Paramount Preparing NOAH 3D Post-Conversion for International Markets; U.S. Gets 2D Version Only [Updated with International Poster]

by     Posted 315 days ago

Matt was pretty critical of Disney’s recent decision to rush a 3D post-conversion of Need for Speed, but conceded, “While the domestic demand for 3D has died down over the past couple of years, it’s currently fueling international sales, so we have to keep putting up with it.”  Paramount may have found a way to have its cake and eat it too.  The studio is reportedly spending $10 million to create a 3D version of Darren Aronofsky‘s biblical epic Noah for 65 international markets.  However, the studio will distribute Noah exclusively in 2D in the U.S, the U.K., Australia, and France.

Hit the jump for more on the logic behind the decision. [Update: We added a new international poster after the jump.]

3 New International Posters for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Starring Andrew Garfield, Dane DeHaan, and Jamie Foxx

by     Posted 344 days ago

Three new international posters for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been released.  While other posters put the emphasis on the number of villains that Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) will be facing, these posters cut out Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and put the emphasis squarely on Electro (Jamie Foxx), although you can still see Goblin on the Times Square TV screens.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film also stars Emma Stone, Colm Feore, B.J. Novak, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally FieldThe Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

New posters have been released for World War Z, Girl Most Likely, and Getaway.  The international poster for World War Z gives us a look at Mireille Enos (who plays the wife of Brad Pitt‘s character) and their two daughters not really showing a lot of panic as the stampeding zombie horde closes in behind them.  If anything, it looks like one of the daughters has a tummy-ache.  Moving on to the international poster for Girl Most Likely (formerly Imogene), it’s about as lazy as posters get, which is fine since the film follows suit with its forced quirky humor.  Finally, there’s the teaser poster for Getaway, which tells you nothing about the movie other than it stars Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez getting away in a car.  I would be more interested if the garage door slightly opened to reveal a rascal scooter.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  World War Z opens in 3D on June 21st.  Girl Most Likely opens on July 19th.  Getaway opens August 30th.

New International Poster for IRON MAN 3

by     Posted 1 year, 258 days ago

I’m surprised Marvel hasn’t released an online app where you can mash-up your own Iron Man 3 poster.  The latest official posters for the film have been photoshopping previous posters together, and a new international poster keeps that trend going.  The new international poster brings together the final poster with the character posters for Iron Patriot (Don Cheadle), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce).  The result looks like Pepper looking down on tiny Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and saying, “Don’t worry.  I have your helmet.”

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The film also stars Rebecca Hall and Ben KingsleyIron Man 3 opens in 3D on May 3rd.

New Trailer and Poster for OBLIVION Starring Tom Cruise

by     Posted 1 year, 307 days ago

A new trailer and poster have been released for Joseph Kosinski‘s sci-fi action film, Oblivion.  The story takes place on a dystopian Earth, and stars Tom Cruise as a drone repairman who holds the future of mankind in his hands after discovering a crashed spaceship.  The first trailer didn’t do much for me, but this new trailer does a much better job of laying out the plot, the conflict, and the larger world.  Now I’m intrigued, and I hope that Kosinski can deliver on the premise.

Hit the jump to check out the new trailer as well as Spanish poster.  The film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, and Melissa LeoOblivion opens April 19th.

New Posters for Pixar’s MONSTERS UNIVERSITY

by     Posted 2 years, 16 days ago

With the 3D re-release of Monsters, Inc. on the way, Disney is making sure to tie in the marketing for the upcoming prequel, Monsters University, and have released a couple of posters.  The film goes back to Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan’s (John Goodman) college days and shows how the two overcame their differences and became BFFs.  These posters show both sides of the friendship, and how it’s probably best to not give the bigger guy the top bunk.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film also features the voices of Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray, and Peter SohnMonsters, Inc. 3D opens December 19th.  Monsters University opens in 3D on June 21, 2013.

International Poster for Wes Anderson’s MOONRISE KINGDOM

by     Posted 2 years, 247 days ago

An international poster for Wes Anderson‘s new comedy Moonrise Kingdom has gone online.  The story centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness of the community’s search for the pair.  While I prefer the first poster for the movie, this one has a nice touch by making it clear that the background is a painted backdrop.

Hit the jump to check out the poster and click here for new images from the movie.  The film stars Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Jared Gilman, and Kara Hayward. Moonrise Kingdom will open the Cannes Film Festival, and open in limited release on May 25th.

