Here's a bit more casting news for you today:

Hugo co-stars Asa Butterfield and Chloë Grace Moretz will reunite for The White Circus, the debut feature from the writing-directing team of Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, known collectively as Clyde Henry.
Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air) will join Zach Braff's successfully Kickstarted movie, Wish I Was Here.

Hit the jump for more on both casting announcements.

First up from Screen Daily comes the news that Butterfield and Moretz will be joining the dark fantasy tale, The White Circus. Also on board are Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion) and Christian Friedel (The White Ribbon). The movie is described as “a dark fairytale of with moments of brilliant black comedy” and it centers on a young pilot who crashes his plane in a war-torn town and "befriends a talking circus bear, falls in love with a cabaret singer and challenges a maniacal despot." The picture will start shooting in Germany and Serbia in February of next year. Moretz will be seen in Kick-Ass 2 this August, followed by the Carrie remake in October. Butterfield will then take the screen in November with Ender's Game.

The Wrap reports that Kendrick is the latest addition to Braff's Wish I Was Here. The project started off on the Kickstarter website as a follow up to Garden State. Though this is an independent project with no studio backing - compared to the Veronica Mars campaign - the film did just land financing from Worldview Entertainment. The film's budget is expected to be under ...

For a movie about a man who championed innovation, Joshua Michael Stern's Steve Jobs biopic, jOBS, is awfully safe and conventional. By the end of the movie, most viewers will know as much as they previously did about the tech innovator or possibly even less. Stern and screenwriter Matt Whiteley's depiction of Jobs makes one of the most influential figures in American business seem like nothing more like a savvy salesman who bullied people into following his vision. Ashton Kutcher's lead performance veers between convincing and distracting, and while Josh Gad impresses as Steve "Woz" Wozniak, jOBS is a bland biopic that never provides any insight into the man behind the Apple.

Playing by the standard rise-fall-redemption arc, jOBS begins by showing us Steve Jobs' (Kutcher) presentation of the first iPod in 2001 before cutting back to his college years and showing us his spiritual, free-thinking origins. Although we see him expanding his mind in India, we quickly meet the bossy, demanding Jobs who worked at Atari in 1976 before teaming up with tech guru Woz (Gad) and eventually launching Apple Computers. From there, we basically know where the story goes because jOBS feels like a dramatization of a Wikipedia page.

Sometimes Stern and Whiteley give us even less as they never explain how Macintosh was different than the Lisa computer, and why the former was deemed less worthy of consideration by Apple's board members. While jOBS gives us the major points in the Apple founder's life, it provides almost no depth ...

Here's the synopsis for jOBS:
JOBS details the major moments and defining characters that influenced Steve Jobs on a daily basis from 1971 through 2001. JOBS plunges into the depths of his character, creating an intense dialogue-driven story that is as much a sweeping epic as it is an immensely personal portrait of Steve Jobs’ life.

The filmmakers strove for absolute authenticity in making the film, including shooting in the historic garage in Palo Alto, that served as the birthplace to Apple Inc. JOBS stars Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons and Matthew Modine.
Check out the first clip from Bullet to the Head (via IGN):

I'll admit I was biased against the NBC's new White House sitcom 1600 Penn, about a "dysfunctional First Family," after I saw the terrible, terrible, parody-esque bump the network made for it (seriously, isn't that the same style/music 30 Rock uses to make fun of terrible fictional NBC shows like "Queen of Jordan"?). But a series shouldn't be punished because of an inept promo editor, and some early positive buzz from a few trusted sources had me watching the first three episodes with cautious optimism. Unfortunately, that feeling didn't last through even one segment.

The pilot, which aired as a sneak peak in December, is (confusingly) not the episode that will (from my understanding) be kicking off the series this month. It's a shame, too, because the pilot at least explains the set up, which the second episode sorely needs. Hit the jump for the Who's Who of 1600 Penn, and whether it's worth tuning in for.

