Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison is looking to remake Carl Reiner’s 1987 classic comedy, Summer School. The original starred Mark Harmon (NCIS) as a gym teacher forced to give up his summer vacation in order to teach an English class to a group of remedial students. The Paramount picture also starred Kirstie Alley (Look Who’s Talking), Robin Thomas (The Banger Sisters), Courtney Thorne-Smith (Melrose Place) and Reiner himself. Happy Madison’s Sandler and Jack Giaraputo are currently in negotiations with the studio to get the remake off the ground, something Paramount has been trying to do since 2005. Hit the jump for more on Summer School including Sandler’s involvement and a look at the original trailer and movie poster.

Serious news alert: Adam Sandler is starring in the Candy Land movie. Hot on the heels of yesterdays news that Relativity will release a Taylor Lautner-free Stretch Armstrong in April 2014 comes word that Sony Pictures is in final talks to develop the Candy Land movie. The film was previously set up at Universal along with multiple other Hasbro board game movies, but the studio apparently realized this was a terrible idea and has been dumping Hasbro properties left and right. The only property they’re keeping is Battleship, which hits theaters this summer. Hit the jump for more, including what famous SNL scribe is writing the screenplay alongside Sandler.

Screenwriter Tim Herlihy (Bedtime Stories) has been hired to write a feature length adaptation of Pixels for Columbia and Adam Sandler’s production company Happy Madison. Sandler has starred in all eight feature films credited to Herlihy — Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, and Bedtime Stories. Their ninth collaboration, Just Go With It, co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker.
Pixels is based on the popular short film which became an internet sensation earlier this year. The fantastic and imaginative short film — directed by Patrick Jean — featured classic video game characters such as Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Pac-Man as they decide to destroy New York City by turning everything they touch into 3D pixels. You can hit the jump to check out the original short film.

A little over a month ago we posted an awesome short film by Patrick Jean called Pixels. In the film, 8-bit favorites Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, and others decide to destroy New York City by turning everything they touch into 3D pixels. It’s one of the most original short films I’ve seen in a long time.
After the film was released, it spread everywhere. I saw tons of Facebook and Tweets about the short and it would make sense that Hollywood might notice. And according to Deadline, they have, as Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison are in early talks to develop a movie based on Pixels and they want to make it in 3D. More after the jump:

Earlier this year we got news that Eddie Murphy was going to play legendary comedian Richard Pryor in a biopic directed by Bill Condon (“Chicago”, “Dreamgirls”). Almost everyone was left wondering if Murphy could really pull it off. Well, we no longer have to wonder about Murphy as he has been replaced by Marlon Wayans. If this news wasn’t enough of a surprise, the film will no longer be produced by Fox Searchlight. Instead, it will be produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison productions. You can get all of the interesting details when you hit the jump.
