The first teaser poster for the new James Bond film Skyfall has gone online. It’s not really much, but I guess the word “teaser” should have clued us in on that front. It plays on the classic Bond imagery while hinting at a bit of a darker tone, and that may or may not be the London Underground. I’m eager to see what Sam Mendes will do with the Bond universe, and he’s off to a great start as he’s assembled an incredible cast anchored by Javier Bardem as the villain. This is just a teaser for what’s to come, and we should have a much better idea of what to expect once the teaser trailer debuts on Monday, May 21st at 8:30am BST.

And if you missed any of Steve’s set visit coverage, including a video blog recap and interviews with director Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig, producer Barbara Broccoli, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris and Ola Rapace, be sure to check it out. Skyfall opens on November 9th.

It’s hard to believe just a few days ago I was on the set of the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall, in Istanbul, Turkey. As a lifelong Bond fan, getting to see Daniel Craig film part of a huge action scene near the famous Istanbul Spice Market was something I’ll always remember. For more on the set visit – including a video blog recap – click here. You can also read or listen to my interviews with director Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig, producer Barbara Broccoli, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris by clicking the links.
While in Istanbul, I was also able to participate in a roundtable interview with Ola Rapace. Even though he was very guarded with his answers, we were able to find out that he’s the person that Bond is after at the beginning of the movie, and he may or may not be in business with Javier Bardem. During the interview, Rapace talked about whether the script changed once he was cast, his training for the role, what it’s like to work with Bardem, filming around the world, and a lot more. A new video blog for Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall has gone online. Sony is still keeping the plot details of James Bond’s latest adventure under wraps, but Steve was able to tease out a few bits of info when he visited the set earlier this week. The new video blog doesn’t reveal anything about the story, but it does show off some of the cool sets created by production designer Dennis Gassner (Road to Perdition). I’m not sure why M (Judi Dench) is working out of what looks like an old train station, but I’m eager to find out.
Hit the jump to check out the video blog, and click the corresponding links for Steve’s interview with Mendes, Daniel Craig, producer Barbara Broccoli, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris. The film also stars Javier Bardem, Ben Chaplin, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens November 9th.

There is something about being in the presence of James Bond. Maybe it’s because we all grew up watching the character. Or maybe it’s because we wish we could be him—bedding beautiful women and killing bad guys with ease and style. And although we all know Daniel Craig is not really James Bond, when he walks into a room filled with reporters from around the world to answer questions about Skyfall, the atmosphere changes. It’s like everyone just had a few cups of coffee and they’re wide awake and ready to ask a lot of questions. Trust me: not every actor gets that kind of response from entertainment journalists.
On Sunday afternoon, in Istanbul, Turkey, I got to participate in a roundtable interview with Daniel Craig and producer Barbara Broccoli. Since Craig had to get back to set to film part of an action sequence on Skyfall, we had limited time. However, even though Craig and Broccoli were guarded about giving away any of the twists and turns, they still talked about the strength of the script, the humor, how the upcoming teaser trailer only scratches the surface of what Skyfall is about, the stunts, invoking the wit of Ian Fleming, Easter eggs, if Bond 24 is really coming in 2014, and a lot more. Hit the jump to listen or read the interview.

While director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Away We Go) has done a lot of press conferences for his upcoming James Bond movie, Skyfall, I’m pretty sure what you’re about to read is the first interview with any substance. Usually, various press conferences for the film (including the one he did Sunday afternoon in Istanbul, Turkey) are about the city they’re filming in and what is it like to work with Daniel Craig or Naomie Harris.
However, on Sunday afternoon, shortly after the press conference, I participated in a small roundtable interview with Mendes where he actually went into detail about the movie. He talked about how the script benefited from the production being pushed back, how they landed Javier Bardem and what type of villain he’s going to play, how Skyfall will show more of Bond and M’s relationship/backstory, how he loves what The Dark Knight and Bourne have done in terms of main characters, how audiences have embraced movies that go darker and more personal, the challenge of filming action scenes, and finding new ways to tell a Bond story. Hit the jump to listen or read the interview.

In every James Bond movie, there is always an insanely attractive woman cast to play the so called “Bond Girl.” In director Sam Mendes, Skyfall, the 23rd Bond movie currently filming in Istanbul, Turkey, she’s being played by French actress Berenice Marlohe. And after speaking with her on Sunday afternoon with a small group of reporters, I can say that the role has been perfectly cast.
During the interview, Marlohe revealed what she could about her character, how the script changed since being cast, her thoughts on being a “Bond girl,” what kind of training she went through before filming began, if she plays a lethal femme fatale, her costumes, how she got cast, and more. Hit the jump to either read or listen to the interview.

In the upcoming James Bond movie, Skyfall, Naomie Harris plays Eve (not Moneypenny), and she’s out in the field fighting alongside Bond (Daniel Craig) against villains played by Javier Bardem and Ola Rapace. On Sunday afternoon, during a roundtable interview in Istanbul, Turkey (where they’re currently filming), Harris talked about how she got involved in Skyfall, her character, preparing to do the action, what makes Craig special as Bond, her favorite Bond girl, what it’s like to work for director Sam Mendes, her reaction to reading the script for the first time, and a lot more. James Bond had to stay off-duty for four years due to the financial meltdown of MGM, but the franchise found at home at Sony, and then kicked into production on the spy’s next adventure, Skyfall. The studio has no intention of giving 007 another extended vacation, and at CinemaCon yesterday, Rory Bruer, the company’s President of Worldwide Distribution, said the studio is aiming to have Bond 24 hit theaters in late 2014. I would be willing to go a step further and assume the studio would like the film in November 2014 since November has been home to all of the Daniel Craig Bond movies.
Speaking of Craig, his contract will allow him to refuse returning for the next movie. He’s given no indication that he has any plans to leave the franchise, but we’ll have to wait for confirmation, which probably won’t come until after Skyfall is released. Skyfall is due out on November 9th, and the first trailer will be attached to Men in Black 3, which opens on May 25th. Hit the jump for a description of the trailer.

