Daniel Radcliffe has traded in his Harry Potter scar for some more obvious prosthetics in Horns, a new film from director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes). Adapted by Keith Bunin from the Joe Hill novel of the same name, Horns centers on Ignatius “Ig” Perrish (Radcliffe), a young man who wakes up to find himself accused of the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend. Oh, and he has horns growing out of his forehead that seem to come with the bonus powers of forcing people to confess their sins and getting them to give in to their darkest impulses. Horns also stars Juno Temple, Max Minghella, James Remar and Kelli Garner. Hit the jump to see the horns and to read what Radcliffe had to say about the much darker role.

Every previous season of Showtime’s Dexter has been positively packed with tension and season seven is promising to continue that trend. For those of you who haven’t caught up with the show, we’ll save the spoilers until after the jump. Let’s just say that Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was in a tight spot at the end of season six. While this happens nearly every season, the current predicament hits pretty close to home. Unfortunately, the new trailer is super spoilery, so only go ahead and hit the jump if that doesn’t bother you. Dexter, also starring Jennifer Carpenter, Lauren Velez, David Zayas, C.S. Lee and show newcomers Yvonne Strahovski, Ray Stevenson and Jason Gedrick, returns Sunday, September 30th at 9PM on Showtime. Hit the jump to see the bloody new trailer.

At this year’s Saturn Awards, I was able to speak with James Remar on the red carpet before the show. For fans of Dexter, we talked about the upcoming seventh season, what episode they’re filming right now, and his feelings on the show coming to an end. In addition, with Remar playing Leonardo DiCaprio’s bodyguard in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained, we talked about what it was like to work for QT, what they did off set, the films Tarantino showed on the weekends, and more. Showtime has released a short teaser trailer for season seven of Dexter featuring tons of never-before-seen footage. The catch? It all blurs by in about five seconds. Try as I might, I wasn’t able to capture any images of the show’s newcomer, Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), so she may or may not be featured in the teaser. People who are featured include Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, James Remar, C.S. Lee and Desmond Harrington. Obviously, if you haven’t caught up to the dramatic conclusion of the season six finale, you should steer clear of any of the following information as it contains heavy spoilers. Dexter returns to Showtime for its seventh season starting September 30th. Hit the jump to check out the teaser.

Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained is quickly shaping up to be my most anticipated Christmas present of 2012. While this new, one-minute TV spot shares a good amount of footage with the previous trailers released, it does feature a new quip from star, Samuel L. Jackson. Leonardo DiCaprio looks delightfully deranged, Jamie Foxx is cool as ice as the title character and Christoph Waltz is the most charismatic bounty hunter since Bruce Campbell’s Brisco County Jr. And that blood spray on the cotton plant may be my favorite Tarantino shot of all time! Also starring Kerry Washington, Jonah Hill, Don Johnson and James Remar, Django Unchained opens December 25th. Hit the jump to check out the first TV spot for Django Unchained.

Last week, the red-band trailer for The FP went online, and today Drafthouse Films has released the green-band version. Both trailers do a good job of setting up the movie’s premise: With an 80s-style vibe, the plot pits two gangs against each other, and their differences are settled by playing “Beat Beat Revolution” (based off the real-world rhythm-dance game Dance Dance Revolution). The red-band version is heavy on the swearing, but it also does a better job of showing off the fun dialogue and intentionally corny lines like “He wasn’t expecting the unexpected!” The FP may seem like a commercial or a comedy sketch gone on too long, but I’m going to trust the positive word from the film’s premiere at last year’s SXSW Film Festival.
Hit the jump to check out the trailers. The film stars Jason Trost, Lee Valmassy, Art Hsu, Caitlyn Folley, Nick Principe, Brandon Barrera, James DeBello, Sean Whalen, and James Remar. The FP opens March 16th.

A red band trailer for the comedy The FP has gone online. The film takes place in a dystopian future and centers on a relentless turf war between two gangs who compete via a dance fight video game (think Dance Dance Revolution). The trailer’s pretty funny and incredibly ridiculous. The 1980s nods are evident, and everything is played way over the top. While the movie looks decidedly weird, it’s picked up considerable buzz from festivals like SXSW. I’m not entirely convinced that the premise can stretch to 83 entertaining minutes, but the positive buzz has me hopeful.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Directed by Brandon Trost and Jason Trost, The FP opens March 16th.

It seems like every other day we’re reporting on a new addition to the fantastic cast of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Today is one of those days as we can report on four new members: James Remar (Dexter), Tom Wopat (Jonah Hex), James Russo (Public Enemies) and Todd Allen (Friday Night Lights) have all joined the party.
In non-Django Unchained news, we have two leading contenders for this year’s Best Actress Oscar: Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs) and breakout star Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene). The catch here is that they’re co-starring in the same movie, Therese Raquin. After the awards are over, the pair will co-star in the film based on the 19th century novel and play by Emile Zola. Hit the jump for more on both projects.

Comic Con 2011: At the Showtime Preview Panel, Michael C. Hall and company talked up the 6th season of Dexter; William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum and John Wells teased the second season of Shameless; Morena Baccarin and Howard Shore discussed their new show Homeland. For all this, plus new trailers for Dexter and Homeland, hit the jump.

There are few scenes where you can tell an actor has launched themselves into stardom. Granted, from the perspective of history, it’s hard not to look at the first moments of James Dean on screen in East of Eden and not be wowed, but those moments could have been the same as Jeffery Hunter, or any number of would-be’s launched with the aspiration of instant success. But the moment that Eddie Murphy became both a film and a mega-star comes about forty minutes into 48 HRS. Murphy’s Reggie Hammond begs Jack Cates (Nick Notle) to give him his badge to go into the bar Torchy’s. As it’s a redneck bar, Cates is sure that Hammond will get stomped. The next five minutes transform Murphy into the comic icon he remains today. The film has Murphy playing a convict, and Notle a cop, both chasing a cop-killer who’s after stolen loot. Hammond is given a two day pass from jail to stop the bad guys, because he has information about what the killer’s after. My review of the Blu-ray of 48 HRS. follows after the jump.

Summit Entertainment has released almost a dozen new images from director Robert Schwentke’s Red. Since we’ve been covering the film extensively the past few months, you probably know Red is based on the three issue comic book mini-series by writer Warren Ellis and artist Cully Hamner and it’s about a group of former CIA agents that are framed for assassination so they must get back together to clear their names. Red stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, Karl Urban, Helen Mirren, James Remar, Julian McMahon, Brian Cox, Ernest Borgnine, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Richard Dreyfuss.
I visited the set earlier this year and thought it looked great. On top of that, the trailer is fantastic and I’ve heard the film is testing extremely well. That’s probably why Summit was willing to do some additional filming this weekend to add a bit to the ending. Anyway, hit the jump for the new images. Red opens October 15.