Quasi-reprising his role from Independence Day, Bill Pullman again plays the President, with Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg) as his "trophy wife" (a device I actually liked -- for once there's a reason the mother is only 10 years older than her children, though not why she only weighs 45 pounds). The kids including Josh Gad (from Broadway's The Book of Mormon), who has also helped create the series alongside Jason Winer (Modern Family). Rounding out the group is a perfectionist daughter (Martha MacIsaac, Superbad), and two rarely-seen younger siblings without much personality yet (Amara Miller and Benjamin Stockham).

Most of the inaugural (see what I did there?) three episodes focus on the perfectionist ...

The new NBC comedy series 1600 Penn follows the lives of the Gilchrists, who are just the average American family dealing with everyday issues, all while living in the White House. The President (Bill Pullman) is finding it more difficult to be the head of his family than the head of the country, the First Lady (Jenna Elfman) is trying to win over her step-kids and the First Son (Josh Gad) just keeps sticking his foot in it, especially when it comes to his pregnant sister (Martha MacIsaac).

While on a set visit, where Collider and a few outlets were invited to tour the Oval Office and then conduct interviews in the Situation Room, co-creators/executive producers Josh Gad and Jason Winer (who also directed the pilot) talked about what led to them creating a family comedy set in the White House, why the Skip character was such a natural starting point to introduce the First Family, how the perception of the other characters will change as viewers get to know them better, balancing the lovable idiot aspect of Skip so that he never gets grating and annoying, the amount of improvisation done during filming, and Skip’s love interest. Josh Gad also talked about how perplexed and pleasantly surprised he is about the success that he’s gotten from being in the original Broadway cast of The Book of Mormon. Check out what they had to say after the jump.

Question: In the pilot, viewers were introduced to the First Family through Skip’s eyes. ...

It looks as if that Twins sequel is moving forward. Deadline reports that The Book of Mormon star Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon have been tapped to pen the treatment for Triplets, with Dixon handling the script. The follow-up has Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reprising their roles from the 1988 comedy as mismatched siblings. As previously reported, the follow-up will find them getting in touch with a third brother played by Eddie Murphy. Hit the jump to see what Schwarzenegger told us about the sequel when we spoke to him on the set of the upcoming actioner The Last Stand.

We talked with Schwarzenegger on the set of The Last Stand earlier this year, and he was enthusiastic about Eddie Murphy joining in on the fun, even throwing up some marketing suggestions while he was at it:
“I’d find somebody like Eddie Murphy or someone [laughs] that people would say, ‘How does that happen, medically speaking?’ and, ‘Physically, there’s no way.’ Then somehow we would explain it. That would be hilarious with what we know about someone like him. You’ve got to find people that, in real life, people laugh about them and whatever we know about them that makes you laugh. I can see a poster, a billboard, with us three… ‘They found another one. Triplets. Only their mother can tell them apart.’ I would do that in two seconds, because that’s real entertainment. You come out with that movie for Christmas, like December 5th or something like that, and you’re home free, ...

If you're going to center your movie's plot around a cutting-edge technology firm, take a lesson from director Shawn Levy and choose Google. Levy's The Internship stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as two out of touch salesmen who reinvent themselves at a tech company through a highly contentious internship. Today on Twitter, Levy revealed that the company would be the very real, and very progressive, Google. The director has also accompanied his Tweets of late with set photos. Hit the jump to check them out.

If you don't already follow Levy on Twitter, remedy that by clicking here. Here's what Levy had to say about the pending location for The Internship:
"Amazed I kept my mouth shut for 4months about the real setting of #TheInternship .Happily,it's now public. We're going to Google,baby.Google."

Google, recreated at GeorgiaTech by our brilliant ProductionDesigner TomMeyer. Filming at real Googleplex in sept...!
Here are some set photos Tweeted by Levy that feature Vaughn, Wilson, JoAnna Garcia, BJ Novak and Thomas Lennon. Unfortunately we haven't seen any images yet of Will Ferrell, who is expected to cameo in the film to complete the Wedding Crashers cast reunion.

Here are some casting updates at a glance:

Selena Gomez (Monte Carlo) has joined Parental Guidance Suggested, a rock-and-roll odyssey from writer/director Tim Garrick.
Josh Gad (Love and Other Drugs) is the latest to join Shawn Levy's The Internship, a comedic reunion of Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
Miles Teller (Project X) and Analeigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love) will star in Two Night Stand, a romantic comedy from Black List scribe Mark Hammer that will be the directorial debut of Max Nichols.
Josh Hamilton (J. Edgar) is set to join Keri Russell in Dark Skies, a sci-fi horror picture from Priest director, Scott Charles Stewart.

