With Entourage all wrapped up after eight seasons (and a mostly disappointing last round of episodes), creator Doug Ellin is already onto his next project, a new comedy pilot called 40. The series follows four four lifelong friends who help each other navigate life at 40. Basically it sounds like Entourage without all the Hollywood rigamarole, but the cast does sounds pretty interesting. Michael Rappaport and Ed Burns were previously cast as two of the four friends in the project, and now The Live Feed has word that Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) and Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) will play the other two buddies. Pasdar will pull double duty on TV since he is also part of the ABC Family series The Lying Game, whereas Imperioli spent some time with HBO on the aforementioned mobster drama. The cast at least has me interested in the project, and if anything, Ellin knows how to craft a show with an ensemble that really feel like genuine friends on screen.

ABC’s hit police drama Detroit 187 is set to return tomorrow, January 4th, from a brief holiday hiatus. Last week I started releasing my on-set video interviews with the cast and crew, and tonight is one of my favorite interviews of the bunch. That’s because I got to sit down with the talented Michael Imperioli to talk about the show, his writing, what side of the law he enjoys playing, and how he felt about Life on Mars getting the axe. He gave me thoughtful answers and a small rant about how much he dislikes cellphones. So hit the jump for my full video interview, time stamped for your convenience.

ABC’s Detroit 187 returns from a brief hiatus on January 4th with the 11th episode of the season. The police procedural drama has a nice balance of intensity and humor that helps separate it from other, more morose shows in that genre. Last month I got the opportunity to sit down with the cast and crew on set, and leading up to the return we will have a new interview for you each day. My first interview was with Erin Cummings, and now the second in the series is with newcomer Jon Michael Hill, who plays Michael Imperioli’s partner. Hit the jump for the full interview:

Police procedural dramas usually aren’t my thing. I generally don’t see the appeal of that genre, but ABC’s Detroit 187 caught me by surprise. The show has a levity to it that is earnest about its setting and the current age we live in. Jokes about cell phones or the difficulty in finding a specific gun shell at a high-traffic bridge lighten the mood and keep the stories interesting. Add a veteran cast, including The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli and NYPD Blue’s James McDaniel, mixed with relative newcomers, and give them interesting storylines to work off of and you have a nice lure. When I got the opportunity to fly out to Detroit and do on-set interviews with the cast and crew, I eagerly accepted. Over the next several days we will have a new video interview leading up to the return of Detroit 187 on January 4th. So hit the jump to check out a recap of the trip and my interview with the lovely Erin Cummings.

With Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones getting released around the country tomorrow, it’s time for my final video interview and it’s with Rachel Weisz. The reason I got to speak with the cast is our partners at Omelete were invited to the international press day and they sent me to cover it. So a big thank you to them for making this happen.
The Lovely Bones is based on the novel by Alice Sebold and it’s about a 14-year-old girl named Susie Salmon who is lured into a makeshift underground den in a cornfield and brutally raped and murdered, the latest victim of a serial killer-the man she knew as her neighbor. From heaven, Susie keeps watch over her grieving family and friends, as well as her brazen killer and the sad detective working on her case. The film stars Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Saoirse Ronan.
During my interview with Rachel Weisz I decided to start off my asking a question she hadn’t been asked…so I asked about The Brothers Bloom. Of course we also talked about Lovely Bones, filming the movie, working for Peter Jackson, and we even talked about Twitter and Facebook. It’s a great interview so take a look:

To help promote the film, our partners at Omelete were invited to the international press day and they sent me. But rather than wait till Christmas Day when the film will be playing in a lot more of the country, I’ve decided to slowly post the video interviews with the cast over the next few weeks, with Michael Imperioli up first. In the film, he plays the detective working the case.
During our conversation we talked about if he still has to research when playing a cop or a gangster, working for Peter Jackson, is he on Twitter/Facebook and what does he think about social networking, we talk about Life on Mars, and we end our conversation chatting about the upcoming HBO show Boardwalk Empire and why isn’t he on it. If you’re a fan of Michael Imperioli, I’m confident you’ll like the interview. Take a look:

While it’s taken a little while to get to movie screens, director Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones finally hits theaters next weekend – if you live in New York and Los Angeles. If you’re not in one of those cities, you’ll have to wait till Christmas Day. The film is based on the Novel by Alice Sebold and it’s been written by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson. Here’s the synopsis:
On her way home from school on a snowy December day in 1973, 14-year-old Susie Salmon is lured into a makeshift underground den in a cornfield and brutally raped and murdered, the latest victim of a serial killer–the man she knew as her neighbor, Mr. Harvey.
To help promote the film, we’ve been provided with five clips. Check them out after the jump and look for our interviews with the cast very soon:

I long ago realized that my loving a series usually means that it’s doomed. The magic worked again with last season’s Life on Mars. It was, to my way of thinking, one of the best and most intelligent shows on TV at that time. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the series was set — sort of — in 1973. An American version of a BBC hit, the series chronicled the adventures of New York police detective Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara), who having survived a car accident in 2008, somehow woke up over thirty years before. Each week, Tyler’s “enlightened” views on police and societal affairs were pitted against the “archaic” mores of his fellow cops, especially Lt. Gene Hunt (Harvey Keitel). Sam’s only ally is Policewoman Annie Norris (Gretchen Mol).
But that was only one motif. In with and under his struggles with the past, and attempts to solve crimes without the technology he was used to in the present, Tyler also was forced to try to figure out how he had arrived in the past, and whether he was really there at all. Each episode veered in the direction of one or another explanation: that he really was back in time; that he was actually in a coma; that he had died in the accident, and was in some sort of strange Purgatory; and on and on. Moreover, 2008 had an odd way of bleeding back to him, via radio broadcasts, newspapers, and the occasional odd character. More after the jump:

Just as a warning, you’ve seen a couple of these “new” images before but they had ugly, gigantic logos on them and that’s not the way they were meant to be seen. You deserve better, these films deserve better, and AMERICA deserves better. I don’t want to say that the sites that ran these images as exclusives hate America, but I’m going to. Those sites hate America.
But since Collider loves America, we’re bringing you these images, not only untarnished by our admittedly-awesome logo, but in high-resolution. You see the image at the top of this article from Peter Jackson’s “The Lovely Bones” features Susie Salmon (Saiorsie Ronan) looking out over her “Personal Heaven”? That’s my new desktop. As badly as the trailer mislead to folks thinking this film is a mystery-thriller, these images convey the sense I received from the book and I hope they’ll lure people back into seeing the movie. There’s also new photos for Jason Reitman’s “Up in the Air”. They feature George Clooney who also makes for a good desktop. Hit the jump for new images (click on them for hi-rez) from both films along with synopsis for each. “The Lovely Bones” hits theatres on December 11th. “Up in the Air” is schedule for sometime in December but will premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival on September 12th.
