Another day, another collection of new photos from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. One of the photos is from director Marc Webb‘s Twitter feed, and shows a futuristic room the director has labeled as “the future”. In the future, people just leave their clothes and gun strewn about. At least there’s the digital lock by the door, and hopefully the security has been upgraded from the first film where anyone was welcome as long as they could solve a puzzle (a.k.a. “Bridge Troll Security”).
There’s also some leaked photos from the set, and as you’ll see Spider-Man has a very important call to take. If this is his cell phone, your guess is as good as mine as to where he keeps it on his skin-tight costume. Hit the jump to check out the images. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Marc Webb is a talented director, but his true talent may lie in tweeting. Webb has tweeted a number of great behind-the-scenes photos from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The latest Webb tweets give us a much clearer introduction to Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich (aka the Rhino) after a grainy set photo previewed the makeup.
Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field also star. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens May 2, 2014. See the full image after the jump.

With production currently underway in New York on director Marc Webb’s sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, we’ve seen our fair share of grainy set photos. We hadn’t really gotten a look at anything super revealing, but then last week images surfaced of a very different looking Jamie Foxx as the pic’s villain Electro. The actor was covered head to toe in blue body paint and was sporting some luminous markings on his skin, making for a rather unique take on the comics character. Now that those images are out there, Webb has decided to share some official images of the actor in character as well as our first look at Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn.
Hit the jump for more, including the images. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Some new behind-the-scenes images from two highly anticipated summer movies (one in 2013 and one in 2014) have made their way online. First up, director James Mangold has shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes look at his sequel The Wolverine. The images give us a look at the big-budget production, specifically unveiling a peek at how Mangold crafted that nifty-looking bullet train action sequence and a couple other interesting scenes.
Additionally, director Marc Webb has shared a rather tantalizing image from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is currently in production in New York City. Webb prefaced the photo by noting that it’s a look at some destruction from Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and it appears that the villain will be very skilled at causing fires. Hit the jump to take a look at the images. The Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014.

During the development process, director Marc Webb made the decision to shoot the entirety of his sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York. While Webb and company will certainly be using the city to their advantage, there’s one place that they can’t exactly close down in order to film for a few weeks: Times Square. As a result, a giant Times Square set has been constructed for what we can only assume is one of the film’s action set-pieces, and now some photos have surfaced online that give us a peek into the location.
Hit the jump to take a look at the set images.

Filming is currently underway in New York City on director Marc Webb’s sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Webb has been keeping fans up to date on the production with regular photo teases on his Twitter account. Though most of them are either of crew members or innocuous pieces of the set, today he shared a picture from Oscorp that reveals that The Office star BJ Novak has a role in the follow-up. Novak has a knack for popping up in unexpected features as he previously nabbed a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of character he plays in the Spider-Man follow-up.
Hit the jump to take a look at the image of Novak in character. The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

