Mondo has kicked off a series of screenings where the movie being shown hasn’t been announced. Folks by a ticket, go to the screening, and then find out what they’re seeing and what awesome poster they, and only they, will be able to purchase. Past screenings have included Akira and Jurassic Park, but this weekend Mondo pulled out all the stops by doing a six-movie marathon in Los Angeles. Attendees were treated to screenings and posters for The Iron Giant (by far my favorite of the bunch), 28 Days Later, Hellraiser, Assault on Precinct 13, City of Lost Children, and The Mist.
I’ve included all the posters after the jump. Be warned: seeing these may make you sad because we’ll never have them. They won’t be sold on the Mondo store and unless you’re willing to pay a premium to eBay jerk-offs who don’t understand what’s special about these posters, you and I will never own them.

After decades of being known as the country that reveres film as a serious art form that they call “cinema” (usually while chain-smoking, wearing sunglasses, and speeding off on a moped), France has unexpectedly become the premiere country for hardcore horror movies. Titles like Haute Tension, Martyrs, and Le Sheitan have giving the French filmmaking community a reputation for creating some of the most intense horror movies in the world these days. Anyone who saw the untraviolent and claustrophobic 2007 pregnancy horror flick Inside will know that co-directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are absolute masters of this particular blood-soaked form. I’ll never forget seeing the film at a early morning TIFF press screening in 2007 with a group of cynical and exhausted critics who viscerally hooted and screamed along with the movie like a collection of drunken horror loving teenagers.
Now four years, later the filmmakers have returned to The Toronto Film Festival with their sophomore effort Livid, a deeply bizarre tale of struggling teens who decide to rob an old woman’s house only to learn that they wandered into a supernatural death trap. The directors employ a surreal dreamlike logic that is reminiscent of vintage Italian horror movies without sacrificing any the gooey red stuff. The film is one of the wildest rides to appear in TIFF’s midnight movie lineup this year and confirms the co-directors as major figures in the genre. Collider got a chance to chat with Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo about their influences, working methods and an their abandoned Hellraiser remake.

The outrageous action-adventure flick Drive Angry arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in both 2D and 3D on May 31st, with bonus content the includes audio commentary with director Patrick Lussier and writer/actor Todd Farmer, deleted scenes, “Milton’s Mayhem,” through which viewers can track the trail of carnage throughout the film, and an “Access: Drive Angry” special feature (exclusive to the Blu-ray release).
During a recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Patrick Lussier talked about what fans will get to see on the DVD/Blu-ray, why he enjoys doing filmmaker commentaries, filming such epic car chases and fight sequences on a tight budget, and why bad-ass characters appeal to him. He also talked about how he and Todd Farmer are currently developing their take on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser for a remake, and said that they also hope to be able to do Halloween 3. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

After years in gestation, Dimension’s reboot of Clive Barker’s sadomasochistic classic Hellraiser is headed to screens. And while many different writers and directors have been rumored for the project, several inside sources at the studio have now confirmed exclusively to Collider that it is Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier, NOT Christian E. Christiansen who will be sheparding this Hellbound Heart.
Read on for what we know…

The hits from this year’s American Film Market (AFM)* keep on coming. The yearly festival where buyers and sellers do business to bring us all the movies we’ll see in the (hopefully) near future offers plenty of photos and full synopses. You may not have the fat cash to purchase these movies but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy their first images and plot details. We’ve got the goods for Hellraiser, Earthbound (Starring Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal), Nowhere Boy, The Concert, The Tournament, and the animated films Escape from Planet Earth, Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil. Check it all out (plus the digital version of the promo poster for Scream 4) after the jump. Please note that I have copied down all synopsis exactly as they were originally written.
