Warner Bros. has released a bounty of high-resolution images from director Todd Phillips’ upcoming comedy sequel The Hangover Part III. The film acts as the trilogy capper to the popular franchise, and finds Stu (Ed Helms), Phil (Bradley Cooper), and Doug (Justin Bartha) en route to taking Alan (Zach Galifianakis) to a psychiatric hospital when the gang is side-trekked when a mysterious man (John Goodman) kidnaps Doug and forces the wolf pack to track down Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), who stole $21 million from Goodman’s character. These images tease the chaos that ensues, including the return of a more grown-up Carlos and stripper Jade (Heather Graham).

Hit the jump to check out all of the images, and if you missed our set visit coverage click here. The film also stars Jeffrey Tambor, Melissa McCarthy, and Mike Epps. The Hangover Part III opens on May 23rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Hangover Part III:
“The Hangover Part III” is the third and final film in director Todd Phillips’ record-shattering comedy franchise. This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for The Hangover Part III. The first trailer almost made the movie look like an action flick, but now we're getting a look at the comedy and the plot. In the series' final installment, Stu (Ed Helms), Phil (Bradley Cooper), and Doug (Justin Bartha) are taking Alan (Zach Galifianakis) to a psychiatric hospital, but the gang is side-trekked when a mysterious man (John Goodman) kidnaps Doug and forces the wolf pack to track down Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), who stole $21 million from Goodman's character. There are some good laughs in here, so hopefully the trilogy will go out on a high note.

Hit the jump to watch the new trailer and to check out a few new posters. The film stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, John Goodman, Mike Epps, Mike Tyson, and Jeffrey Tambor. The Hangover Part III opens on May 24th.

The first trailer for director Todd Phillips’ comedy sequel The Hangover Part III has been released. Billed with the tagline "It All Ends", and Stu threatening to burn Las Vegas to the ground, the trailer for Part III comes off more like an action movie than a comedy. There are some jokes (the trailer closes with a great one), but more than anything, it looks like Warner Bros. is trying to push the idea that the trilogy's conclusion won't be a retread like The Hangover Part II. Let's hope so.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Jamie Chung, Mike Epps, Mike Tyson, Jeffrey Tambor and Melissa McCarthy. The Hangover Part III opens on May 24th.

Casting additions today are as follows:

Mike Epps (The Hangover) will portray comedian Richard Pryor in Nina, the Nina Simone biopic from writer/director Cynthia Mort that stars Zoe Saldana (Avatar) and David Oyelowo (The Last King of Scotland).
Hip hop artist, Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi will join the indie rom-com, Two Night Stand, which marks the directorial debut of Max Nichols.
Jai Courtney (Spartacus: Vengeance) will star opposite Joel Edgerton (Warrior) and Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) in Felony. Matthew Seville (Noise) directs from Edgerton's script.

Hit the jump for more on each picture.

Nina, the drama tracing jazz vocalist/pianist Nina Simone's rise to fame, also focuses on her relationship with her manager, Clifton Henderson. Saldana stars as Simone with Oyelowo portraying Henderson. As THR reports, Epps will play comedian Pryor, who used to open for Simone in the 1960s when they were both early in their career. Reportedly, Pryor's overwhelming stage fright was calmly rocked away by the singer before performances. Nina begins shooting this week in LA.

THR also reports that Mescudi will play the boyfriend of Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr's character in Two Night Stand. The indie rom-com focuses on Analeigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love) and Miles Teller (Project X), two people who meet online and meet up for a one-night stand, only to get snowed in the next morning. The picture is currently shooting in New York.

Deadline has word that Courtney will star in Felony, a movie that puts a decorated cop (Edgerton) in the cross-hairs as he lies about running a cyclist off the road after a ...

We’ve got a couple of casting stories regarding sequels to share today. First up, Mike Epps in negotiations to reprise his role as “Black Doug” from The Hangover in director Todd Phillips’ upcoming sequel The Hangover Part III. Original cast members Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis are all set to return, and we recently learned that the debauchery will be taking place in Tijuana this time around. Ken Jeong is coming back for an expanded role in the third pic, and Variety reports that Epps will be another returning favorite. The Next Friday actor didn’t appear in The Hangover Part II, but he was great in his few scenes from the first film so this comes as welcome news.

Hit the jump for casting regarding the action sequel Red 2.

Additionally, Captain America: The First Avenger actor Neal McDonough is in talks to join the cast of Red 2. Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and Mary-Louise Parker are all reprising their roles from the first film, which centered on a team of retired CIA operatives.