We’ve been getting flooded with set photos from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the latest one is from the director himself, Marc Webb. Webb has been taking to Twitter to provide snapshots from the production, and today he sent out a photo of the directory for the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane (i.e. Marvel’s version of Arkham Asylum). This image is a treasure trove of information. First off, “Weapon Pickup” and the interrogation room are right next door to each other, so that’s just convenient for everybody. Secondly, the “Voltage Cells” and the “Medical Inspection Lock-Up” are in the same room? Is this a vital plot point? Does Electro (Jamie Foxx) have a close tie to Medical Inspection? Probably not, but it’s more than likely that Webb knows fans will spot “Voltage Cells” and immediately think of the film’s villain.
Hit the jump to check out the image along with a couple photos of Oscorp, home of leaving doomsday devices out in the open with almost no security whatsoever. The film also stars Emma Stone, Sally Field, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper and Martin Sheen. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 open in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Though production is already underway in New York City, a last-minute casting addition is being made to director Marc Webb’s upcoming sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Word comes that Chris Cooper has signed on to join the impressive ensemble cast for the pic, and he’s set to play the shady Norman Osborn. The character was famously inhabited by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi’s Spidey trilogy, and in comics lore he becomes the villain Green Goblin. Will Cooper be tackling the villain role as well? Director Marc Webb is currently filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and is teasing the hell out of fans by releasing scraps of information over social media. The above image of a part of Spidey’s mask was hidden within a video tweeted by Webb earlier today. (Webb previously talked to Steve about fan interest and the revised Spider-Man suit in this interview.) While it’s great that the director is attempting to keep contact with fans, we have a long way to go until the sequel’s May 2, 2014 release date. Maybe by then we’ll have the whole costume cobbled together from images embedded in random videos (fingers crossed for the codpiece shot next!).
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jaime Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Sally Field, Martin Sheen and Paul Giamatti. Hit the jump to see the full image, a link to Webb’s video and more on the social media of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Spidey has returned to web-slinging. Director Marc Webb has tweeted that production has begun on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Details on the film are still scarce, and likely will be for some time. We only know the villains, but we don’t know how they’ll factor in. There’s also a host of new characters, and we have to wait to see if this is when Gwen Stacy will have her famous fall. Webb also tweeted that movie is anamorphic, it’s being shot on film, and included a set photo of “Phil the Camera Operator.”
Hit the jump for a brief recap of what we know so far. Jamie Foxx tackles some incredibly tough material in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming spaghetti western/slavery drama Django Unchained, but he recently lined up something a bit lighter for his next project. Foxx has been tapped to play the villain Electro in director Marc Webb’s sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, and with production set to begin early next year, Foxx has begun preparing for his comic book turn.
Though superhero productions are normally incredibly tight when it comes to story details, Foxx was surprisingly forthcoming in a recent interview when he was asked about this new iteration of Electro. He talked about changes to the costume, how the character goes from good guy to bad guy, his relationship to Spider-Man, and more. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Director Marc Webb has found his Harry Osborn. We learned back in October that Webb and producers were working to cast the integral role of Peter Parker’s best friend, Harry Osborn, in the Amazing Spider-Man sequel, and a couple of casting shortlists followed shortly thereafter. It was first reported that Dane DeHaan, Alden Ehrenreich, and Brady Corbet were in the running for the role, then a subsequent report claimed that producers had a change of heart and were looking to cast a more athletic-looking actor in the role. Whether that second report was hogwash or not, Webb announced today on Twitter that none other than Dane DeHaan has come away with the role. Hit the jump for more.

Casting is currently underway on Sony’s fast-moving sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it appears that producers are changing course in filling the integral role of Harry Osborn. Marc Webb is returning to direct with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone back as the film’s leads, but the follow-up is poised to include a tantalizing group of newcomers that should ring familiar to fans of the comics. Shailene Woodley is set to play eventual love interest Mary Jane in what may amount to a larger role in the third film, and negotiations are underway to nail down Jamie Foxx as the film’s villain Electro.
We recently heard that Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) and Brady Corbet (Melancholia) were under consideration for the role of Harry Obsorn, but now it appears that Sony is looking for a different type of actor to take on the part. Hit the jump for more.

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into the home entertainment market on Blu-ray/DVD today. At the behind-the- scenes press day, director Marc Webb, Sr. Visual Effects Supervisor Jerome Chen, Additional Animation Supervisor Dave Schaub, and 3D Visual FX Supervisor Rob Engle talked about the challenges of taking what 3D audiences enjoyed in theaters and putting that into an entertaining 3D Blu-ray. They discussed how their creative team worked together to create the amazing visual effects; why it’s important to know your script really well, commit to sequences and decisions early on, and look at everything in stereo as early as possible to avoid surprises later on; how using Real stereo cameras contributed to the sense of realism; who their favorite characters were; and why it’s important to think about how shots will play in depth and feel in 3D in order to strike a balance between creating an experience and telling a very human story.
Webb also revealed the three V’s of 3D – vertigo, volume and velocity — which made the experience more immersive, how the IMAX environment presented unique creative opportunities, how Jamie Foxx may play Electro in the next Spider-Man, and why his favorite bonus feature is the iPad Second Screen app which he thinks is really cool.