Hit the jump for more on each project.

THR reports that Gomez will star as Nina Pennington, the object of 16-year-old Ric Thibault's crush in Parental Guidance Suggested, an adaptation of the 2000 Ric Browde novel, "While I'm Dead...Feed the Dog." Nat Wolff (New Year's Eve) will star as Thibault in the coming-of-age comedy while Austin Stowell (The Secret Life of American Teenager) plays Nina's overbearing boyfriend. The picture also features Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story) and Cary Elwes (Saw).

Deadline reports that Gad is set to play Headphones, a prickly engineer at the tech firm where Vaughn and Wilson take The Internship. While he never actually listens to anything through his titular headphones, he always wears them. Gad recently wrapped his portrayal of Steve Wozniak in the Ashton Kutcher-starrer, Jobs.

From Variety comes word of Teller and Tipton starring in Two Night Stand, what's sure to be a cute romantic comedy ...

The second full trailer for Ice Age: Continental Drift has been released. The fourth installment in the Ice Age franchise finds the kooky characters attempting to survive the breakup of Pangea, when Earth’s supercontinent begins to rift. Though I’m not the biggest fan of the series, there are more than a few laughs to be found in this latest trailer. The MVP of the franchise has always been John Leguizamo’s Sid the Sloth, and he shines in this latest clip. We also get a glimpse of the film’s antagonists, a gang of pirates led by a prehistoric orangutan voiced by Peter Dinklage.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The voice-cast includes Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Wedge, John Leguizamo, Aziz Ansari, Nick Frost, Joy Behar, JB Smoove, Alan Tudyk, Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Kunal Nayyar, Alain Chabat, and hip/hop artist Nicki Minaj. Ice Age: Continental Drift opens in 3D on July 13th.

Here’s the synopsis for Ice Age: Continental Drift:
Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

The first images from the sex addict dramedy Thanks for Sharing have gone online. The film marks the directorial debut of The Kids Are All Right co-writer Stuart Blumberg and features an all-star cast in this story of three sex addicts struggling to function in normal society. Mark Ruffalo plays an addict who’s trying to strike up a relationship with a woman who has sworn off dating other addicts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Tim Robbins plays a man married to his high school sweetheart who actually becomes addicted to his 12-step recovery program, and Book of Mormon star Josh Gad plays a young man whose addiction is so bad that he hides a camera in his shoe in order to film up women’s skirts.

The film certainly looks much lighter than that other sex addict movie from last year, Shame, and I’m a big fan of the ensemble cast. Hopefully we see a trailer soon. The film also stars Joely Richardson, Patrick Fugit, and Alecia Moore aka Pink. [Update: Apparently these images were not approved for release and we've been asked to take them down. We'll have official stills from the film up once they're available.]

Here’s the synopsis for Thanks for Sharing:
From the Academy Award nominated writer of The Kids are All Right, Thanks for Sharing is a touching and unpredictable comedy that follows three sex addicts as they struggle to function in society while maintaining meaningful relationships. Along the way, Adam (Ruffalo) attempts to forge a relationship with Phoebe(Paltrow), a wildly independent ...

We've got a smattering of casting news to throw your way this morning. First up, Stellan Skarsgard and Hiroyuki Sanada (the upcoming action flick 47 Ronin) have joined the Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) in Jonathan Teplitzy's drama The Railway Man. Firth plays real-life World War II British officer Eric Lomax, who was captured and tortured by the Japanese. Decades later, he's persuaded by his wife (Kidman) to find and confront one of his captors in order to repair the psychological damage. Irvine plays the younger Lomax who was in the war. According to Variety, "Skarsgard will play the best friend who accompanies the older Lomax (Firth) back to the scene of his torture. Sanada plays a Japanese officer from the prison camp whom Lomax tracks down." This is turning out to be a terrific cast, and judging by the synopsis, this could be a big role for Sanada, whose previous credits include Speed Racer, Sunshine, and Lost.

