An international trailer for American Reunion has gone online. The fourth entry in the American Pie franchise sees the return of basically every cast member from the first film as the characters come together for their high school reunion. This international trailer has a couple new scenes that we haven’t seen in the US trailers, and we also learn that in the UK the pic is called American Pie: Reunion (brand recognition!). I’m pretty excited for this fourquel as I was a fan of the first three films. The trailers evoke an odd sense of nostalgia and I’m intrigued to see how these characters reconcile the idea of “growing up.” Also, dick jokes.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

Last month, Universal released a red-band teaser trailer for American Reunion, and once again showed that masturbation isn’t for everyone and certainly not for Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs). Now an all-audiences trailer has gone online and it looks like A) Seann William Scott will once again be the scene-stealer, and B) any jokes that aren’t R-rated are sitcom-level. Even though I’m tired of the characters, I’m willing to give American Reunion a shot since writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg earned my goodwill with the first two Harold & Kumar movies.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

The red-band trailer for American Reunion has gone online. It serves as a helpful reminder that Jim (Jason Biggs) should never masturbate ever again. He’s just not very good at it. However, it does lead to a good gag involving a sock. There’s not much else to say about the trailer since there’s no footage beyond the scene I mentioned. It’s really more of an announcement that people in their 30s are making a teenage sex comedy.

The film also stars Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012. [Update: We've added hi-res versions of the images we ran yesterday.]

The first images from American Reunion have been released. The fourth (real) installment in the American Pie franchise brings the entire gang back together for their high school reunion. The images basically give us a glimpse into how everyone looks eight years after American Wedding. An American Pie image gallery wouldn’t be complete without Stifler’s mom, so she’s there as well. The first trailer for the pic hits tomorrow, so we’ll get a better idea of the film then. If you haven’t seen the surprisingly affecting, nostalgia-inducing slideshow for the film, I encourage you to check it out.
Hit the jump to see the images, and be sure to check back here tomorrow for the full trailer. The film stars Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth. American Reunion opens April 6, 2012.

Jerusha Hess, co-writer of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, is set to make her directorial debut with the indie romantic comedy Austenland. Starring Keri Russell, J.J. Field (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords), Heat Vision reports that the film will also mark the producing debut of Twilight author Stephanie Meyer.
Based on the book by Shannon Hale, Austenland centers on a woman in her 30’s who is so obsessed with the Pride and Prejudice character Mr. Darcy that no real-life man can compare, and her love life pays the toll. She decides to spend her life savings on a trip to a Jane Austen-themed resort in England. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Seymour, Rupert Vansittart and James Callis. Filming begins this week. Hit the jump to read a synopsis of the novel.

Last week we reported that Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, and Eugene Levy were on board for the new American Pie sequel, American Reunion. We also learned that negotiations were underway for original cast members Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge to return. While we already knew that the plot would center on a high-school reunion (it used to be about the pie, man), new details have surfaced that highlight what the individual characters are up to. Hit the jump if you’ve laid awake at night wondering if Steve Stifler found happiness.

Last year, we reported that the American Pie franchise was getting a sequel/reboot, and that writer-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) were looking to bring back the cast from the original movie. Today, The Wrap is reporting that they have begun to succeed in that endeavor by signing Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, and Eugene Levy. Negotiations are also underway with original cast members Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, and Jennifer Coolidge for the new film, which will be titled American Reunion. Apparently there is no love for Alyson Hannigan, Shannon Elizabeth, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Natasha Lyonne, but with champions like Reid and Klein, who needs ‘em! The Wrap also reports that filming is set to begin on May 24th.
Presumably American Reunion will be followed by the sex comedies American Mid-Life Crisis, American Divorce, American Regret, American Nursing Home, and American Funeral. And once you reach American Funeral, the sex jokes write themselves.

Sometimes Nicolas Cage’s choice of films makes it difficult for us to remember just how good of an actor he is. Hey, a guy has to work, right? However, Cage’s performance in Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans serves as a reminder that Cage is in fact worthy of holding the title of Academy Award winner.
Right up there with his performances in 1995′s Leaving Las Vegas and 2002′s Adaptation, Cage’s portrayal of Terrence McDonagh, the “bad lieutenant”, is something that should not be missed. In fact, it seems almost criminal that the film only had a limited release and was overlooked completely throughout awards season. It was easily one of the best of 2009. My full review of Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans on DVD after the jump:

Remember when you thought Nicolas Cage was one of the best actors in the business. When he made films like Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, Vampire’s Kiss, and Face/Off (and I don’t want to hear he wasn’t great in Face/Off, cause he was). Well, I’m happy to report the amazing Nicolas Cage is back and he can be seen in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, which opens in limited release this weekend. While I was one of the people that wondered if Cage and Werner Herzog could do justice to the Bad Lieutenant name, I really shouldn’t have been worried, as Bad Lieutenant is an awesome movie and something that you should go see in a crowded theater this weekend. Also, Cage hasn’t been this good in years.
So to help promote the film, I recently attended a press conference with Cage. He talked about his character, making the film, and a lot more. You can either read what he had to say or listen to the audio after the jump:

Opening on October 30th is director Jared Hess’ (“Napoleon Dynamite”) new movie “Gentlemen Broncos”. While the reviews out of Fantastic Fest were not pretty, this is one of those movies I still want to see due to the cast. After all, who isn’t a fan of Sam Rockwell and Jemaine Clement. Anyway, Fox Searchlight has released two clips from the movie and you can watch them after the jump. I’ve also posted the synopsis if you’re not familiar with the film.

One of my most anticipated films for the rest of the year is “Bad Lieutenant: Port of New Orleans”. It’s Werner Herzog directing Nicolas Cage and it looks just as insane as I was hoping it would. You might have seen the unofficial trailer which popped up a couple of months ago, but we now the official theatrical trailer has been released. While this trailer doesn’t make the film look as weird and as insane as the unofficial one, I think this one does a better job of selling the film. You can watch the trailer after the jump.

Premiering at this year’s Toronto Film Festival is director Werner Herzog’s “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans”. While some may have wondered why they needed to make a new “Bad Lieutenant”, after watching this unofficial trailer, I’m sold. Also, while Nicolas Cage has made a few acting choices that I disagree with in the past few years, I’m still a big fan of his work. Here’s hoping a team up with Werner Herzog will be a good one. Anyway, in about a month we’ll know how it turned out. Until then, take a look at a number of new images from the film.

A slew of posters hit the web today (I’m not sure the quantity of a “slew” but we have four posters below) and I have witty comments on all of them that I’m sure you will enjoy. Or you can just skip my words (and make me sad) and just look at the posters. You’ll find both after the jump.

When Jared Hess’s (“Napoleon Dynamite”, “Nacho Libre”) new film “Gentlemen Broncos” was announced as the opening film at next month’s Fantastic Fest, I figured a theatrical release date wasn’t too far behind. It seems my assumption was correct as Fox Searchlight has just announced an October 30th release.
Unfortunately, their announcement didn’t say if it’s a limited opening or a wide release. But any release date is great news as Jared’s new film stars Michael Angarano, Jennifer Coolidge, Jemaine Clement, Mike White and Sam Rockwell. If you don’t know about the film, the synopsis is after the jump:
