Warner Bros. loves their character posters, and it was only a matter of time before they started rolling them out for Man of Steel. They’ve kicked them off with Superman’s daddy, Jor-El (Russell Crowe). It’s a forceful poster (I’m not sure why a scientist like Jor-El needs a giant gun), and I’m wondering how it will compare to a poster for Lois Lane (Amy Adams) or Ma and Pa Kent (Diane Lane and Kevin Costner) assuming they get ones. Meanwhile, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Warner Bros. going overboard and making character posters for Richard Schiff and Christopher Meloni.

Warner Bros. has unveiled three brand new behind-the-scenes featurettes and a new TV spot for director Zack Snyder’s Superman film Man of Steel, highlighting some great new footage alongside interviews with members of the cast and crew. Each of the three featurettes focuses on one of the film’s themes, so we’ve got Speed focusing on Superman’s intensely quick movements, Strength focusing on the two different approaches to Supes’ abilities from his two fathers (Russell Crowe’s Jor-El and Kevin Costner’s Pa Kent), and finally the self-explanatory Flight. Along with new footage, we see Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Crowe, Snyder, and producers Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven talking about the film.

Last week, we got a full track from Hans Zimmer‘s score for Man of Steel. The song, “An Ideal Hope” was a rousing piece, and an encouraging indication of the film’s music. Today, a second track, “DNA” has been released. Zimmer tells Rolling Stone, ” “My inspiration for the music came from trying to celebrate all that is good and kind in the people of America’s heartland, without cleverness or cynicism. Just from the heart.” Zimmer also says that “The music is less about the icon that Superman is, and more about the outsider with extraordinary powers and his struggle to become a part of humanity.” This estrangement seems to be the over-arching theme of the picture, and it looks like it’s coming together in an exciting fashion. “DNA” is a thrilling track that should play even better when paired with the action on the screen. “Can you imagine how people on this planet would react if they knew there was someone like this out there?”
After watching the latest Man of Steel TV spot, all I can do is agree with one of the comments posted on the official Facebook page where they said, “shut up and take my money.” While Warner Bros. has spent a substantial amount of money making Zack Snyder‘s Superman and they need to sell it to casual moviegoers, I’m at the point where I wish I could avoid the rest of their marketing plan and just see the finished product. However, I understand why we’re about to get slammed with new images, posters, clips and TV spots. The studio has to open this film and the only way to sell it is to show off the goods. And this new TV spot does just that. Watch it after the jump.
Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Russell Crowe. Man of Steel opens in 3D on June 14th.

June 14th, 2013. That date has been circled on my calendar for a long time. As I’ve said repeatedly, Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel is easily my most anticipated film of the year and every new TV spot and trailer has left me even more amped to see the film. With the release date fast approaching, Warner Bros. has released two new posters. One of them features Henry Cavill as Superman flying in front of a large S, and the other has him flying towards the sky. Both are very well done. Hit the jump to check them out.
Man of Steel also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fisburne, Antje Traue, and Russell Crowe.

Interest is running high for Warner Bros.’ upcoming Superman film Man of Steel, and understandably so. The most recent trailer turned even the most hardened cynics (mostly with regards to director Zack Snyder) into cautious optimists, and early buzz on the film is incredibly positive. Producer Christopher Nolan’s influence is clearly felt within the pic’s more grounded and serious take on the character, and even though Snyder is the film’s director, many have posited that Nolan had a heavy hand in making the pic. Nolan himself has previously stated that he was responsible for shepherding the film through development but took a more hands-off approach once actual filming began, and now star Henry Cavill has spoken up to note that Man of Steel is very much Zack Snyder’s film.

Warner Bros. has released a second banner for Man of Steel, and it’s their best piece of artwork for the film yet. It’s clean and simple but also energetic in creating the blurring effect to emphasize Superman’s flight (as opposed to the pointless blurring in some of the Star Trek Into Darkness posters). Because it’s from Warner Bros., I’m sure we can expect many more posters, and this is the one to beat.

While the most recent theatrical trailer for director Zack Snyder’s Superman film Man of Steel delivered the goods visually, it also gave us our first preview of composer Hans Zimmer’s score for the film. Crafting a new Superman theme was no small task as John Williams’ iconic theme will likely always be synonymous with the hero, but it was important for Zimmer to come up with something that solidified Man of Steel as a wholly new take on the character. The result, as evidenced in the trailer and in this recently released full track (titled “An Ideal Hope”), is a magnificently pulsing theme that builds to a fantastic crescendo while bringing to mind the ascent of a hero like Superman from confused boy to Protector of Earth.
Hit the jump to listen to a full track from Hans Zimmer’s score, which is essentially an extended version of what we heard in the trailer, and click here to read the full details regarding the soundtrack release. Man of Steel opens in 3D on June 14th, and Zimmer’s score will be released on June 11th.

Warner Bros. has released a new TV spot and banner poster for director Zack Snyder’s Superman film Man of Steel. The 30-second spot does a nice job of teasing the grounded, character-centric nature of the pic while also highlighting the epic action that awaits audiences. All of the footage is backed by Hans Zimmer’s pulsing new Superman theme, and we also get to see some sort of massive-looking ship making ground on Earth. While the initial trailers were fairly small in scale, the most recent spots are doing a great job of teasing the grand set pieces that we’ll hopefully be seeing throughout the film.

Warner Bros. has released the third poster for director Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel, and this time Supes takes to the skies. The first Comic-Con poster teased the new costume, the second poster showed Henry Cavill’s Superman in cuffs, and now this third one-sheet teases the superhero’s power of flight. It’s a neat concept, but there’s a tad too much photoshop on Cavill’s face for my taste. Snyder previously said he wanted the flying scenes to be a “violent experience,” and the blurriness of the skyline in the distance on this poster definitely promises some very quick speeds.

A new TV spot has been released a new TV spot for Man of Steel. It has all the pomp and circumstance we’ve come to expect from the film’s marketing campaign, and when it comes to Superman, such presentation is required. It’s Superman, after all. The TV spot also shows off some of the action we previously saw in the excellent trailer, but the real takeaway is Superman screaming. What causes this scream? Does Pa Kent die (I don’t know if Pa Kent dies in the movie, but his death is a touchstone in the character’s biography)? Does Supes step on a kryptonite nail? Is he forced to watch Superman IV: The Quest for Peace?
