Comic-Con 2011: Katey Sagal and Creator Kurt Sutter Interview SONS OF ANARCHY

On the popular FX drama series Sons of Anarchy, the events at the end of Season 3 saw much of SAMCRO heading out for a 14-month prison sentence. Now, for Season 4, premiering on September 6^th, the guys return to Charming and find it to be very different from the town that they left. With a new mayor and a new sheriff, the town has undergone some development that leaves the club less than happy with the new law enforcement in town.

Prior to their Comic-Con presentation in Hall H, actress Katey Sagal and show creator Kurt Sutter talked about the changes in Charming, the new additions to the cast (which includes Rockmond Dunbar, Ray McKinnon and Danny Trejo), how things have been for Gemma (Sagal) while the guys have been in prison, and the status of the relationship between Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Tara (Maggie Siff) when they’re reunited. The FX Network drama Sons of Anarchy tells the story of Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), SAMCRO’s Vice-President and the son of John Teller, founder of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club. His mother, Gemma (Katey Sagal), is married to SAMCRO President Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), whom she married after the death of her first husband, Jax’s father.

Just when viewers thought things couldn’t get more emotional than last season’s horrific gang rape of Gemma, the finale saw her framed for murder and on the lam, and Jax’s infant son kidnapped by a member of the IRA. The highly anticipated third season, premiering on September 7^th, picks up with the Sons reeling from the aftermath and Jax in deep turmoil over his future with the club.

During a recent interview, co-stars Charlie Hunnam and Katey Sagal talked about the intense emotions of Season 3, expanding the story internationally, and getting to live and work in a world that is dark and dangerous, but ultimately about the strength of family. Review: First Four Episodes of SONS OF ANARCHY Season Three

As cliffhangers go, fans of the show will remember, the ending of season two of FX’s Sons of Anarchy was a real doozy.

With the SAMCRO crew watching from the end of the dock, “Irish” absconded with Jax’s (Charlie Hunnam) baby Abel, while simultaneously, Gemma (Katey Sagal, yes, really) had been framed for two murders by agent Stahl (Ally Walker) and was on the lam with Police Chief Unser (Dayton Callie).  Got all that? Hit the jump to find out what’s in store next for the motorcycle club with, if not quite a heart of gold, at least an odd sense of justice that makes the show extremely watchable.

FUTURAMA Season Six Premiere Review

It has been seven years since Fox cancelled Futurama in 2003.  Thanks to solid ratings in syndication, the animated sci-fi spoof was revived for four DVD movies, which Comedy Central repurposed for a makeshift season five starting in 2008.  The network must have been happy with the results, as they ordered a whopping twenty-six new episodes.  Hit the jump for a review of the first two, “Rebirth” and “In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela,” which premiere on June 24th at 10/9c.

Collider Exclusive Interview – SONS OF ANARCHY Stars Katey Sagal and Maggie Siff

At the end of my “Sons of Anarchy” set visit, I was surprised to find myself alone.  The other journalists had gone home or to other engagements, but since my schedule was surprisingly free, I said I’d hang around for a few more minutes.  Less than five minutes later, I was presented with the opportunity to conduct exclusive interviews with Katey Sagal (Gemma) and Maggie Siff (Tara), and naturally I immediately accepted.  Sagal is, of course, the brilliant actor of “Married With Children”, “8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter”, and “Futurama” fame.  Maggie Siff, in addition to her major role in “Sons of Anarchy”, also currently appears in the immensely popular AMC show “Mad Men”, so it was a real treat to be able to sit down with the two and talk about the show.  We talked about shaping their character’s personal motivations in the new season, the inherent misogyny of biker gangs and how it’s been overcome, and how the characters they play on “Sons of Anarchy” are different than anything they’ve ever done before.  Check out the entire interview after the jump.

SONS OF ANARCHY Season One Blu-ray Review

Shortly after the turn of the millennium, the FX network realized that most television viewers tuning in after 10pm were adults, and as such were perfectly capable of being treated like adults.   This revelation meant that no longer would sanitized television be necessary to maintain sponsorship, and it meant that edgier, cinema-like shows were viable outside of the HBO realm both in terms of quality and viewership.  Over the past 7 years, FX has laid claim to some of the best dramas on television: “The Shield”, “Nip/Tuck”, and “Rescue Me”.  It’s time to add one more to the list.

FUTURAMA Will Be Back With All Voice Talent Present and Accounted For

It looks like “Futurama” will be coming back to television with its voice talent intact.  Fox has reached a deal with “Futurama” regulars Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille , John DiMaggio and Maurice LaMarche that will keep the gang at Planet Express cracking wise for at least 26 episodes.  More after the jump…

FUTURAMA Getting Re-cast?

In news that has sent the interwebs into a frenzy, Forces of Geek and The Hollywood Reporter are saying that Fox has retreated to their usual douchy-selves and will be recasting the voice actors of “Futurama” because Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, and Maurice LaMarche.  It’s kind of surprising since they were all scheduled to appear at the “Futurama” panel at Comic-Con with show producers Matt Groening and David X.
