Bryan Singer is at it again. The X-Men: Days of Future Past director has revealed yet another behind-the-scenes peek at a character from the upcoming sequel, this time giving us a look at Jennifer Lawrence in her full body makeup as Mystique. The filmmaker describes the character as “vengeful” in the tweet, suggesting that the complicated relationship between Lawrence’s Mystique and James McAvoy’s Professor X from First Class will continue in this follow-up. We just recently shared what Ellen Page had to say about returning for DOFP and having her picture Tweeted by Singer, so if you missed that story click here to catch up.

Hit the jump to take a look at Lawrence in costume (or, um, body paint). If you missed them check out Singer’s images of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Halle Berry as Storm, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, James McAvoy as Professor X, Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde, and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman. The film also stars Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellan, Anna Paquin, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, and Peter Dinklage. X-Men: Days of Future Past opens July 18, 2014.

Creating the perfect mix of drama, comedy, romance, and powerful acting is often a theatrical recipe that stands just out of reach of most productions. Sometimes the drama and romance is there, but the comedic moments fall flat, or the actors give their all to a script that jumps from place to place, fostering few laughs and even fewer tears. Silver Linings Playbook, an Academy nominated film with an award-winning cast, gives audiences a full helping of laughs, tears, and embraces in amazing, yet equal measure, brought to the table by a stellar group of actors who not only made their characters lovable, but astonishingly believable.

In the film 122-minute film, Pat (Bradley Cooper) has just been checked out of a mental help facility by his mother Dolores (Jacki Weaver), ready, though inadequately prepared, to put his shattered life back together and win back the love of his estranged wife. He begins his quest by moving back into his childhood home with his mother and OCD father, Pat (Robert De Niro), an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. His journey to mental stability is constantly upended by his bipolar mood swings and anger issues, made stronger by his refusal to take his medication, and his utter refusal to let his old life go. Life becomes even more confusing when he attends a dinner at his friends’ home and meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a widow whose abrasive personality clashes with everyone around her. Though full of cringe-worthy moments, the two become close and begin ...

Lionsgate has released a new poster for director Francis Lawrence’s upcoming sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The film finds Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta dealing with the after-effects of the first film, as a nation-wide uprising begins to swell. This new poster is quite visually appealing, and it’s graced with the following quote from the novel “The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand.” While I was admittedly apprehensive about Francis Lawrence taking over the director’s chair from Gary Ross, the first trailer for Catching Fire was pretty spot-on, and this new poster has me really looking forward to seeing more footage from the film.

Hit the jump to check out the new poster. The film also stars Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters.

Via Lionsgate.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire:
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

Director David O. Russell’s follow-up to last year’s crowdpleasing awards contender Silver Linings Playbook now has a title. Previously referred to as American Bullshit, the pic is now titled American Hustle per Box Office Mojo. The story is based on a real-life undercover sting operation called “Abscam”, which was set up in the 1980s by a con artist working for the FBI who rooted out corruption in Congress. The film boasts an incredible ensemble cast that includes a number of Russell regulars like Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro as well as some exciting Russell newcomers like Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Michael Pena, and Jack Huston.

Russell is currently in the middle of production on American Hustle in the New York City area, and we’ve already seen a number of wildly entertaining set photos of the cast done up in their 80s garb. The film opens in limited release on December 13th before going wide on Christmas Day, and it’s safe to assume that American Hustle will be a serious player in this year’s awards race.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for director Francis Lawrence's (Water for Elephants) sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The darkness and melancholy of the first film has only intensified, but this trailer only tells half the story. We're shown the victors' tour, and how President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is trying to tear down the hope-inspiring image of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) before killing her. Only at the end of the trailer, do we hear about the second part of the story, which is the "Quarter Quell", a special Hunger Games where past winners will be forced to fight to the death. I assume they left this out because it's the more effects-heavy part of the story, and that footage is moving through post-production.

The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters.

