The well-received performance by John Hawkes in Sundance’s audience award-winner, The Surrogate, has helped to land the star a role in Switch, the Jackie Brown prequel. Starring opposite Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), the duo will portray younger versions of Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie. The same characters were respectively played by Robert De Niro and Samuel L. Jackson in Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 film, Jackie Brown. From writer/director Dan Schechter (Goodbye Baby), Switch is an adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel, “The Switch,” which is scheduled to start production in May. Hit the jump for more.

Last August, we showed you some incredible posters Olly Moss did for the Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow.  The posters were only available at the screening event…until now.  Tomorrow, February 3rd at a random time, Mondo will be selling Moss’ posters for There Will Be Blood, Rocky, Jackie Brown, Convoy, The Godfather: Part II, and On the Waterfront.  Like all of Moss’ work, these posters are stunning and I imagine competition will be fierce to pick one up.  All of the posters measure 18″ x 24″ but editions and pricing vary.

Hit the jump to check out the posters and be sure you’re following @MondoNews for the announcement.

The Alamo Drafthouse’s 2010 Rolling Roadshow Tour is something very cool for movie lovers.  The tour goes across the country showing free screenings of classic movies outdoors in the places they were filmed and/or where they take place.  So this year, for example, you’ll be able to catch Dirty Harry at San Francisco’s Washington Square Park or The Blues Brothers at Chicago’s Joliet Prison.  Oh, and each screening usually features special guests, merchandise, and more. How freaking cool is that?

It’s about as cool as these posters artist Olly Moss drew up for each film on the tour.  If these posters are on sale at the event and you don’t pick one up, then there’s something wrong with your brain.  I cannot stress how gorgeous these posters are so just hit the jump to check them out.  I’ve also included the tour schedule after the jump as well.  Rolling Roadshow 2010 kicks off this Friday at Los Angeles’ Del Amo Fashion Mall with Jackie Brown.

Organized by the awesome Texas movie theater chain that hosts South by Southwest, Fantastic Fest, Butt Numb-a-Thon and more, the Rolling Roadshow features free screenings of classic movies, outdoors, in the exact places either where they were filmed or where they take place.

Minimalist Posters for the Films of Quentin Tarantino

More homes would have movie posters on their walls if studios made them as eye-catching as what artist Ibraheem Youssef has done with the films of Quentin Tarantino.  They remind me of the “I Can Read Movies” series with their minimal designs that cause fans to grin and make the uninitiated want to get in on the joke.  I’ve seen all of Tarantino’s movies, but I can’t seem to grasp the reference Youssef’s making for Inglourious Basterds even though I’ve seen that movie twice and recently.  Help me out in our comments section.

Check out all the posters after the jump.  You can purchase them as 12×18 prints or 24×36 posters at shop.ibraheemyoussef.com.  All prints and posters are limited editions, hand-signed, and numbered.
