We’ve got a couple of casting stories to share this evening.  First up, Cole Hauser (2 Fast 2 Furious) has been added to the fifth entry in the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die HardDeadline reports that Hauser has landed the pivotal supporting role of Collins, a villain, in the John Moore-directed film. The pic finds Bruce Willis’ John McClane teaming up with his son (Jai Courtney) in Russia, as the two become, shall we say, not welcome in the country.  This will be the third time Hauser has starred opposite Willis, as the two previously worked together in Tears of the Sun and Hart’s War.  20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman recently gushed about the film during an interview with Steve and went a bit deeper into what we can expect plot-wise.

While the Twilight franchise may be winding down, fans still have one last feature film to look forward to later this year.  Director Bill Condon recently posted a brief letter to fans on Facebook in order to explain the reshoots that will take place in a couple of weeks.  Condon quickly assuaged any fears of a delay of the theatrical release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 by stressing the technical need for these reshoots; no new scenes or dialogue will be added.  Condon also hints that a new trailer will be released soon for fans to “decode,” and calls the first posters for the film “unlike any Twilight images you’ve seen before.”  The finale of the Twilight saga, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, opens November 16th.  Hit the jump to read Condon’s letter.

IMMORTALS Blu-ray Review

Tarsem Singh directed Immortals, which is readily apparent from the first few seconds. There are few directors working today with such a distinct visual style, and that can be commended – to some extent. What he doesn’t have is a good grasp on how to build a narrative, and so his films play better as an instillation pieces. His movies are filled with pretty images, but they don’t really build a greater narrative. With Immortals he’s got the story of the Greek gods, with humans Theseus (Henry Cavill) facing up against Hyperion (Mickey Rourke), while the gods (Luke Evans, Isabella Lucas, Kellan Lutz) watch and decide if they risk helping mortals. Our review of the Blu-ray of Immortals follows after the jump.

8 Clips from IMMORTALS Starring Henry Cavill and Mickey Rourke

We’ve been provided with eight clips from The Fall director Tarsem Singh’s new film Immortals. The pic centers on Theseus (Henry Cavill), a mortal, who teams up with the Greek gods in order to defeat the power-hungry King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke). Instead of depicting the gods as ginormous otherworldly creatures, Singh has taken a different route and instead the gods take the form of chiseled immortal beings that don’t look dissimilar from humans.

The film also stars Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Joseph Morgan, Kellan Lutz, and Stephen DorffImmortals opens in 3D on November 11th and we’ll have exclusive interviews with the cast the week of release.  Hit the jump to watch the clips.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 Jacob Trailer

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: October 27th, 2011 at 1:56 pm

A new trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 has been released. This trailer focuses on the character Jacob, so we can reasonably expect more character trailers to be released leading up to the film’s premiere. Taylor Lautner is all angsty and pouty in the trailer, pining for Kristen Stewart who’s now been ruined by Robert Pattinson’s seed. Also, Stewart’s sickly appearance is a PSA for anyone hoping to get impregnated by a vampire. If you missed the behind-the-scenes featurette we posted earlier today, you can check that out here.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Kellan LutzThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens November 18th.

7 New High Resolution Images from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1; Plus Runtime Revealed

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: October 18th, 2011 at 8:23 am

Yesterday, we posted some behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.  Today, Summit Entertainment has released seven new images from the film.  They look exactly as you’d expect a Twilight movie to look at this point.  I haven’t read the book, but in the image above it looks like Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) has spilled cranberry juice on his shirt.  It’s tragic because he loved that shirt like no one has loved a shirt in human history.

Hit the jump to check out the images (although one of them appears to be just a headshot of Taylor Lautner, but I would love it if that was an actual shot from the movie).  The film also stars Kristen Stewart, Kellan Lutz, and Ashley Greene.  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 opens November 18th.  According to the ArcLight Cinemas website, it will be 117 minutes long.

More Images and New Poster for IMMORTALS Starring Henry Cavill

Relativity has released more images from Tarsem Singh’s Immortals.  The movie centers on the mortal Theseus (Henry Cavill) joining forces with the Greek gods to defeat the power-hungry King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke).  As you’ll see from these set photos (or really almost anything released to promote this movie), the costumes are goofy beyond all reason.  It’s one thing to think outside the box on costuming, especially for the gods, but this looks painfully distracting.  At least the mortals look alright.  One of the images has Theseus casually holding a spear and probably thinking, “I’m pretty sure I can stab that guy in the face even though his helmet has a visor.”

