Universal has set a release date for “Battleship,” the latest in their multiyear deal with Hasbro to release brand-driven films. Peter Berg (“Hancock”) is set to direct, which may mean bad news for some of his other projects like “Hancock 2″ and “Dune”. Get the status on them, and what more to expect from Universal’s board game kick, after the jump.

What kind of day would it be if there wasn’t a story about superheroes, or sequels? Luckily, thanks to Peter Berg’s announcement that the core cast to his 2008 summer mega-hit “Hancock” has “agreed” to come back for a sequel we get to kill two birds with one stone. Learn more of the tentative news about the super-sequel after the jump.

If you loved “Office Space” and “Idiocracy”, you must be beyond excited for this Friday, as that’s the day writer-director Mike Judge’s third feature “Extract” arrives in theaters! So to help promote the film, I recently participated in a roundtable interview with Jason Bateman and he talked about making the film, what he has coming up, and a lot more.
In the film, Jason plays the owner of an Extract factory and a freak workplace accident sets in motion a series of disasters that put his business and personal life in jeopardy. Trust me, the film is very funny and you should definitely check it out this weekend. Read what he had to say after the jump. It’s a great interview.

The other day I got to participate in a roundtable interview with Jason Bateman for his new movie “Extract”. While I’ll have a complete transcript next week, I wanted to post some highlights today. After all, who doesn’t want to hear the latest update on the “Arrested Development” movie? Also, we got him to talk about his work in the just wrapped Simon Pegg/Nick Frost movie “Paul”, his romantic comedy “The Baster”, and would he like to make a “Hancock” sequel. His answers after the jump:

After making over $225 million at the US box office and another $396 million overseas, the Will Smith superhero flick “Hancock” was going to get a sequel. That wasn’t even a question. Instead, the question was: where will the sequel find John Hancock: reluctant crusader? For the time being plot details for director Peter Berg’s “Hancock 2″ are still unknown, but at least we now know who will be crafting the action this time around – and the news is good if you are a fan of FX’s late, great, cop drama “The Shield”. Details after the jump.
