Moon Bloodgood Exclusive Interview FALLING SKIES

On TNT’s new alien drama Falling Skies, actress Moon Bloodgood plays Anne Glass, a pediatrician who lost her only child in the initial attack. The heart of the ensemble, Anne has yet to fully face her own tragedy because she is too busy helping those around her. She has bonded with Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), as a result of their losses, and keeps up a sturdy exterior, helping the survivors cope both physically and emotionally with their situation, but she is quite obviously haunted by the death of her son.

At a recent press day for the series, Collider sat down with Moon Bloodgood for this exclusive interview, in which she talked about how lucky she was not to have to audition for this role, how relieved she was not to be the action girl this time around, how she’s a big fan of the alien genre and used to even fall asleep watching Aliens as bedtime viewing, and how she doesn’t take anything for granted in this business, out of not wanting to feel the disappointment. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

TNT presented some new footage from their upcoming sci-fi series Falling Skies today to fans at WonderCon, and we were there to cover it. We’ve already seen a trailer and TV spot for TNT’s new sci-fi drama series Falling Skies which has a two-hour premiere Sunday, June 19, at 9/8c. Now the cable network has unveiled another extended look at the series with a cool trailer/featurettes which gives us a much better idea of the story and the characters we’ll be introduced to this summer. This is the most impressive look at the series yet, and I’m definitely eager to check it out in a few months.

TNT has unveiled a new television spot for its alien invasion drama Falling Skies. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the series stars Noah Wyle as a former university professor and father who has taken up the leadership role in a resistance faction made up of soldiers and civilians alike. In addition to Wyle, Falling Skies also stars Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, Will Patton, and Drew Roy.

As you’ll be able to see throughout the promo, Falling Skies is set to premiere on TNT this June. While I can’t say I’m waiting on pins-and-needles for the series, Steven Weber’s line about how some of the survivors of the alien invasion’s “first wave” believe it is proof that they are “the best of mankind” has me interested in the human dynamic of the series. With this in mind, hit the jump to check out the new spot as well as each of the previous promos for the series.

First Trailer for Steven Spielberg-Produced Alien Invasion Series FALLING SKIES

TNT has debuted the first trailer for Falling Skies, an alien invasion drama executive produced by Steven Spielberg.  Noah Wyle (ER) stars as “a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying alien force.”  Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation), Drew Roy (Secretariat), Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters), and Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender) also star.

My hope is that the Spielberg influence acts as a counterbalance to the potential limitations of a basic cable budget.  The trailer is encouraging in this respect, in that I see nothing hokey about what is presented.  Certainly nothing that my man Noah Wyle can’t overcome.  Judge for yourself after the jump.

4 Movie Clips from FASTER

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: November 19th, 2010 at 3:02 pm

With Dwayne Johnson’s Faster hitting theaters next week, CBS Films has provided us with 4 clips from Johnson’s return to kicking ass. While I’m under embargo from saying too much, I don’t think they’ll mind if I tell you Faster is exactly what I hoped it’d be:  a lean, violent, revenge flick that shows what Johnson can do when he’s not making family films.

What I especially like about the movie is that it never wastes time trying to give Johnson’s character too much backstory, or trying to make him out to be a saint.  The movie starts with him leaving jail and almost immediately he kills someone.  That’s Faster.  If you’re into watching Johnson going around extracting revenge on the folks that killed his brother, you’ll like this film.  Hit the jump to watch 4 clips.

Director George Tillman Jr. On Set Interview FASTER

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: November 8th, 2010 at 9:58 pm

While director George Tillman Jr. was incredibly busy when I got to visit the set of Faster earlier this year, towards the end of the afternoon, during some down time, we managed to get in a few questions about Dwayne Johnson’s return to kicking ass.

What I liked about Tillman Jr. was that he told us Faster reminded him of a 70′s action film (which he’s a big fan of).  He told us, “I just felt like this movie was a throwback to those films in the Seventies… like with Steve McQueen.”