Hit the jump for more casting news on the indie flicks Jobs, Kilimanjaro, and You Are Here.

Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon) is in talks to star opposite Ashton Kutcher in the Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs. Gad would play geek-beloved Apple I creator and Apple II co-creator Steve Wozniak. Per Variety, Joshua Michael Stern's indie "chronicles Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time." I really hope this movie works like music biopics where an ...

Fans of Party Down will be happy to see Ken Marino once again returning to the small screen in ABC's comedy pilot American Judy by Judy Greer (Archer). The project follows Greer's character, a newly married suburban housewife who struggles to raise her step-kids, deal with her mother-in-law and stay out of the line of fire of her husband's ex-wife, who happens to be the town sheriff. Marino will star as Greer's husband. Based on Greer's real-life events, American Judy will be written and executive produced by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont.

In other casting news, The Descendants' Amara Miller will be moving to 1600 Penn in the NBC presidential family comedy pilot. Starring as Marigold, the youngest daughter of the President (Bill Pullman), Miller will play one half of the family's twins. Hit the jump for more on each project.

THR reported that Marino would be joining Greer in American Judy. Marino joins the cast along with Erica Ash (MADtv), who will play Mia. Other cast members include Mimi Kennedy (Midnight in Paris), Elaine Hendrix (The Parent Trap), Jadon Sand (Parenthood) and Madison Lintz (The Walking Dead).

THR also reported on Miller's addition to the first family at 1600 Penn. The project, from 20th Century Fox, follows the dysfunctional Presidential family in which their eldest son (Josh Gad of Love and Other Drugs) returns home to become not only the family's biggest liability, but their best hope at unity. 1600 Penn also stars Brittany Snow (Hairspray) as the over-achieving daughter and ...

A new trailer for the fourth installment in the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Continental Drift, has gone online. In this adventure, Scrat accidentally triggers the breakup of Pangea and thus the splitting of the continents while pursuing that ever-elusive acorn (seriously, there are other acorns in the world, Scrat). This trailer highlights this entry’s newest inhabitants: the Gigantopithecus (an extinct genus of ape). I’m not the biggest fan of the series, but kids seem to love it and the movies make a great deal of money at the box office so I guess there’s an audience for the fourth entry.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The voice-cast includes Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Wedge, John Leguizamo, Aziz Ansari, Nick Frost, Joy Behar, JB Smoove, Alan Tudyk, Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Kunal Nayyar, Alain Chabat, and hip/hop artist Nicki Minaj. Ice Age: Continental Drift opens in 3D on July 13th.

Now this movie makes much more sense. While I was initially skeptical of a douche-infused adaptation of Neil Strauss’s pickup artist memoir The Game, it appears the project is being developed with a comedy bent. Book of Mormon star Josh Gad is in negotiations to star as the lead in the pic, a Rolling Stone journalist who struggles with picking up women. James Franco is onboard as Gad’s mentor in the art of tailchasing. Gad has gained notoriety thanks to his hilarious performance in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, and in addition to The Game it appears he might be poised to land his own TV show. Hit the jump for more, including a synopsis of The Game.

In addition to news concerning The Game, Deadline also reports that NBC has given a pilot order to the White House comedy series 1600 Penn. The show is leagues away from NBC’s The West Wing, as it centers on the out-of-control eldest son of a dysfunctional family returns home and becomes a major liability. The kicker? Gad’s family is The First Family. Gad will stars as the son in the pilot, and also the series if NBC likes what they see from the pilot. The show comes from Modern Family director Jason Winer and Jon Lovett, a former speechwriter to President Obama. Gad’s Book of Mormon co-star Andrew Rannells also landed a high-profile NBC pilot, Ryan Murphy’s half-hour comedy The New Normal.

Here’s the synopsis for The Game:

Bill Hader, Kate Hudson, and Josh Gad will lend their voices to the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film Me & My Shadow. Per THR, the fantasy film stars as a bored shadow (Hader) who is tethered to a timid human (Gad), but gets the excitement he yearns for when a crime in the shadow community propels them into adventure to stop a shadowy villain from taking over the human world. Hudson will voice Grubb's love interest in the real-world.

