It’s awards season and while most films won’t be in the running for an Oscar, doesn’t mean it’s not fun to try. Paramount has drawn up a For Your Consideration ad for Jackass 3 (aka Jackass 3D) and hopes that the Academy will consider the film to be worthy of awards in multiple categories, including Art Direction, Cinematography, Costume Design, and Best Picture. While the film is unlikely to receive any Oscar nominations (unless the Academy suddenly decides to create a category for Best Use of Fecal Matter), it’s all in good fun.
Paramount has also announced that the DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack for the film is due out March 8th. Hit the jump to check out the For Your Consideration ad as well as the list of special features included on the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray.

I saw a lot of awesome movie footage at this year’s Comic-Con. While many things impressed me, only one thing made me laugh so hard that I almost couldn’t take it: Jackass 3D. In an abandoned parking lot last Friday night, Paramount showed about 8 minutes of the movie in a converted trailer and it played huge. Literally everyone I spoke with afterwards was raving about the footage and if you’re a fan of the Jackass franchise, it looks like the 3rd film is going to be the best.
Also, this isn’t some converted 3D movie like Clash of the Titans or Last Airbender. When they shot Jackass 3, they used 3D cameras and it shows! During the 8 minutes of footage we saw some crazy stunts and it looked amazing in 3D. While Jeffrey Katzenberg and James Cameron have been raving about 3D and how it can help the movie going experience, I’m wondering what they’ll say when they see Steve-O in a portopotie getting thrown around with feces flying everywhere – including on the cameras and in his mouth. It was some of the sickest and most awesome movie footage I have ever seen. Much more after the jump:

While we reported in the past that the second Zombieland and the third Jackass movie would both be in 3D, Variety now confirms those reports. The trade also provides new details on both films. First, they confirm that Zombieland director Rueben Fleischer will definitely return for the sequel and Sony is already talking to Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg to reprise their roles. Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are back as well and currently writing the sequel.
But 3D is not just for horror; it’s also for watching people abuse the shit out of themselves and others for your entertainment. We’re going to get a 3rd round of Jackass with filming set to begin on January 25, 2010 with the film to be released later that year. While Paramount confirmed that Jackass 3 will be 3D, they didn’t mention how it would be employed. My guess: being able to see a dude destroy his scrotum like you’ve never seen before.

It seems someone let the cat out of the bag a bit early. Thanks to William Goss spotting Jackass 3D on Paramount’s 2010 schedule, it seems the adventures of Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and Steve-O are going to continue on movie screens….but this time we’re going to get them in 3D! While I thought the first Jackass movie was an amazing cinematic achievement, I didn’t think the second movie was worth anyone’s time and most of it played like a long deleted scene. Of course I’ll be the first one in line for a 3D Jackass movie…but after my recent experiences on a movie shooting in 3D, I’m not 100% sold this is really happening. My explanation after the jump:
