Scream 4 has just killed off a major player. Zap2It reports that “significant script changes have created some tension on the set” and that screenwriter/series co-creator Kevin Williamson has left the project. This follows the news that Lauren Graham dropped out after her role was reduced to almost nothing and Hayden Panettiere’s is “beyond frustrated” that her part was “dumbed down significantly.” In an attempt to stop the bleeding, screenwriter Ehren Kruger has come on board to handle the script. Kruger penned the screenplay for Scream 3 and most recently wrote the script for Transformers 3 (he was also a co-writer on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen).
Williamson is reportedly out of the project entirely so I wouldn’t count on his continued participation for Scream 5 and Scream 6, which he was working on according to Wes Craven. Hit the jump for a list of people still involved with Scream 4, which hits theaters on April 15, 2011. [UPDATE - New details on the current situation after the jump.]

As a remake of the 1989 Ron Howard film of the same name, NBC’s new family dramedy Parenthood will live or die by its cast. But with a playbill this long and fraught with familiar faces-including Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Dax Shepard, Craig T. Nelson, Erika Christensen, Monica Potter, and Mae Whitman among others-you’re bound to find a reason to check it out. The talent behind the camera is perhaps even more encouraging, as creator Jason Katims also serves as the guiding force behind one of the best dramas of the last five years, Friday Night Lights.
Find out whether Parenthood lives up to its immense potential after the break.

Parenthood started out as a successful film from Academy Award-winners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer in 1989, went on to be a sitcom featuring Leonardo DiCaprio in 1990 and is now returning as a one-hour drama, premiering on NBC on March 2nd.
From Friday Night Lights executive producer Jason Katims, this new series re-imagines and updates the production to introduce audiences to the very large, very colorful and imperfect Braverman family, played by Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Monica Potter, Dax Shepard and Erika Christensen, among others.
While at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour to promote the series, executive producer Ron Howard explained that he was initially hesitant about revisiting a project that he truly cherishes, but that he realized it’s ultimately about parenting and being part of a family, which is universal to everyone. He also updated the status of the Arrested Development film, which he plans to narrate, as well as the development of the Dan Brown film The Lost Symbol and Cowboys and Aliens.
Check out what he had to say after the jump:
We’re going to keep coming back to “The Squid and the Whale” and wondering whether or not Jeff Daniels can ever top his performance in that film. Looking at the trailer for “The Answer Man”, it probably won’t be this time. Daniels plays Arlen Faber, a man who wrote a best-selling self-help book and then went recluse for five years only to be pulled out of his apartment by a bad back and fall in love with his chiropractor (Lauren Graham). It looks like a wholly inoffensive romance flick and perhaps that’s my biggest problem with it: you have talented performers like Daniels, Graham and supporting roles from Lou Taylor Pucci and Olivia Thirlby and I want more challenging material for them.
Check out the trailer after the jump. “The Answer Man” hits theatres on July 24th.