When we reported on the film back in December 2010, Mark Dindal (The Emperor's New Groove) was set to direct, but he's been replaced by How to Train Your Dragon's head of story, Alessandro Carloni, who will make his directing debut on Shadow. The film will blend CGI animation (the human world) with hand-drawn animation (the shadow world), and I'm excited to see the result. Me & My Shadow is due out November 13, 2013.

With his current role on the hit Broadway show Book of Mormon seeing full theaters from sold out performances every single week, actor Josh Gad is already riding quite the wave of success. However, the actor who has also been seen in films like Love & Other Drugs and 21 is now bringing his talents to TV, but this time only on the page. Vulture has word that Gad just sold a half-hour comedy pilot to NBC called 1600 Penn. The project follows a dysfunctional family, but this group of relatives just happens to be the First Family, living in the White House. Jon Lovvett, a writer who once wrote speeches for President Barack Obama, co-created and will executive produce the new series with Gad. Even better news for the project comes in the form of director Jason Winer (Modern Family) stepping up to helm the new pilot. That is, if the project gets the greenlight to move forward. But since there's a hefty penalty deal if the project doesn't get a pilot order, it'll likely get put together for the next TV season pretty easily. It sounds like something along the lines of a Washington DC-based Arrested Development meets Modern Family kind of deal. If it's half as funny as either of those comedies, then I'm already sold.

The first trailer for the comedy Mardi Gras is now available online. Starring Nicholas D'Agostso (Final Destination 5), Josh Gad (The Rocker and Trey Parker and Matt Stone's The Book of Mormon), Danneel Harris (Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay), Arielle Kebbel (John Tucker Must Die), and Bret Harrison (personal favorite Grounded for Life) the film follows three college seniors who take a trip to New Orleans' iconic fare and inevitably find sex, booze, and apparently a "feces bomb." I'm not even going to ask.
While many of Mardi Gras' above listed stars have moved on to bigger projects, I can't really generate any excitement for the flick mainly for one reason: Carmen Electra is in it. If there's one surefire way to lose my interest in a film, it's to either tell me "Hey, we put a classic horror character you like in space" or "Hey, Carmen Electra is in this movie." Nevertheless, you can check out the trailer after the jump. Directed by Phil Dornfeld, Mardi Gras opens on September 23rd.

But after dressing in drag, breaking into Carmen Electra’s hotel room, starring in a scandalous sex show and accidentally exploding a feces bomb in a swank hotel ...

We have several bits of casting news to bring your way tonight. First up, Scoot McNairy (upcoming Cogan's Trade) has joined the cast of director/star Ben Affleck's Argo. In addition to Affleck, McNairy will also appear alongside Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, and Alan Arkin in the Warner Bros. pic that is based upon a 2007 article from Wired magazine. Chris Terrio adapted the Joshuah Bearman piece entitled "How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran" which tells the rescue story of six U.S. diplomats in 1979. Variety scooped the news of McNairy's casting, but doesn't divulge any details regrading his character. The film is currently eyeing a 2012 release.
Next up, High School Musical's Corbin Bleu is taking his talents from an educational setting to a medical one. The actor has signed on to star alongside Paz De La Huerta and 30 Rock's Katrina Bowden in Lionsgate's horror flick Nurse 3D. According to Variety, Bleu will take on the role of Bowden's boyfriend (poor guy), who gets caught up in (a.k.a. most likely murdered) the violent outbursts of De La Huerta's character, Abby. In case you want to learn a little more about the film, this NSFW concept art should pretty much tell you all you need to know. Nurse 3D is also aiming for an unspecified 2012 release. To read about the approximately one thousand names joining Nick Frost in Ice Age: Continental Drift, hit the jump.
Successfully completing the trifecta of casting news, Variety also ...

Oliver Platt is like a terrible curse. Platt is a great actor - he’s one of the best working actors in the world - but often he’s in great movies that no one sees (The Ice Harvest) or is the best thing in bad movies that either make money (2012) or don’t (Year One). Love and Other Drugs didn’t find its audience, but like always Oliver Platt is one of the best things in it.