Though the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to debut later tonight, Lionsgate has unveiled a couple of new images from the Francis Lawrence-directed adaptation to tide fans over these next few hours. These new images give us a look at a few returning characters like Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss, Elizabeth Banks’ Effie, and Donald Sutherland’s President Snow, but we also get a new look at Philip Seymour Hoffman as new Head Gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee (the names don’t exactly get better as the series moves along).

Hit the jump to take a look at the new images, and check back here on Collider later tonight to watch the first trailer. The film also stars Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright and Amanda Plummer, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters.

Two new images from director Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire feature the Everdeen sisters, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Primrose (Willow Shields). If things had gone differently in the events of the original film, we could easily have been watching Prim attempt to survive the games instead of her older sister. We'll find out what's in store for the sisters when the sequel opens later this year.

Also starring Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright and Amanda Plummer, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd in IMAX and traditional theaters. Hit the jump to check out the new images.

Sony Pictures has given Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell’s next film a prime awards season release date later this year. The untitled project (formerly known as American Bullshit) will hit theaters in limited release on December 13th before going wide on Christmas Day. The pic is based on a real-life undercover sting operation called Abscam, which was set up in the 1980s by a con artist working for the FBI who rooted out corruption in Congress.

The cast reads like a “Best Of” from Russell’s filmography, as Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale are set in the leads with Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Louis C.K., Jeremy Renner, and Alessandro Nivola (Face/Off) rounding out the ensemble. Hit the jump for more.

Russell’s Abscam project will undoubtedly be a player in this year’s awards race, and marks one of two Cooper/Lawrence films slated for release in 2013 alongside the period pic Serena. Sony also has their hands full with 2013 awards contenders as they’re also set to release George Clooney’s star-studded WWII film The Monuments Men, the Tom Hanks-fronted true story Captain Phillips, and Moneyball director Bennett Miller’s drama Foxcatcher with Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo.

On Christmas Day, the untitled Russell film will face off against the Keanu Reeves samurai pic 47 Ronin, the Chris Pine actioner Jack Ryan, and Ben Stiller’s comedy remake The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which also stars Kristen Wiig.

Highly-stylized images featuring the stars of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in character have been released over the last two days, but we were surprised by the sudden drop of Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence all dressed up as Katniss Everdeen. You would think they'd hold onto this stunner until all of the other characters had been revealed, but perhaps the studio is hoping to capitalize on the star's current surge in popularity...not that I expect it to abate any time soon.

Check out Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket and Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman here, with Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy and Lenny Kravitz as Cinna here. We're still on the lookout for the first images of Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee. Hit the jump to see the new image of Lawrence as Katniss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which opens November 22nd.

Check out the full image of Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen below (via MSN):

I just finished live-blogging the Oscars. My brain hurts. It wasn't a very good show, and it was a ceremony unworthy of all the great films we saw in 2012. Briefly, the prognosticators were correct and Argo took Best Picture. Ang Lee won his third Oscar and his second Best Director Oscar for Life of Pi, a film that also took home awards for Best Cinematography, Best Score, and Best Visual Effects. In the acting categories, Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for Lincoln, Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook, Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained, and Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables.

Lionsgate’s marketing campaign for the upcoming sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is about to kick into another gear, so prepare accordingly, folks. Today, the studio has unveiled a couple of new posters for the film. These aren't just any posters, though, as they appear to play along with the premise of the books/film by advertising the Victory Tour that Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) embark on as part of their commitment to the Capitol following their triumph at the Hunger Games. It’s actually a pretty neat marketing angle, and I’m eager to see where things go from here.

Hit the jump to take a look at the posters. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film also stars Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, and Amanda Plummer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in traditional theaters and IMAX on November 22nd.

Continuing on with our “Road to Oscar” feature, today we’re going to take a look at how the race for Best Actress played out over the past 12 months. With the 85th Academy Awards taking place this coming Sunday, we figured this week would be a nice opportunity to reflect on how a number of Oscar categories got to where they are today. Join us after the jump as we break down the race for Best Actress.

Unlike Best Actor, the Best Actress race has seen some dramatic ebbs and flows over the past few months. Our first candidate of the Oscar season actually came in January with six-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis in the Sundance hit Beasts of the Southern Wild. The young actress was utterly captivating as Hushpuppy, and her performance is all the more impressive when you realize that she essentially carries the entire film.

