New Posters for LOCKOUT, MIRROR MIRROR, and Kevin Macdonald’s Documentary MARLEY

We’ve got a few new posters to share with you today. First up is the debut one-sheet for the sci-fi action pic Lockout. The first couple of international trailers for this film had me surprisingly excited, as they showcased a wise-cracking Guy Pearce and a strangely goofy execution. Then the domestic marketing kicked in. This poster echoes the US trailers that scream “This is a big action movie with explosions that’s like Taken but not!” I’m still hoping that the actual tone skews more on the strange side, and the US marketing materials are simply the studio trying to sell the movie to teenage boys eager for more eye violations courtesy of Michael Bay.

Additionally, we’ve got a new international poster for the very light and fluffy Snow White pic Mirror Mirror, as well as a first poster for Kevin Macdonald’s (The Last King of Scotland) documentary Marley. Mirror Mirror continues to look like a farce, and this poster plays up the cutesy aspect of the pic, but Macdonald’s Marley poster is spot on. Hit the jump to check out the posters. New Trailer for Sci-Fi Thriller LOCKOUT Starring Guy Pearce

The domestic trailer has debuted for the sci-fi prison break film Lockout. The first half of the trailer is pretty rote, with lines like “He’s the best there is, but he’s a loose cannon.” It picks up when Guy Pearce appears, but altogether the tone here is wildly different from the international trailers we’ve seen previously. The action looks great, but Pearce’s charisma is almost entirely absent here. It’s a shame, because the movie actually looks really, really good in the other trailers. It’s cool and strange, and Pearce is hilarious as a wisecracking badass. Hopefully we’ll get a differently cut trailer soon, but for now US audiences will have to settle for this generic actioner.

New Featurette for LOCK-OUT Starring Guy Pearce

A new featurette for the sci-fi action flick Lock-Out (aka MS One) starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace.  The film centers on a wrongly-accused spy (Pearce) who must rescue the President’s daughter (Grace) from an orbiting prison.  We’ve already seen from the trailers that Pearce is going to play a wise-cracking badass and this new featurette is basically centered on that character.  I’m not sure how the rest of the movie will be, but if it works, Pearce is going to be a large reason why.

New Trailer for Sci-Fi Thriller LOCK-OUT Starring Guy Pearce

We recently got a look at the first trailer for the sci-fi action thriller Lock-Out by way of an international teaser. It revealed very little in the way of plot, but Guy Pearce looked promising in the starring role. Now a new trailer has popped up, and it’s gets fairly deep into the story of the flick. Pearce plays a man who is tasked with going into a maximum security prison in space in order to rescue the US President’s daughter. Why does she need rescuing? Well it seems the space prison is in the midst of a little space prison break by the space prisoners. The visuals look really cool, and I’m really liking Pearce’s smart-ass character. The tag of the trailer refers to the film as MS One: Maximum Security so either that’s the international title, or the new overall title (I’m hoping it’s the former).

Guy Pearce Has a Very Special Set of Outer Space Skills in International Trailer for LOCK-OUT

An international trailer for James Mather and Stephen St. Leger‘s sci-fi action thriller Lock-Out has gone online and despite the outer-space setting, the movie looks like a solid little thriller.  Guy Pearce stars as wrongly-accused spy who must rescue the President’s daughter (Maggie Grace) from an orbiting prison.  The Taken comparisons since both films were produced by Luc Besson, and once again Grace must be rescued by a guy with the special training to get the job done.  The good news is that Pearce does a great job of selling the tough guy routine, and the action looks fun even though the cinematographer may have gone to the J.J. Abrams’ School of Needs More Lens Flares.

New Images from DRIVE and LOCK-OUT

Steve is currently wandering around CinemaCon and in addition to snapping photos of promo posters, he also picked up some images from the upcoming films Drive and Lock-Out.  For those unfamiliar with the flicks, Drive is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) and centers on a stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who moonlights as a wheelman for mobsters.  When he agrees to help the husband of his beautiful neighbor (Carey Mulligan), matters go awry and he must protect the neighbor and her son. The film has an incredible cast that also includes Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks.

As for Lock-Out, Guy Pearce talked to Steve about the film and said that the sci-fi action-adventure is “a rescue story, it’s set slightly in the future,” and his character must go on a mission to save the President’s daughter from an orbiting prison.  The film is produced by Luc Besson and also stars Maggie Grace and Peter Stormare.
