Jason Lee ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED Interview

by Christina Radish    Posted: December 13th, 2011 at 7:01 am

In Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, actor Jason Lee returns as Dave Seville, the father-figure for not only Alvin (voiced by Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (Jesse McCartney), but now Brittany (Christina Applegate), Jeanette (Anna Faris) and Eleanor (Amy Poehler) as well. While taking the Chipmunks and Chipettes on a luxury cruise liner was meant to be a much-needed vacation for all of them, naturally chaos ensues and they become “chipwrecked” on a remote island, left to fend for themselves until Dave can find them.

At the press day for the film, Jason Lee talked about why he thinks the Chipmunks have had such longevity, which Chipmunk he most identifies with, learning how to emote to a brown bean bag in place of a talking chipmunk, perfecting his “Alvinnnnn!” scream, and working on a Carnival Cruise ship. He also said that he’s currently developing some television comedy projects, he hopes to do some more episodes of the NBC series Up All Night, and that he hopes director Kevin Smith will have a role for him in his upcoming hockey movie, Hit Somebody. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

First Trailer for ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, the third movie in the series, and it’s absolutely painful. Really and truly. It’s basically Lost with annoying pop song-singing Chipmunks. The story finds Jason Lee and his Chipmunks “chipwrecked” on a desert island after a luxurious cruise. Lee is split up from his chipmunks, and said chipmunks wonder how they’re ever going to find their master in between singing Lady Gaga songs. I guess kids will enjoy it, but this is one of those kids movies that has zero appeal to the parents that are dragged along.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The voice cast features Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Amy Poehler, Anna Faris, and Christina Applegate.  Jason Lee, David Cross, and Jenny Slate will reprise their live-action roles.  Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked is scheduled for release on December 16th.

THE INCREDIBLES Blu-ray Review

Pixar likes to take chances, and for them one of the biggest was hiring outside of their staple. Since John Lasseter directed the first Toy Story, the filmmakers have all been with Pixar from the beginning so bringing in Brad Bird was somewhat risky. After all, Bird’s last film was the 1999 bomb The Iron Giant. The film might be a masterpiece, but it was nowhere near successful. But Bird’s The Incredibles worked, and was another in a long line of hits for the studio. It also did things the company hadn’t done before. And now it’s on Blu-ray and looks better than ever. COP OUT Blu-ray Review

by Andre Dellamorte    Posted: July 20th, 2010 at 7:47 am

Alas, the long slow decline of Kevin Smith. 2010’s Cop Out was Kevin Smith’s first time directing a film that he didn’t write himself, and put him in a position to work with Bruce Willis in an action-comedy. On the commentary he references both Fletch and Beverly Hills Cop. Unfortunately he never gets close in delivering the goods as either an action movie or comedy. Willis stars alongside Tracy Morgan as two cops who get suspended after a routine bust goes bad. With no pay coming in Willis has to sell a rare baseball card that then gets stolen by Seann Williams Scott. This leads them to an evil bad guy named Po Boy (Guillermo Diaz). Kevin Smith 3 Movie Collection Blu-ray Review – CLERKS, CHASING AMY and JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK

Kevin Smith 3 movie collection Blu-ray.jpg

I remember when Clerks was announced. It was a Sundance favorite and trailered along with Pulp Fiction. Having had some counter experience, and being a Star Wars nerd, Clerks looked like sweet elixir. And I went to see it opening weekend (in a double feature with Stargate), and was in the Kevin Smith. Revisiting his films Clerks, Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on Blu-ray in the Kevin Smith collection is a chance to wrestle with what makes Kevin Smith great and somewhat terrible. My review after the jump.