The follow-up moves the action to Europe and finds the group searching for a weapon of mass destruction, but they must first break out the man who created the weapon from an insane asylum. Variety’s report lacks details regarding McDonough’s character, but he joins newcomers Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-Hun Lee, as well as Anthony Hopkins as the pic’s villain. The action comedy sequel is in the able hands of Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot.

Anchor Bay Films has acquired the rights to Mac and Devin Go to High School, featuring rappers and hip-hop stars Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. The high school comedy features Khalifa as Devin, an overachieving academic type with Dogg playing the antithetical character, Mac, a 15th year senior who becomes infatuated with his substitute teacher. When Devin struggles to write his valedictorian speech, citing lack of life experience, the two find a way to help each other out. Mac and Devin Go to High School, directed by Dylan Brown (Boss'n Up) also stars Mike Epps (The Hangover), Andy Milonakis (Waiting), Affion Crocket (Never Back Down) and a voiceover from Mystikal. As long as Snoop brings his green hat, I'm sold. Hit the jump for more on the project.

THR reports that the pop group Far East Movement will also have a cameo in Mac and Devin Go to High School. The duo recently collaborated on the movie's soundtrack that was released this past December. It featured the hit single "Young, Wild and Free." Dogg and Khalifa will promote the movie on their tour. Check out the video for "Young, Wild and Free" below.

The first trailer for the remake of Sparkle has gone online. The story was inspired by the legendary female singing group The Supremes and stars Jordin Sparks, Tika Sumpter, and Carmen Ejogo as three sisters who start out singing at their local church, and go on to find great success—and troubles—as a Motown girl group. The film also sadly marks the final onscreen performance of Whitney Houston, as she plays the single mother of Sparks’ lead character. The period and Motown setting is ripe with possibilities, but the songs in this trailer seem a bit too modern to fit. This probably has something to do with the fact that R. Kelly wrote original songs for the film, but the story does show promise so I'll hold off judgment until we've seen more.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Cee-Lo Green, and Omari Hardwick. Sparkle opens on August 17th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Sparkle:

Musical prodigy, Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) struggles to become a star while overcoming issues that are tearing her family apart. From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to a single mother (Whitney Houston), she tries to balance a new romance with music manager, Stix (Derek Luke) while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life will bring as she and her two sisters (Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter) strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era.

With Warner Bros.' musical remake A Star Is Born getting pushed back indefinitely due to Beyoncé's pregnancy, Sony Pictures is jumping all over the chance to put out its own music-centric redo. Variety reports that Whitney Houston is in talks to join both Mike Epps (The Hangover) and American Idol-winner Jordin Sparks in the studio's remake of the 1976 music drama Sparkle. Salim Akil (Jumping the Broom) will direct the pic from a screenplay by his wife, Mara Brock Akil (writer/producer for ABC's Cougar Town).
For those unfamiliar with the original, it was co-written by Joel Schumacher and followed the rise of an all-sister trio whose success wreaks havoc on their personal lives in the late 1950s. Per the report, Akil's remake will be set during Motown's rise in 1968 Detroit and will focus on the youngest of three sisters, a musically gifted youngster named Sparkle (Sparks) whose rise to fame is spattered with familial troubles. There is no word on which roles Epps and potentially Houston will be taking on but, with production on the remake set to begin next month, my guess is that more details will be available shortly.

Virginia Madsen has signed on to play mother to Amanda Seyfried in Red Riding Hood, a "gothic horror reimagining" of the fairy tale. This is director Catherine Hardwicke's follow-up to the first entry in The Twilight Saga. She's working with a script from Orphan scribe David Leslie Johnson, which (per Variety) is "set in a village haunted by a werewolf." Madsen and Seyfried will be joined by Lukas Haas, Shiloh Fernandez, Julie Christie, and Gary Oldman on screen when March 11, 2011.

Hit the jump for casting details for the Showtime Laura Linney comedy The Big C and the wedding rom-com Jumping the Broom.

According to Deadline, Reid Scott has joined the cast of the cancer-centric dark comedy The Big C, in a "heavily recurring role" as the show's resident oncologist. Linney stars as a "suburban wife and mother who reclaims her life after a terminal cancer diagnosis."

For the sake of brevity, we'll continue to call this one a comedy. But given the subject matter and the network, I would assume The Big C will be on brand with Weeds, Nurse Jackie, and The United States of Tara --- half-hour series centered around strong females that never really go for "haha funny." That's fine by me; Showtime continues to provide great roles for actresses in a medium that is otherwise lacking. The Big C premieres on August 16th.

On the flip side of the somber spectrum, Sony has plenty of reason to celebrate with the light-hearted wedding ceremony at the center of Jumping ...
