Warner Bros. is developing a feature film based on long-running Archie comics. The series has been around since 1941, but has never been adapted into a feature film. It’s a bit of a tough sell since the comics are inoffensive and fairly static but perhaps—oh wait. They’re adding zombies. Never mind. According to Deadline, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Glee) will adapt his comic Afterlife with Archie, “which ponders a zombie apocalypse in suburban New York and isn’t replacing the usual Archie Comics, just supplementing them.” The idea is to put Archie, Jughead, and the rest of the Riverdale gang into horror situations like The Stand or Evil Dead. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) is set to direct with Roy Lee and Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) producing.

[Update: Variety has refuted Deadline's report, noting that the Archie movie will not involve zombies, and will instead be a coming-of-age comedy in which Archie faces a "teenage midlife crisis" and must find his purpose in life before graduation. Our original story follows after the jump.]
While Rebel Wilson’s hosting gig at the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday may not have been a hit with everyone, her performance with fellow Pitch Perfect cast members must have struck a chord. Universal announced today during its presentation at CinemaCon that sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit is now in development for a planned 2015 release, and original writer Kay Cannon (30 Rock) is back on board as well. Pitch Perfect focused on the world of collegiate a capella groups, detailing the struggles of an all-female group, the Barden Bellas, who desperately want to redeem themselves at the national championships.
The cast featured Wilson, Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hanna Mae Lee, and Ben Platt. No word on if the entire cast, director Jason Moore, or producer and cast member Elizabeth Banks are returning, but as development progresses, we can expect those announcements to be released. Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air) could do no wrong, even before this new clip of her engaging in a rap battle in director Jason Moore’s musical comedy film, Pitch Perfect. Kendrick stars as Beca, a college student who stumbles into an a cappella club populated by a motley crew of girls whose only common link is their singing ability. While the clip features other cast members joining in on the “riff off,” Kendrick steals the show at the end.
Also starring Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Alexis Knapp, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Adam Devine, Pitch Perfect opens October 5th. Hit the jump to watch the clip and to see how you can make it into a music video for the movie.

Actress Anna Kendrick (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) is in early negotiations to join the romantic comedy Pitch Perfect. THR has the casting news for the film, which centers on the romance between two members of dueling collegiate a capella teams. If Kendrick signs on, she’ll play the goth-like and rebellious lead who finds the vocal group to be an escape from her unhappy school life. Rebel Wilson, who had a small but memorable role as Kristin Wiig’s roommate in Bridesmaids, is set to star in the film as an a capella group member named Fat Amy. Avenue Q‘s Jason Moore is directing the pic, which is an adaptation of Mickey Rapkin’s nonfiction book of the same name.
Kendrick’s breakout (and Academy Award-nominated) performance came with Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air, and I’ve been a fan of hers ever since. She stars in the upcoming “cancer comedy” 50/50 with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt that opens September 30, and will also appear in What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Actress Rebel Wilson, who was great in Bridesmaids as Kristin Wiig’s roommate, has landed a trio of gigs in the wake of the female-driven comedy’s wild success. THR reports that Wilson has joined the all-star indie comedy Bachelorette, which Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing. The film centers on three best friends who are invited to the wedding of a girl they called “Pigface” in high school. Wilson replaces Casey Wilson in the “Pigface” role after scheduling issues forced the latter out. The cast includes Isla Fischer, Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan as the three girls, as well as scene-stealer Adam Scott. Bachelorette is currently shooting in New York.
Additionally, Wilson is the first person cast in Avenue Q director Jason Moore’s adaptation of the nonfiction book Pitch Perfect. She’ll play a member of a female a capella group named Fat Amy who goes head-to-head against a counterpart from a rival a capella goup (sing-fighting!). Filming is set to get underway this fall in New Orleans. Finally, Wilson is the latest to join the insanely large voice-cast of Ice Age: Continental Drift. The film opens July 13, 2012.
