The first trailer for Battle of the Year, aka “That Movie Where Sawyer Coaches a Breakdancing Team,” has been released. The film is based on the documentary of the same name that focused on the 2005 Battle of the Year and the B-boy (breakdancing) crews (teams) that took part in the competition. Lost’s Josh Holloway stars as a basketball coach who reluctantly agrees to lead the team, which includes Josh Peck (The Wackness) and lady-beater Chris Brown. The trailer plays out exactly as you’d expect, so if B-boy competitions are your thing I assume you’ll have some interest in Battle of the Year. If not, the only highlight is in this trailer is seeing Chris Brown get punched in the face.

Remaking a well-known film can leave you with many problems. If you stick too closely to the original, the audience will call you on it and more than anything, the film’s twists and turns can become predictable bores. Luckily for director Rod Lurie, he chose to remake a film that has a strong cinemaphile profile but never caught on with the mainstream crowd back in 1971: Straw Dogs. Sam Peckinpah’s controversial little film on violence and the nature of man starred Dustin Hoffman, yet never caught on, only raking in $11 million worldwide. What this means is that despite only changing the setting from England to the redneck South of the United States, Lurie’s tale can exist as a wholly new experience for the average filmgoer. However, your appreciation for that may be tempered by the controversial parts largely being in tact. Hit the jump for my full review.

The trailer for Rod Lurie’s remake of Sam Peckinpah’s Straw Dogs has gone online. The remake transplants the story from rural England to the deep South where a screenwriter (James Marsden) and his wife (Kate Bosworth) relocate to her hometown. Like in the original, they encounter hostility from the locals and matters get increasingly worse for the couple from there. I’m not familiar with Lurie’s original but I’m liking the Southern setting in the trailer, and Skarsgård is positively creepy as the antagonist.

The new A&E drama Breakout Kings, from the writers/producers of Prison Break, is an action-packed ensemble series that follows the unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals office and a group of convicts as they work together to catch fugitives that are on the run. Veteran U.S. Marshals Charlie DuChamp (Laz Alonso) and Ray Zancanelli (Domenick Lombardozzi) decide to take an unorthodox approach to their work by using former fugitives to catch current ones, in exchange for time off of their sentence, as long as they follow rules and don’t try to escape. This special task force is comprised of former child prodigy and psychiatric expert Lloyd Lowery (Jimmi Simpson), ex-gangbanger Shea Daniels (Malcolm Goodwin), and expert tracker Eric Reed (Serinda Swan).
During a recent exclusive interview with Collider, co-stars Laz Alonso and Domenick Lombardozzi talked about how they came to be a part of this new television series, what they enjoy about making it, why they think their characters respect each other, and how confident they are in the quality of the work that they’re doing. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

A few new high quality images from James Cameron’s “Avatar” have hit the net and I have to say…they look great. While I was one of the people less than impressed with the 2D trailer, every single person I have spoken with who has seen the 3D footage tells me it’s amazing and I should only see it in that format. And believe me…I will. After all, James Cameron spent years perfecting the technology to make “Avatar”, and I only want to see the film in a theater that can display his vision properly. Anyway, check out these images. They’re really great.