Calling all James Bond fans: some great Skyfall content has hit the web. Not only do we now have eight new images from the latest entry in the James Bond franchise, but a featurette has been posted that features Javier Bardem talking about his villain character. The images have your typical “Daniel Craig looking like a bad ass” feel, but we also get a look at new Bond girl Naomie Harris and half of Ralph Fiennes. The nature of the Harry Potter actor’s role is being tightly kept under wraps, but this is the first time we’ve seen what his character looks like. Half his face is hidden behind a door to prevent being shot to bits, but I think we can safely assume he’s also self-conscious of his badly burned and disfigured left side (we can’t).
Hit the jump to check out the images and the video of Bardem and Craig talking about the film. Rumor has it (via The Daily Mail) that we’ll see the first trailer for Skyfall in front of Men in Black 3. Skyfall opens on November 9th.

Some new behind-the-scenes video from the set of the new James Bond film, Skyfall, has gone online. Unfortunately, it comes by way of Entertainment Tonight, so it’s not exactly the most hard-hitting of pieces. We do get a look at Daniel Craig filming some scenes and the actor talks about how he and director Sam Mendes are putting their stamp on the franchise with the 23rd entry in the series. We also hear from new Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe and the film’s baddie, Javier Bardem. In addition, it’s revealed that filming will be taking place in Shanghai, Scotland, and Istanbul, as well as London.
Hit the jump to watch the video. The film also stars Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens on November 9th.

James Bond is nothing without his beautiful female co-stars, and his new film, Skyfall, he’ll be joined by Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) and newcomer Bérénice Marlohe. While initial reports pegged Harris as the new Moneypenny, it turned out she was playing a field agent named “Eve”. Harris’ videoblog focuses on the actress’ firearms training, and she notes that her character believes she’s Bond’s equal even though she’s not. As for Marlohe, who plays “Sévérine”, and the actress believes that the range of Bond Girl personalities over the years allows her the freedom to find her own take on the character. She also says that the first time we see Sévérine, “she has a dark side.”

It’s pretty safe to say that fans are quite looking forward to the next James Bond film, Skyfall. The franchise was rejuvenated with Daniel Craig in the excellent Casino Royale, and while the follow-up Quantum of Solace was a bit of a misfire, Skyfall has all the makings of a worthy entry to the classic series. Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead) is in the director’s chair, Javier Bardem is set as our villain, and Ralph Fiennes is onboard in a mysterious role. We got our first look at Bardem by way of some set photos just the other day, and while we’re eagerly awaiting Sony’s release of a trailer and poster, a pretty cool fan-made poster recently hit the web. It’s minimal, but the image of the smoking gun alongside the Skyfall logo gets the Bond message across loud and clear. It may be awhile before we see a full trailer given that Mendes is still in the middle of production, so this fan poster serves as a nice reminder that James Bond returns to theaters later this year.
Hit the jump to check out the fan poster. Skyfall opens November 9th in the US and on October 26th in the UK.

The new James Bond film, Skyfall, will be headed to IMAX. It will be the first film in the franchise to go IMAX and will be release simultaneously with the film’s November 9th release date (October 26th internationally). It should be noted that Skyfall is not being shot in IMAX. It’s being blown up to meet the larger screen size. The trade-off is that while Bond gets bigger, he also gets more pixilated (at least in the movies I’ve seen; other people don’t see this problem).
In other IMAX news, THR reports that IMAX plans to be part of more early release windows like they were with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. However, there’s no word on whether or not Skyfall will be one of those early releases. Hit the jump for the press release regarding Bond’s move to the really, really big screen.

Filming is currently underway for the new James Bond film, Skyfall. Throughout production, director Sam Mendes will be providing videoblogs to provide fans with updates on 007′s latest adventure. I’m a little baffled when Mendes says that Casino Royale is about Bond being a real man in a real situation, and then turns around and say that reminded him of the Sean Connery movies. Has he seen those lately? In You Only Live Twice, Bond convinces people that he’s Japanese. Connery’s Bond isn’t even as seductive as people tend to think. Women want to have sex with him before they’ve even met him (see: From Russia with Love). The Craig movies are almost a complete 180 from Connery’s and there’s nothing wrong with that. Honestly, it seems like Mendes wants to praise both the last Bond movie people really loved as well as the Connery movies, which people will always love. Other than that, the videoblog is mainly Mendes saying how excited he is to be directing a James Bond film.
Hit the jump to check out the videoblog, which features some behind-the-scenes footage. The film stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Ben Chaplin, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens November 9th.

An official set photo from the new James Bond film, Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall, has been released. The photo precedes Mendes’ first videoblog, which goes online tomorrow. So for now, Mendes looking over Judi Dench‘s shoulder will have to tide you over.
Hit the jump to check out the set photo. The film also stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, Ben Chaplin, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCroy, Albert Finney, and Ralph Fiennes. Skyfall opens November 9th.
