With Rooney Mara (Youth in Revolt) set to star as rebellious hacker Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo next week, we thought we’d take a look back at past female badasses in cinematic history. Noomi Rapace nailed the role in the original Swedish version, so Mara will have a lot to live up to. Not only will she be compared to the performance of her predecessor, but also to the relatively few female heroines that came before her. Will Mara equal or surpass Rapace? Can she hang with the baddest ladies in movie history? Will she impress us enough to fight her way to the top? Hit the jump to check out our selection of the five most badass female leads of all time.

Tyler Stout has created an impressive poster and a variant design for Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. For those unfamiliar with the film, it’s a re-edited version of Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 that combines the two movies and makes some other changes like turning the fight at the House of Blue Leaves from black-and-white to color. The film is currently playing at the New Beverly and Mondo sold some of Stout’s posters at the flick’s premiere. But now for those who don’t live in L.A. or who attended but weren’t able to nab one, Mondo will be selling a limited number of the posters online tomorrow at a random time.
Hit the jump to check out the posters along with details like size, pricing, and edition. Be sure you’re following @MondoNews for the official announcement of when these bad boys go on sale.

Even if you don’t recognize the name, if you are a fan of kung fu films, you have probably seen a number of Yuen Woo-Ping’s influential fight choreography. His resume includes recent hits like The Matrix trilogy, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, both Kill Bill films, and a string of other praised martial arts films. Yuen has worked with nearly every major kung fu star, including Jet Li (Fearless and The Forbidden Kingdom), Jackie Chan (Drunken Master), Donnie Yen (Iron Monkey), and a number of others. When Fantastic Fest announced that Yuen would be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in addition to premiering Yuen’s upcoming True Legend (my review here), I jumped at the opportunity to interview the legend. Hit the jump to see my chat with Yuen as we discuss who he wants to work with in the future, his influences in directing, how he creates the fight choreography, and why the Drunken Fist fighting style keeps coming back.
Speaking with MTV, Quentin Tarantino says that his next project isn’t Kill Bill Vol. 3 and that “Kill Bill Vol. 3″ wouldn’t even be the title. This makes a lot of sense if you know how volume two ends (spoiler alert: Bill gets killed). Tarantino says that another film in the franchise would be “Volume 3 of the story of the Bride” and since that isn’t very catchy, don’t expect that to be the title either.
Whatever the title may be, don’t expect to be seeing it on a marquee anytime soon. Says Tarantino, “There’s no script; there are just ideas and notes. I won’t do that next, but it could very well be the thing I do after next.” While I sure do love speculating about a film that still doesn’t have a title or a script but brings back a popular character, at what point does anyone ask Quentin Tarantino, “So what is you next movie?”

As you may recall, back in 2003-2004 when Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” saga was hitting theaters, the director presented his idea to do a third “Kill Bill” movie centered around Nikki, the daughter of Vivica A. Fox’s character Vernita Green, seeking revenge against The Bride (Uma Thurman). Today we have the news that not only Tarantino held on to his desire to make a third volume (although whether it would still be that premise is unknown), but he intends to make “Kill Bill: Volume 3″ within the next two years. Considering that the box office success of “Inglourious Basterds” gives Tarantino more latitude in choosing his next project now since he’s now proved he can make a financially viable flick, it will be interesting to see which direction he’ll take his career, or at least in making his next movie. I’ll be excited for anything Tarantino does I’d prefer to see him make a new movie and wait a little longer to have The Bride pick up her Hanzo steel again.
Check out the video after the jump and starting at around 5:55 you’ll hear Tarantino announce his plans to have The Bride re-unleash her fury.
