Wes Anderson’s latest feature, Moonrise Kingdom, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week to a wildly enthusiastic response, and now us commonfolk are nearing the chance to check the film out ourselves. The film opens in limited release this Friday, May 25th, and a new featurette has gone online in which star Bill Murray gives a tour of the Moonrise Kingdom under the influence of some tasty Sailor Jerry’s. It’s the kind of featurette that could only happen with Murray involved. Additionally, Shortlist Magazine commissioned a number of posters for Moonrise Kingdom that have turned out splendidly; there’s one done in the style of a record that I absolutely must have right this second.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette and posters. The film also stars Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, and Jason Schwartzman.

Four featurettes for director Wes Anderson’s forthcoming Moonrise Kingdom have made it to the web. And like everything Anderson is involved with, they’re nothing if not peculiar. Each clip focuses in on one of Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, and the director himself. And each is hosted by fellow cast member Bob Balaban, who comments on amusing behind-the-scenes footage of his subjects, exuding Anderson’s trademark oblique humor to parody the overly-earnest educational reels from the ’50s and ’60s. Example: “Edward’s a natural leader,” he proclaims. “Here he is sticking a pencil in the mouth of a khaki scout.” Needless to say, they’re both delightful and informative.
Hit the jump to check them out. Set in 1965, on the fictional New Panzance Island, Moonrise Kingdom finds a pair of 12 year-olds (Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward) falling in love and disappearing together into the wilderness. A group of oddball authority figures, including Willis, Norton, Murray, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, and Jason Schwartzman pull out all the stops to find them before a massive storm hits. It arrives in theatres on May 25.

Focus Features has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom. The featurette does a good job of explaining the plot, and most of the adult cast– Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, and Jason Schwartzman—break down their respective characters. The cast also talks up Anderson’s distinct visual style, but the style is large part of why I’m slightly wary of the film. The movie looks cute and funny, but it also seems like its verging on self-parody. Hopefully, the film’s heart and humor won’t be overshadowed by the style.
Hit the jump to check out the featurette, and click here for six clips from the movie. The film also stars Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward, and Bob Balaban. Moonrise Kingdom will open the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, and open in limited release on May 25th.

Last week we shared two clips from Wes Anderson’s latest feature, Moonrise Kingdom, and now all of the clips released thus far are officially online. There are six clips in total and they’re chock full of Anderson staples. The visuals are gorgeous, the actors look like they’re having a blast, and the camera movements are undeniably Anderson-y. For those unfamiliar, the story centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness that ensues from the community’s search for the pair. I’m a big fan of Anderson so this one’s been on my radar for a while, and these clips only serve to reinforce my excitement for the film. Let the twee commence!
Hit the jump to check out the clips. The film stars Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, Jared Gilman, and Kara Hayward. Moonrise Kingdom will open the Cannes Film Festival (in-competition) and will open in limited release on May 25th.

While walking around at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, I’ve been taking tons of pictures of all the posters/banners/theater standees that have been on display. For those unaware, CinemaCon is a convention put on for theater owners in order to get a look at what the studios have to offer for the rest of the year, and where vendors can show new products for theaters to buy. It’s basically Comic-Con for theater owners. Besides showing off never before seen footage, the studios often bring the cast and the filmmakers. Over the course of a few days, Hollywood comes to Las Vegas.
While a lot of the banners are just logos, I think they’re still worth checking out. Also, it’s important to note that the posters/displays change during the week so you never know when something cool will premiere. Hit the jump for posters/banners for a ton of movies including James Bond Skyfall, Dark Shadows, Moonrise Kingdom, Sparkle, That’s My Boy, Sinister, The Amazing Spider-Man, House at the End of the Street, The Host, Battleship, Looper, Step Up Revolution, Ted, Sinister, Here Comes the Boom, and so many more.

The first clip from Wes Anderson’s latest feature, Moonrise Kingdom, has gone online. The story centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness that ensues from the community’s search for the pair. This clip features three Anderson newbies—Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, and Edward Norton—confronting the situation at hand as only Wes Anderson characters can. I love the casting of Norton as a Scout Master, and Swinton is delectably harsh in this first clip. The costumes ain’t bad either.
Hit the jump to check out the clip. The film also stars Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, Jared Gilman, and Kara Hayward. Moonrise Kingdom will open the Cannes Film Festival (in-competition) and will open in limited release on May 25th. [Update: We added another clip with Schwartzman and the two young stars after the jump.]

With writer-director Wes Anderson, nothing is ever very simple. The Fantastic Mr. Fox is not just for kids, Ben Stiller is not just a comedic actor, and these new character posters for Anderson’s latest feature, Moonrise Kingdom, are not just ordinary posters. A batch of seven character posters for the film have gone online, but the catch is that they’re all motion posters with interactive qualities. Moreover, they’re a thing of beauty. The artwork for Anderson’s films is always gorgeous, but these Moonrise Kingdom posters are at once visually appetizing and downright fun.

An international poster for Wes Anderson‘s new comedy Moonrise Kingdom has gone online. The story centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness of the community’s search for the pair. While I prefer the first poster for the movie, this one has a nice touch by making it clear that the background is a painted backdrop.

A new batch of images from Wes Anderson’s upcoming pic Moonrise Kingdom has landed online. The story centers on a young boy and a young girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness of the community’s search for the pair. Anderson’s stellar ensemble cast is filled out with the likes of Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, and, of course, Jason Schwartzman. These images give us a nice feel for the tone Anderson has in mind, and as a big fan of the writer/director I’m incredibly excited to check the full film out (I included it in the latest installment of our Most Anticipated feature).
Hit the jump to check out the images, which feature stars Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward fairly prominently. Moonrise Kingdom opens on May 25th.

Moonrise Kingdom will premiere in Cannes on May 16, opening the 65th annual edition of the world’s biggest film festival. Directed by Wes Anderson who co-wrote the screenplay with Roman Coppola, the film will be released in French cinemas on the same day as its screening in Cannes and on May 25 in the US. Cannes Film Festival president Gilles Jacobs commented:
“With Wes Anderson opening the 65th Festival de Cannes, young American cinema will be celebrated on the Croisette.”
Produced by Wes Anderson, Scott Rudin, Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson for Focus Features and Indian Paintbrush, Moonrise Kingdom stars Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman. More details and the trailer after the jump.

The poster debuts for new Wes Anderson movies are almost as exciting as the trailer premieres. Each and every one of Anderson’s posters are works of art unto themselves, and the first poster for the director’s latest effort Moonrise Kingdom is no different. The one sheet eschews the film’s famous stars for its two young principal actors in an almost Grimm fairy tale-esque setting. The story centers on a young boy and a young girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness of the community’s search for the pair. I loved the first trailer for the film, but if you’re not a fan of Anderson’s storytelling/aesthetic then Moonrise Kingdom isn’t likely to change your mind. That said, I can’t wait to see what Moonrise Kingdom has to offer.

Three new images have gone online for Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom. As we saw from the trailer, the film couldn’t look more Wes Anderson-y. He found a perfect place for his style and tone with his adaptation of Fantastic Mr. Fox, but it will be interesting to see if he’s evolved with his return to live-action. The film centers on a young boy and girl who decide to run away together into the wilderness, and the madness of the community’s search for the pair. It looks like fun, and I tend to enjoy seeing Bruce Willis and Edward Norton in comic roles.
