Judging from the amount of money J.J. AbramsStar Trek Into Darkness earned this weekend, it seems fair to say that audiences everywhere are still very much onboard with the director’s lens-flare-tastic interpretation of Gene Rodenberry’s iconic sci-fi series.  But y’know who’s really onboard with Star Trek right now?  Mark Englert fans.  Turned out that Paramount hired the increasingly-popular artist to create a Trek-themed poster to celebrate the film’s release, and then they handed ‘em out—free of charge– during last Wednesday’s first round of IMAX screenings.

Awesome for those in attendance, sure, but what about those that missed out?  Well, Limited Paper comes bearing good news:  Paramount and Englert have another surprise for you.  Set phasers to “Info Dump” and meet me after the jump, where I’ll tell you what that surprise is, where and when it’s going to drop, what it looks like, and what you’re gonna have to do to get your hands on one.

Limited Paper Exclusive: Bottleneck Gallery Celebrates THE OFFICE’s Series Finale With New Mark Englert Poster

Tomorrow marks the end of an era:  NBC’s The Office is coming to a close after nearly a decade on the air. While the show’s definitely had its highs and lows over the years (particularly since original “World’s Best Boss” Steve Carell left at the end of season seven), anyone who’s stuck with the series for this long is surely hoping to see things wrap up in a satisfying way.  The big question is, what will leave most fans satisfied?

For many, only the return of Carell’s Michael Scott–along with love interest Holly, played by Amy Ryan—will suffice.  NBC’s still playing coy as to whether or not they’ll appear… but thanks to Mark Englert and the folks at Bottleneck Gallery, fans will have a chance to glimpse Michael and Holly one last time tomorrow even if NBC totally screws the pooch on their cameo.  Meet me after the jump for the details, folks.

Mark-Englert-Aliens-Slice

For some time now, rumors have been circulating about an extremely rare Aliens-themed poster being worked on by Mark Englert.  These rumors were ignited when the artist posted some process shots of the piece to his personal blog a few months ago, at which time he also revealed that Close Your Eyes, Baby was…a commission piece.  In other words, Mark Englert’s latest wouldn’t be finding its way to a wide release.  Fans were bummed…but rumors persisted that there might be some hope yet.

As it turns out, there is a bit of hope if you’re interested in obtaining one of Englert’s Aliens-themed prints…but you’ll have to act quick if you’re interested in picking one up.  Read all about it after the jump, folks.

Limited Paper Exclusive: Mark Englert Holds Onto The (Glow-in-The-Dark) Throne With a Stunning New GAME OF THRONES Poster

On April 12th, NYC’s Bottleneck Gallery will open When The Lights Go Out, a sprawling showcase featuring nothing but GID (Glow-in-The-Dark)-enhanced artwork.  It’s a great concept for a show (just imagine an entire gallery’s worth of new posters lit solely with blacklights), and from the beginning we knew that Bottleneck Gallery would amass a giant roster of talented artists to pull it off…but for our money, the whole thing wouldn’t have felt complete without the involvement of Mark Englert.

And—well, whatta ya know—it turns out that Mark Englert’s contribution to When The Lights Go Out is even more impressive in its use of GID than we expected it to be.  It may, in fact, be his best GID piece to date.  See it for yourselves after the jump, folks.

Limited Paper Exclusive: Mark Englert’s NEVERENDING STORY Print “The Ancient One” Goes on Sale Tomorrow

by     Posted: March 5th, 2013 at 11:00 am

If you’ve been following the happenings in Mark Englert’s neck of the woods over the past week or two, you know that the artist behind 2012’s best Walking Dead and Gallery 1988’s Django Unchained poster has been a busy dude lately:  for one thing, he’s wrapping up work on that yet-to-be-revealed Aliens commission;  he just finished a timed release built around his Jurassic Park-themed It’s a Dinosaur poster; and he’s been doing whatever he can to rebuild a home that was destroyed by flood waters over the holidays.  That’s a full dance card, and it would come as no surprise if Englert announced that he’d be busy fulfilling these obligations over the next few months rather than releasing anything new.

