pearce). But it seems that David 8 is not the only machine roving around the universe in Prometheus and these new viral posters serve to introduce you to some of the others.  No, there are no more androids, but fans of these schematics of the explorer ship Prometheus should enjoy these new images equally as much. Prometheus also stars Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron, and opens in 3D on June 8th.
