We have a couple of quick casting stories to report this morning. First up, Mia Wasikowska will star opposite Jesse Eisenberg in The Double. Directed by Richard Ayoade (Submarine) and based on the novella by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the film stars Eisenberg as a government clerk whose life is destroyed after what he believes to be an exact copy of himself begins working in his office and attempts to ruin his life. There’s currently no word on Wasikowska’s role in the comedy, but Screen Daily reports that filming is set to begin shooting in the UK in the spring/summer. Wasikowska will be seen later this year in The Wettest County and she’s also attached to star in Jim Jarmusch‘s crypto-vampire movie Only Lovers Left Alive. In December, she was reportedly offered the lead female role in Spike Lee‘s remake of Oldboy.

Major films at Comic-Con want to keep their cards close to the vest, but the smaller films need to show more to get some attention. Knights of Badassdom is a smaller film but it’s got a great premise: a group of LARPers (Live-Action Role Players) head out into the woods, end up doing a real spell, and accidentally summon a blood-thirsty demon. As the demon starts picking off LARPers, three friends (played by Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, and Peter Dinklage) have to find a way to defeat the demon. It sounds like a fun blend of comedy, horror, and fantasy and it’s one of my most-anticipated panels of the Con. Major films sell themselves, but Knights of Badassdom has a shot at winning over an audience unfamiliar with the flick.

[Update: We've added the trailer after the jump.]

In the horror adventure Knights of Badassdom, a group of costumed LARPers (Live Action Role Players) take to the woods to re-enact a scenario right out of the Middle Ages, and a make-believe wizard casts an all-too-real spell that conjures an actual demon with a taste for human blood. As the demon starts to systematically decimate the players in this suddenly deadly game, three friends (played by Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn and Peter Dinklage) must team up with a hot, ass-kicking LARPer, while hoping to survive and make it out with their lives.
During a recent interview to promote the film’s presentation at this year’s Comic-Con, director Joe Lynch talked about how crazy it was to find out that they were getting a coveted Saturday spot in Hall H, how the film was influenced by Shaun of the Dead and An American Werewolf in London, wanting to be very accurate and completely embrace the LARPing community, using as many practical monsters and creatures as they could, and how having a great cast that were totally into the role-playing made filming a total blast. Check out what he had to say after the jump:

Universal has already issued their horror releases for Halloween, and I’ve already reviewed them, so I’m reviewing half of the 20th Century Fox releases for Halloween. Child’s Play, and Wrong Turns one and two. At least two of these movies are pretty good. My reviews after the jump.