What would be a surprise, however:  a brand-new release that’s going on sale tomorrow morning.  One based on, say, the 80’s fantasy/classic The Neverending Story.  Why, that’d be preposterous.  Read more about it after the jump, folks.

From time to time, the Poster Gods will look fondly upon the dirty unwashed masses.  “We should do something nice for these hopelessly addicted fools”, the Gods say, and after much brainstorming about what that nice thing should be, they will just shrug their shoulders and say, “Eh, just let everyone get a poster this time”.  This is what’s known as an “open” (or “timed”) edition, and it only happens once in a while with artists or galleries that you’d actually get excited about.

Well, guess what, kids?  The Gods have smiled upon you again, and this time they’re doing it by combining three of your favorite things:  Jurassic Park, artist Mark Englert , and individually-sketched posters.  Wanna know more?  Sure ya do.  Meet me after the jump.

All week long, rumors have circulated about a “top-secret” event taking place in Los Angeles next weekend.  We mentioned that an announcement was forthcoming back on Monday or Tuesday, and in the time since…well, lemme tell ya:  you wouldn’t believe some of the crazy theories and rumors people emailed in to Limited Paper HQ.  We heard “it’s a Banksy show”, that “it’s definitely a Hanksy show”, that it was an all-Olly-Moss joint, that an entire crew of artists were involved and that they’d all been forced to sign contracts preventing them from revealing anything about this mystery event prior to the official announcement.  Somewhere in the middle of all that, Gallery1988’s Twitter feed promised that whatever was being planned would be a “game-changer”.  What’s the truth?  Find out after the jump.

Last week, BAFTA premiered special posters for their Best Picture nominees.  Today, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences had followed suit by teaming up with Gallery1988 and various artists to create posters for this year’s Best Picture Oscar nominees.  There are some impressive posters, and I’m curious to see if they’re going to go on sale at some point.  The Academy’s website lists the dimensions and type of production (screen print), which leads me to believe that these might be available for purchase some day.  I’m sure there are plenty of readers who would love to get their hands on Mark Englert‘s print for Django Unchained. [Update: Gallery1988 has tweeted the following: "G1988 x The Academy. Official. 2/14 - 2/17. More soon." so it looks like you should get your wallets ready, and keep an eye on their official website.]

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The Academy Awards will be held on February 24th at 7pm EST on ABC.

Limited Paper: Mark Englert’s DR. WHO Themed Poster Finally Drops This Weekend and We’ve Got Exclusive Pics

Mark-Englert-Dr-Who-Slice

All the way back in August, Limited Paper revealed Mark Englert’s stunning The Oldest and Most Mighty Race in the Universe, a Dr. Who-themed poster created in conjunction with the fine folks at the UK-based LtDedition Art Gallery.  Shortly following that announcement, the variant editions of that print went on sale, and shortly after that…we learned that the regular edition of the print wouldn’t be going on sale until “sometime in October”.  For those that didn’t score on the variant-drop, the wait has probably been pretty tedious, but the good news is that it’s just about over…and the better news is, the pictures that just arrived in our inbox indicate that it was more than worth the wait.

Want to find out where and when you can snag a regular edition of The Oldest and Most Mighty Race in The Universe this weekend?  Wanna see some exclusive images of a few final, printed  copies of that poster?  Of course you do!  Meet me after the jump, folks.

In the debut edition of Limited Paper, we named Mark Englert as our first-ever “Thing Worth Getting Excited About”, pointing to his outstanding posters for The Thing, Stephen King’s It, and The Walking Dead as proof of his awesomeness.  Well, it’s now a few months later, and it appears that we weren’t the only ones getting excited by Mark’s work:  just today, Mondo announced their first-ever collaboration with Englert…and from the looks of it, it’s going to be a doozy.

Want to see Mark Englert’s Back to the Future poster?  Mondo’s latest Adventure Time poster?  Meet me after the jump, my fellow poster nerds.