Two International Posters for PIRANHA 3DD

by     Posted 2 years, 300 days ago

There had been some concern that Piranha 3DD, the sequel to the surprise hit Piranha 3D, wouldn’t be coming to theaters.  Last month, director John Gulager said there was no need for concern, and that 3D boobs and angry fish were headed our way this year.  Now, two international posters have gone online and they don’t look too bad.  I would think that including “Double the D’s” in the tagline would mean focusing more on the breasts than the piranhas, but the posters are the other way around.  I guess market research shows that fish are a better selling point than boobs.  Market research is never wrong.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film stars Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, Meagan Tandy, Katrina Bowden, David Hasselhoff, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Gary Busey.  There is currently no release date for Piranha 3DD.

The international poster for Captain America: The First Avenger has gone online.  It’s not a bad poster.  You’ve got the shield, you’ve got the Howling Commandos, and you’ve got a giant Red Skull in the background and if the characters in the foreground simply turned around, they’d have a real shot at winning the war.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  Captain America: The First Avenger opens July 22nd.

New International Poster for COWBOYS & ALIENS

by     Posted 3 years, 179 days ago

A new international poster for director Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens has landed online and it suggests that UFOs run super quietly. The UK one sheet features stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde staring off at an unspecified diversion while an alien craft hovers overhead. In addition to Craig, Ford, and Wilde, Cowboys & Aliens also stars Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Keith Carradine, and Walton Goggins. Check out the new poster after the jump. Cowboys & Aliens hits theaters on July 29th.

Three Posters for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO [Updated]

by     Posted 3 years, 199 days ago

Sony has pulled the bootleg red-band trailer for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and replaced it with a family-friendly green-band trailer for the “Free Bad Movie of Christmas”.  Now two international posters for the film have gone online and they’re NSFW unless your workplace is totally cool with pictures of Rooney Mara’s pierced nipples.  The posters are basically the same and share the tagline Evil Shall with Evil Be Expelled (I think it’s supposed to be “Evil Shall Be Expelled with Evil”, but it doesn’t read that way since western languages typically read left to right, top to bottom).

Hit the jump for the international posters.  The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opens December 21st. [Update: We have added a higher-res version of the UK quad along with the US poster, which is exactly like the French poster except the tagline is in English.]

International Poster for REAL STEEL

by     Posted 3 years, 201 days ago

It’s Memorial Day, which means it’s likely to be a slow news day, and so that’s why the international poster for Shawn Levy’s Real Steel is getting its own article.  It’s a big improvement over the domestic teaser poster, which showcased the robot Camelfist Magee (probably not the robot’s real name, but it should be).  For those unfamiliar with the movie, it’s about a former boxer (Hugh Jackman) who becomes a promoter for the hot new sport: robot boxing (I have trouble believing this would bypass Foxy Boxing, but whatever).  The former boxer reunites with his estranged son (Dakota Goyo) and together they build a new robot and try to take him to the championship.  Emotional uplift possibly ensues.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The film also stars Anthony Mackie, Hope Davis, Kevin Durand, and Evangeline Lilly.  Real Steel opens October 7th.

French Poster for THOR

by     Posted 3 years, 340 days ago

The French poster for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor has gone online.  Unlike the American teaser poster, this one actually features more than one color.  However, it looks like Thor inhabits the same black-and-blue cloud-space as the Iron Man 2 posters from last year.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Thom Hiddleston, and Anthony Hopkins.  It opens in France on April 27th and in the U.S. on May 6th.

New International Posters for THE GREEN HORNET

by     Posted 3 years, 353 days ago

One of the most anticipated movies of the new year, The Green Hornet is set to kick off 2011 with a blend of adventure and director Michel Gondry’s habitual touch of eccentricity, if the various artworks are anything to go by.

Remember when Collider gave you an exclusive sneak peek of The Green Hornet’s character posters back in November? They have now officially debuted on Korean billboards, while the Spanish and French posters resemble the US ones. Hit the jump to take a look.

New International Teaser Poster for COWBOYS & ALIENS

by     Posted 4 years, 9 days ago

Universal has released an international teaser poster for Jon Favreau’s upcoming sci-fi western Cowboys & AliensLike the domestic poster, it appears that showing Daniel Craig’s handsome visage would send audiences running in terror rather than standing around and ridiculing the title.  But for the most part, it’s like the US poster except a different angle and color scheme.  Ultimately, you’re drawn to the juxtaposition of Craig’s western-attire and his super-fancy alien bracelet.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  Cowboys & Aliens also stars Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano, and Sam Rockwell.  It opens July 29, 2011.
