Just when I thought my limited edition poster appetite was satisfied, the Halloween season rolls around and Mondo drops this beauty from Ken Taylor for John Carpenter‘s masterpiece. Given that I wasn’t fortunate enough to attend the benefit at L.A.’s New Beverly Cinema where the print’s Regular edition of 225 was released for only $100 (which included a ticket to the screening no less!), I’m now banished to dealing with sellers who are already asking upwards of four times that number. Sigh. What’s a guy to do but drop ridiculous amounts of money on movie art?
But enough of Hoarders: Collectible Movie Poster Edition, standing out from this past week’s headlines is the huge news regarding Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm and the launch of a new Star Wars trilogy beginning in 2015, Wreck-It Ralph interviews with John C. Reilly and more, our American Film Market 2012 coverage, Francis Lawrence helming the remainder of The Hunger Games franchise (including a two-part adaptation of Mockingjay), and special Election 2012 assets including Joss Whedon‘s endorsement of the Zomney Apocalypse and the return of Idiocracy‘s President Dwayne Elizando Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho. Hit the jump for a brief recap and link to each.

With only five days left until the Presidential Election, Idiocracy‘s President Dwayne Elizando Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho (Terry Crews) has traveled back in time to give his thoughts on the election, the economy, the Middle East (Mexico and Canada should watch out), jobs, and the “outgo tax” (the constipated shall live like kings). If you’re worried this won’t have the flavor of Idiocracy, Mike Judge wrote and directed all these shorts. Also, for those who took issue with Joss Whedon‘s zombie apocalypse warning, these Camacho shorts are decidedly apolitical.
Hit the jump to check out the videos, and don’t forget to vote on November 6th.

Idiocracy was unceremoniously dumped into a handful of theaters in 2005. In the years since, the movie has developed a following—not enough to keep Luke Wilson from resorting to embarrassing phone commercials, but possibly enough to justify a spinoff. In Idiocracy, Terry Crews played Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho: “five-time Ultimate Smackdown champion, porn superstar, and President of the United States.” Crews understandably enjoyed his time with the character and has appealed to writer/director Mike Judge to write more for Camacho. It took a few years, but Crews says he and Judge met with Fox last week to bring Camacho back in some form. Read what Crews said after the jump.

There are two sides to Mike Judge in Hollywood. There’s the TV star, who took a ton of heat but came out as one of the most daring and biting voices of satire in the 1990′s with Beavis and Butthead, and the successful maistream animator with a thirteen season run of the folksy and engaging King of the Hill. Then there’s the film director, who was cajoled into the theatrical Beavis and Butthead Do America, but has worked in live action ever since. He made two films for 20th Century Fox to see them abandoned theatrically, only for both 1999′s Office Space and 2006′s Idiocracy to now be regaled as cult classics. His most recent film, 2009′s Extract did not set the film world afire (Extract
is now available on DVD and Blu-ray), but it showed a less biting Judge doing what he does best: everyday life comedy. Perhaps that’s why it wasn’t abandoned, but it’s also a film that may find more of an audience on home video. My dinner with Mike Judge after the jump.

If you loved “Office Space” and “Idiocracy”, you must be beyond excited for this Friday, as that’s the day writer-director Mike Judge’s third feature “Extract” arrives in theaters! So to help promote the film, I recently participated in a roundtable interview with Jason Bateman and he talked about making the film, what he has coming up, and a lot more.
In the film, Jason plays the owner of an Extract factory and a freak workplace accident sets in motion a series of disasters that put his business and personal life in jeopardy. Trust me, the film is very funny and you should definitely check it out this weekend. Read what he had to say after the jump. It’s a great interview.

If you’re a fan of Mike Judge (“Office Space”, “Idiocracy”, “King of the Hill”, “Beavis and Butt-head”), you are absolutely going to love the interview I did with this talented writer/director for his new movie “Extract”. That’s because when I sat down for an extended interview last week, we not only discussed his new film and how he managed to get it made with complete artistic control, but what exactly happened on “Office Space” and why did “Idiocracy” not get promoted when it was released back in 2006. While I say you’re about to watch a great interview a lot…this interview with Mike Judge is one of the best I’ve ever done on Collider because Mike was so open and honest about what happened on his previous movies.
I really mean it when I say, if you’re a fan of “Office Space”, “Idiocracy”, or just a fan of Mike Judge, make the time and watch this interview! Of course the reason I got to speak with Mike is for his new movie “Extract”, so make sure you see it this weekend as it’s really funny and if it does well…it could lead to more movies! Here’s the interview. I promise you’ll love it.

While I post plenty of DVD giveaways on Collider, today I’m posting a contest that’s at a whole other level. That’s because the great folks at Miramax have given me 5 pairs of tickets to the Los Angeles premiere of Mike Judge’s new movie “Extract”! So if you’re interested in attending the new movie from the director or “Office Space” and “Idiocracy”, after the jump is the info on how to enter.