The other thing that made me happy was that Faster wouldn’t be filled with CGI cars and fake driving. Tillman told us, “we doin’ it all, there’s no visual effects, it’s us.” And if they didn’t get a shot they needed, “we gotta come back and get it next week.  I think that’s what makes it interesting.  The closest recently I think is what (Quentin) Tarantino did with Death Proof. “  Much more after the jump:

New Trailer for FASTER starring Dwayne Johnson

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: October 12th, 2010 at 12:45 am

With the November 24 release date only a month away for Dwayne Johnson’s return to kicking ass in movie theaters, CBS Films has released a new green band trailer for Faster.  If you remember, last week the studio released a red band trailer, which showed you this wasn’t another Dwayne Johnson kids flick.

Written by Joe and Tony Gayton (Bulletproof), Faster is directed by George Tillman, Jr. (Notorious) and it stars Carla Gugino, Billy Bob Thornton, Maggie Grace, Jennifer Carpenter, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Moon Bloodgood, and Tom Berenger.  Hit the jump to watch:

FASTER Red Band Trailer Starring Dwayne Johnson

by Bill Graham    Posted: October 6th, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Dwayne Johnson is looking to push into more action after a slew of kid-friendly flicks and CBS Films’ Faster is his re-entry into the genre. George Tillman, Jr. (Soul Food, Barbershop) will direct the hard-nosed revenge flick, written by Joe and Tony Gayton (Bulletproof). The flick has already received an R rating and the new clip certainly shows its violent and sexy side. Hit the jump for the red band trailer, plot synopsis, and the mildly impressive cast.

Continuing our first-look image series of movies playing at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, we have images from John Carpenter’s The Ward starring Amber Heard, Mamie Gummer, Danielle Panabaker, Jared Harris, and Lyndsy Fonseca.  The Ward is Carpenter’s first film in over a decade and that alone is reason enough to see it. We also have images from Shawn Ku’s Beautiful Boy, which has a killer cast that includes Michael Sheen, Maria Bello, Moon Bloodgood, Alan Tudyk, Kyle Gallner, Austin Nichols, and Meat Loaf Aday.

SDCC 2010: TEEN WOLF and FALLING SKIES Panels

Both MTV and TNT teased eager Comic-Con attendees with glimpses at new television programs Teen Wolf (MTV) and Falling Skies (TNT).  Ironically both panels were back to back and both either draw from familiar source material, Teen Wolf being a re-envisioning of the Michael J. Fox movie, and Falling Skies using themes akin to War of the Worlds and other comparable alien invasion epics. Did the sneak peeks serve anything fresh to audiences with their bite size snippets, or were they awkward rehashes of contrived stories? Hit the jump to find out.

Teaser Poster for Dwayne Johnson’s FASTER

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: July 20th, 2010 at 1:06 pm

CBS Films has released a teaser poster for Faster – which is Dwayne Johnson’s return to action.  Like I said the other day when I posted the teaser trailer…If you’re like me and think Johnson has been wasting a lot of time in the family friendly arena, you’ll be happy to know in Faster he’s all business as he’s trying to avenge the murder of his brother.  For a lot more on the movie, you can read my set visit here.  Hit the jump to check out the poster:

We’ve spilled a lot of ink on Fox’s prehistoric drama Terra Nova, but that’s not the only Steven Spielberg-produced series with a sci-fi bent premiering in 2011.  Plus, TNT now has the jump on early looks, as the network released twenty new stills from the alien invasion drama Falling Skies.  Unfortunately, no extraterrestrials are pictured, but there’s plenty of gun totin’ and motorcycle ridin’ to tide over this red-blooded young male.

Stars Noah Wyle (ER) and Moon Bloodgood (Terminator: Salvation) as well as co-executive producer Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) will hold a Q&A panel session on July 23rd at Comic-Con.  Hit the jump for details, and check out the pics.

BURN NOTICE: SEASON THREE DVD Review

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: June 21st, 2010 at 12:07 pm

If you’ve read my DVD reviews for season one and season two of USA’s Burn Notice, then you know that I’m kind of in love with the show.  It has a formula and it (mostly) continues to work due to strong performances and sharp writing.  What I like most about the Burn Notice is that it’s redefined my notion of what a spy thriller can be.  It doesn’t negate a show like Chuck or the James Bond movies, but its matter-of-fact tone is a fresh take on the genre that you won’t find anywhere else.

Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) says in the show’s intro, “As long as you’re burned, you’re not going anywhere.”  Hit the jump for my take on where Burn Notice went in its third season.