Audiences sparked to young Wallis at Sundance and again in the summer when the film hit theaters, and while the actress’ talent was undeniable, some questioned whether the Academy would take notice or if they’d chalk her work up to good direction, given her age. Nevertheless, Wallis remained a part of the conversation in the coming months.

Early 2012 also gave way to a couple of buzzworthy performances in foreign films. The Cannes Film Festival in May saw the premiere of the French film Rust and Bone, and critics were quick to praise previous Best Actress winner Marion Cotillard for her work as a double-amputee whale trainer ...

Director David O. Russell is plotting a third film with actress Jennifer Lawrence. The two are currently making the awards rounds for Silver Linings Playbook, which netted Lawrence a Best Actress Oscar nomination and Russell a Best Director nomination. We recently learned that Lawrence has joined the cast of Russell’s next film, an untitled drama about an undercover sting operation in the 1980s, and now THR reports that Russell is set to direct the Weinstein Company drama The Ends of the Earth with Jennifer Lawrence poised to star.

The pic is based on the lives of Ernest and Lydie Marland and centers on the controversial love affair between the oil baron/eventual Governor of Oklahoma and his adopted daughter and how their relationship lost Ernest everything he had. Argo scribe Chris Terrio wrote the script, and Russell could very well tackle the pic after he wraps his next project. That untitled drama starts shooting next month with a lead cast that includes Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, and Amy Adams—all of whom Russell has worked with in the past.

Jennifer Lawrence has a solid shot at winning the Best Actress Oscar later this month for her work in Silver Linings Playbook, and it looks like she’ll be reteaming with a couple of SLP vets sooner rather than later. Deadline reports that Lawrence is set to join the already impressive cast for director David O. Russell’s next film, formerly titled American Bullshit. The pic is based on a real-life undercover sting operation called Abscam, which was set up in the 1980s by a con artist working for the FBI who rooted out corruption in Congress. Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale are set in the lead roles, and now Lawrence is poised to star as Bale’s wife.

Lawrence and Cooper actually already have another film together in the can, as the period thriller Serena will be released later this year. Production on Russell’s Abscam film is set to begin this month with Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, and Louis C.K. rounding out the cast. Lawrence will then move on to filming the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will open in 2014.

Current Best Actress Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence was recognized as Outstanding Performer of the Year at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). Whether it was her memorable debut in The Poker House, her first Oscar-nominated role in Winter’s Bone, indies like The Beaver and Like Crazy, or her star-making turns in last year’s The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook (for which she has received her second Oscar nomination), the 22-year-old from Kentucky is proving herself to be one of Hollywood’s most talented young actors. Collider was there to cover and attend the event, and we’ve compiled the highlights of what she had to say, both on the press line and during the Q&A.

While there, Jennifer Lawrence talked about what this past year has been like for her, how she got her start in acting, why she’s never taken any acting lessons, what the experience of making her first feature film The Poker House was like, what spoke to her about the character of Tiffany when she read the script for Silver Linings Playbook, why she doesn’t like to read her scenes ahead of time, working with Bradley Cooper again on the Depression-era drama Serena (due out in theaters in September), what made her hesitate about taking on the role of Katniss Everdeen for The Hunger Games franchise, what it was like to revisit the character for Catching Fire, what she learned from working with Jodie Foster on The Beaver, why she fought for the role of Ree in ...

The Oscars picture is starting to emerge. Last night, Argo won the Producers Guild Award for Best Picture, and tonight Ben Affleck's drama has won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. With tonight's win, Argo is slowly moving towards being the first film since Driving Miss Daisy to win Best Picture at the Oscars even though the director didn't pick up a nomination. Like Driving Miss Daisy, Argo will have managed the incredible task of directing itself. The night's other film actor winners included Daniel Day-Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Tommy Lee Jones, and Anne Hathaway. It will be interesting to see how these will match up with the Oscar winners. Over on the TV side, Downton Abbey broke Homeland's awards-streak by picking up Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