Hit the jump to check out the images.  The film also stars Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Joseph Morgan, Kellan Lutz, and Stephen Dorff.  Immortals opens in 3D on November 11th.

3rd Trailer for Tarsem Singh’s IMMORTALS

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: August 16th, 2011 at 9:57 am

Relativity Media has released yet another trailer for Tarsem Singh’s Immortals and I’m starting to seriously doubt the film.  I liked what I saw when the teaser trailer debuted at WonderCon, but every trailer looks the same.  It’s the same footage again and again just in a different order.  Also, the plot is that King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) wants to bring down the gods so the gods hire Theseus (Henry Cavill) to stop him.  None of the trailers explain why the gods can’t do this themselves.  It’s kind of an obvious question and no amount of speed-ramping can answer it.

Hit the jump to check out the new trailer.  Immortals opens in 3D on November 11th.

Comic-Con 2011: Luke Evans and Kellan Lutz Talk IMMORTALS, THE HOBBIT, and TWILIGHT

by Christina Radish    Posted: July 24th, 2011 at 11:02 am

After the Hall H panel presentation at Comic-Con, the cast of Immortals did press roundtables to further discuss the unique film from visionary director Tarsem Singh. The story follows the brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke), who is looking to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. As village after village is obliterated, the Gods summon a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) to fight this power-mad menace and embrace his destiny in a battle for the future of humanity.

During the interview, actors Luke Evans (who plays Zeus) and Kellan Lutz (who plays Poseidon) talked about why they wanted to be a part of Tarsem’s vision, the training they had to go through for the film, finding the balance between playing Gods and making them relatable, what they think about 3D, and how the film far surpasses what they imagined it would look like. Evans also talked about heading out in a week to start work on The Hobbit for a year and how excited he is to be a part of cinematic history. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

Comic-Con 2011: IMMORTALS Panel Recap; Tarsem Talks 3D Visuals and Screens Fight Scene Footage

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: July 23rd, 2011 at 2:22 pm

Tarsem Singh’s Immortals had a presentation at WonderCon in April and you can check out my recap of that panel here.  For those who don’t know, the film has been compared to 300 due its highly-stylized re-telling of Greek myth (and yes, I know 300 was based on Greek history, not mythology).  The story centers on Theseus (Henry Cavill) who is called upon by the gods (Luke Evans as Zeus; Isabel Lucas as Athena) to fight the conquering menace of King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his bunny rabbit helmet of doom.   But Comic-Con’s Hall H is a much bigger stage, we’re closer to the release date (November 11th), and I was eager to see how much new stuff I was going to see.  I also wanted to see how many Man of Steel questions Cavill could duck.

New Trailer for IMMORTALS [Updated]

by Adam Chitwood    Posted: June 27th, 2011 at 8:06 am

immortals-henry-cavill-slice

A new trailer for director Tarsem Singh’s (The Fall) epic Immortals has been released. This one’s a bit more action-heavy than the first trailer that was released. The film looks decidedly 300-esque, but I’m hoping Singh brings something more to the table than slow motion fight scenes. He’s definitely proven his penchant for breathtaking visuals, and it’s a safe bet that Immortals will be no exception.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Immortals stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, John Hurt, and Mickey Rourke. [Update: We have updated the article with a higher-quality version of the trailer.]

8 New Character Posters for IMMORTALS

by Jason Barr    Posted: June 21st, 2011 at 3:48 pm

immortals-poster-slice

Relativity has released eight new character posters for director Tarsem Singh’s (The Cell) Immortals. Starring Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke, John Hurt, Stephen Dorff, and Freida Pinto, the film centers on a stonemason named Theseus (Cavill) as he attempts to keep the long lost Bow of Epirus out of the hands of the ruthless King Hyperion (Rourke). As for the sheets themselves, I think that character posters are a great way of introducing unknowing audiences to the individual personalities of characters they may not already be familiar with. As one of those unknowing audience members, I’m not sure I know more about the characters after seeing these promos.

Check the posters out for yourself after the jump. Immortals hits 3D theaters later this year on November 11th.
