We’ve got a couple more casting stories to share. First up, Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Chloe Sevigny have been set to topline the “sexually-charged” pic Panarea. The film follows a young married couple with intimacy issues who find themselves vacationing on an exotic Italian island where their commitment will be tested and reaffirmed. The script was written by Adam Mansbach, who is the author of the hilariously wrong bestseller Go the Fuck to Sleep.
Adam Bhala Lough (Weapons) will direct the pic, and Jim Jarmusch is onboard as a producer. I’m a fan of Webber, and Mansbach’s involvement piques my interest, so it should be fun to see how this project turns out. Hit the jump for news concerning the sci-fi thriller Vigilandia.

In a rare interview with Judge Dredd comics creator, John Wagner, the writer reflected on the history of his creation and revealed just how excited he is for the new film, Dredd, starring Karl Urban (Star Trek). A British comic strip created by Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra for the sci-fi anthology “2000 AD,” Dredd was originally, according to Wagner:
“a very two-dimensional character, a vehicle for extreme behavior in an extreme society, more of a robot than a man. Today he’s more rounded, more human, a man capable of introspection, of questioning his own beliefs.”
“Two-dimensional” would be a kind description for the previous feature: the 1995 Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone. Wagner gave his thoughts on that performance, as well as why he’s looking forward to the new version. Hit the jump for much more.

It would have been nice to see Dredd make a showing at this year’s Comic-Con, but we’re still getting a look at the new adaptation of the 2000 A.D. comic Judge Dredd. We recently got the first image of Karl Urban as the title character and now Empire Magazine has three more stills from the flick. One of the shots is the first look at Olivia Thirlby (Juno) as rookie Judge Cassandra Anderson. Not much is known about the plot other than it will be more faithful to the comic than the 1995 Sylvester Stallone film, and that Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) is playing the villain. [Update: We've now added the Empire cover which shows Karl Urban frowning like there's no tomorrow.] [Update 2: We've added six more images including one of Headey as the villainous clan leader Ma-Ma]
Hit the jump to check out the images. Dredd opens in 3D on September 21, 2012.

At the Game of Thrones panel at Comic-Con, author George R. R. Martin moderated select cast and crew (Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Jason Momoa, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and creators David Benioff & D.B Weiss) as they discussed the forthcoming second season and beyond, special features on the first season’s bluray/dvd, what initially hooked them to the show and how they would end the book series – if they were Martin. For highlights from the panel, read beyond.

Take the feuding families and crime organizations of dramas like The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire and toss them into the fantastical world of Lord of the Rings with a lot more grit and darkness and you’ll have the stellar new series that his Game of Thrones. It will be hard to miss the new fantasy series since the cable network will be running the premiere across HBO, HBO2, HBO Signature, HBO Comedy, HBO Zone and HBO Latino simultaneously. We’re just two weeks away from the premiere of the new HBO series Game of Thrones, and while we’ve seen several different trailers for the fantasy drama, the cable network has decided a more lengthy preview is in order. Last night HBO premiered the first 14 minutes from the first episode in the series, and damn does it look exquisite. Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire the sprawling tale set in the mythical land of Westeros tells the story of the noble Stark family who become caught up in high court intrigue when patriarch Eddard (played by Sean Bean) becomes the king’s new right-hand man. The cast also includes Mark Addy, Lena Headey, Harry Lloyd, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jennifer Ehle and Peter Dinklage. Check out the extended preview below and stay tuned for our advanced review of the first few episodes sometime soon.

We’ve already seen a few different trailers for HBO’s epic new fantasy series Game of Thrones, but the cable network has released yet another one. This one is much more like a movie trailer than the previous trailers and it continues to get my excited to check out this series when it finally hits the network on April 17th.

We’ve already seen a pretty spectacular trailer for the anticipated HBO series Game of Thrones, the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. Now that we finally know the series will premiere on April 17th, the spring can’t get here soon enough. Well over the weekend HBO released a new trailer for their epic drama, and while it doesn’t showcase any footage from the series, this stylized promo highlights each of the main characters with some ominous voiceover. The last whisper before the title reveal is especially powerful. Don’t forget to check out our recent interview with series star Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings) and see the new trailer for yourself after the jump. Actress Lena Headey (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) may have landed the role of the main villain in Dredd. Judge Dredd Movie News [via Bleeding Cool] reports that Headey has been cast as gang-leader, Madeline Madrigal aka Ma-Ma. Although the script describes the character as “in her late fifties or early sixties with a big scar through her cheek and lip,” I imagine they’ll just keep the scar and reduce the character’s age. Bleeding Cool reports that Ma-Ma and her gang have taken over the Peach Tree City Block and that most of the film takes place in this location.
Based on the 2000AD comic Judge Dredd, the new film promises to be more faithful to the source material than the dreadful Sylvester Stallone flick. Pete Travis (Vantage Point) will direct from a script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later). Karl Urban stars as Dredd and Olivia Thirlby (Juno) costars as psychic rookie Judge Cassandra Alexander. Filming on the 3D flick is currently underway Johannesburg. [Update: The Playlist confirms that Headey has been cast as the film's villain.]

With the TCA’s (Television Critics Association) in full swing this week, all the networks and cable channels are talking about what’s coming later this year. Along with tons of announcements, many of the networks are releasing new images. Thankfully, HBO is one of them. So if you’ve been looking forward to HBO’s adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series Game of Thrones, hit the jump, as we’ve been given 28 images and most of them are new.

We’ve already seen a short trailer for the forthcoming epic series Game of Thrones on HBO, but it was little more than a tease. A couple other trailers have since surfaced on HBO, but with roughly the same amount of footage and little-to-no-dialogue. Now HBO has released an all-new trailer which finally gives us a better idea of the story and style behind the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Fire and Ice. The trailer brings epic action, medieval drama and even some sexuality, a staple of any HBO series. You can check out the trailer after the jump and look forward to the series which will begin airing sometime in early 2011.

World War II has given us a lot of interesting films over the years, from Tora! Tora! Tora! to Saving Private Ryan to Letters from Iwo Jima, the war has proved a very interesting topic for Hollywood. There have been some great films about Vietnam as well; Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket come to mind. But what about World War I? World War I has given us the 1927 film Wings (the first Academy Award winner of Best Picture) and 2006 movie Flyboys.
Well it’s pretty apparent why World War I movies have never lead war films genre, simply put they’re boring. Just like Wings and Flyboys, Nikolai Müllerschön’s The Red Baron can now join the list of overly boring and drawn out World War I films about fighter pilots. Hit the jump for my review.

HBO has picked up Game of Thrones for a full season and ordered 9 additional episodes on top of the already shot pilot. Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, the plan is for each season to cover one book in the series. There are currently four books with more on the way. Game of Thrones will start shooting this June in Belfast and the season will air in spring 2011. The cast includes Mark Addy, Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Harry Lloyd, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jennifer Ehle and Peter Dinklage. Here’s how THR describes the series:
The sprawling tale set in the mythical land of Westeros tells the story of the noble Stark family who become caught up in high court intrigue when patriarch Eddard (played by Sean Bean) becomes the king’s new right-hand man.

As a science fiction nerd, I was onboard Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at the word “Terminator”. The show focuses on the bond between Sarah and her son John as they work together with the first cute Terminator, Cameron, to stave off Armageddon. Were they successful? Was it entertaining?
