In addition to the new banner posters for The Dark Knight Rises, we’ve stumbled across this new secret poster featuring Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).  It’s a pretty slick little piece which reminds us that, while Bane (Tom Hardy) might be getting all of the attention as of late, both audiences and Batman (Christian Bale) shouldn’t forget about the feline femme fatale. Director Christopher Nolan’s closing piece to his Batman trilogy also stars Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Liam Neeson.  The film opens July 20th.  Hit the jump to see the new poster.

It turns out that American Idol is still good for some things, like airing this new TV spot for The Dark Knight RisesChristopher Nolan’s epic final piece to his Batman trilogy is now less than two months away, but don’t expect the marketing to stop any time soon.  We recently posted some new images, a slew of character posters and even the Tumbler and Bat-Pod on tour in all their gritty glory.  This new TV spot gives us a better look at the Bat-Wing, which is good, since pretty much all we knew about it before was “it’s not a car.” There are also some new shots of Tom Hardy’s Bane accompanied by some dialogue I had to listen to twice to understand.  Some good shots of Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne and Michael Caine’s Alfred sharing some dialogue.  What are you waiting for? Hit the jump to check it out! [Updated with a second TV spot featuring Catwoman.]

Since releasing the first images of Tom Hardy as Bane, fans of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises started asking, “What’s up with that mask?”  A new article in Rolling Stone seems to have answered the question along with a point-by-point graphic detailing just why the muscle-bound madman needs a mask at all (and the answer provides a key plot point).  On the other side of the spectrum is the also-masked vigilante known as Batman (Christian Bale), and in this new wanted poster supposedly released by Warner Bros., we see exactly what the Caped Crusader is accused of doing.

The Dark Knight Rises also stars Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman and Liam Neeson.  Look for the bat to bow on July 20th.  Hit the jump to check out the images.

Update: Thanks to a number of readers emails, we’ve been informed the Wanted Poster was part of the earlier viral marketing campaign.

Two new images and set photo from Rian Johnson‘s Looper have gone online.  The futuristic thriller takes place in a world where time travel exists, but is only used on the black market. When the mob wants to kill someone, they send the target 30 years into the past where a contract killer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) does the dirty work. Things are going smoothly until Gordon-Levitt’s future self (Bruce Willis) is sent into the past to be killed.  As a huge fan of Johnson’s previous films, Brick and The Brothers BloomLooper is easily one of my most-anticipated films of the year, and I’m happy to get a few more glances at the flick.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo, and Jeff DanielsLooper opens on September 28th.

After posting the trailer for director Rian Johnson’s Looper yesterday, some of you may have been left with questions about the time-traveling assassin flick.  As luck has it, Johnson took a few minutes to dissect the trailer and call out specific things that fans should be anticipating.  Johnson not only spoke about the look of the film, in what he called a “grounded science fiction world,” but also advised fans to wait and see Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s performance in make-up to get the total picture.  He also commented on filming action scenes with Bruce Willis, saying that the veteran “showed us the ropes.” Looper also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo, and Jeff Daniels and opens on September 28th.  Hit the jump to see Johnson’s commentary and trailer for Looper.

The first trailer for writer-director Rian Johnson‘s Looper has gone online. As a huge fan of Johnson’s previous work, Brick and The Brothers Bloom, I was already pretty damn excited for Looper, but this trailer is incredibly cool.  I love the premise and cast, and it looks as if Johnson has applied his wholly original filmmaking style to the sci-fi genre to great success.  I still don’t entirely know how Gordon-Levitt’s Bruce Willis impression is gonna play for an extended period of time, but it’s a minor qualm and I really haven’t seen enough footage to make a fair assessment.  All in all, I’m willing to bet Johnson’s about to go 3 for 3.

3 Teasers for the Trailer for Rian Johnson’s LOOPER Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis

I’m annoyed with teasers for trailers, but with Looper I’ll make an exception.  Rian Johnson‘s sci-fi film is one of my most-anticipated of the year, and this tease only makes me more amped for the picture.  For those unfamiliar with the flick, the futuristic thriller takes place in a world where time travel exists, but is only used on the black market. When the mob wants to kill someone, they send the target 30 years into the past where a contract killer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) does the dirty work. Things are going smoothly until Gordon-Levitt’s future self (Bruce Willis) is sent into the past to be killed.  I’ve been a little skeptical of the make-up job to make Gordon-Levitt look like Willis, but the tease puts my fears to rest because it works when you see it in motion.

Hit the jump to check out the teaser, and if you missed it on Friday, click here to check out the poster.  The full trailer will be online in three day.  Looper opens September 28th and co-stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo, and Jeff Daniels. [Update: We've updated the article with two more teasers that offer more new footage.]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt No Longer in Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: April 5th, 2012 at 9:05 am

Quentin Tarantino has lined up an amazing cast for his Western-style, 1800s Southern-set revenge story Django Unchained, but the movie has now lost one of its best actors.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt tells MTV that he was unable to fit the movie into his busy schedule.  The story centers on an escaped slave (Jamie Foxx) who becomes a bounty hunter, and goes to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from a vicious plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio).  Gordon-Levitt would have had a small role in the movie, but the talented actor is currently wrapped up in his untitled directorial debut (although MTV is calling it Don Jon’s Addiction).  It looks this year we’ll have to settle for seeing him in only The Dark Knight Rises, Looper, Premium Rush, and Lincoln.  There’s no word if Tarantino has scrapped Gordon-Levitt’s role like he did when Michael Kenneth Williams was unable to join the project.

Thankfully, Tarantino’s flick still has plenty of other great actors on the bench.  The film also stars Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Garrett Dillahunt, Walton Goggins, RZA, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and Sacha Baron CohenDjango Unchained opens December 25th.

Julianne Moore in Talks to Join Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Directorial Debut

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: March 28th, 2012 at 2:44 pm

Coming off an electric performance in Game Change, Julianne Moore is poised to head into more (intentionally) comedic territory. Variety reports that Moore is now in talks to join Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s untitled feature directorial debut. Gordon-Levitt also wrote the project and will star as a modern day Don Juan who sets out on a quest to become less of a “selfish dick.” Moore would play an unlikely mentor to Gordon-Levitt’s character, and Scarlett Johansson is also on board to co-star.

Gordon-Levitt has been helming shorts for years now, so he’s no newbie to the director’s chair. He cited his experience with filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, Rian Johnson and Steven Spielberg as preparation for his feature debut. Moore has a role in the fantasy epic Seventh Son opposite Jeff Bridges, which just started principal photography, and she’s also apparently a contender for the mother role in the Carrie remake alongside Chloe Moretz.
