Morris Chestnut has become a de-facto supporting player for mid-budget Hollywood fare. The talented actor still hasn’t quite found a role fitting of the talent he displayed as Ricky in his debut Boyz N The Hood; but he makes the most of whatever limited screen-time/thin material he’s given. He’s easily the best thing in best-forgotten junk like The Cave or Half Past Dead. In this Friday’s The Call, Chestnut still doesn’t have nearly enough to do. As Officer Paul Phillips, most of Chestnut’s screen time is relegated to pensively reacting to Halle Berry over a walkie-talkie; but yet again Chestnut ably coveys complexities to a relationship not given nearly enough lip service. It’s a testament to the actor that the role is more than just the ‘inefficient cop’/’potential love interest’.

In the following candid interview with Morris Chestnut, he discusses the genre work he’s done in the past and why The Call is so much better, his preparation process for playing an officer and his upcoming role in Kick Ass 2. For the full interview, hit the jump.

New Trailer for THE CALL Starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin

A new trailer for director Brad Anderson’s (The Machinist) upcoming thriller The Call has been released online.  The film stars Halle Berry as a 911 operator who, after taking a life-altering call from a teenager (Abigail Breslin) that’s been kidnapped, realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.  This trailer is a bit more intense and less plot-driven than the first one, and it’s quite effective.  Anderson looks to have crafted a surprisingly involving and potentially frightening thriller, and I’m getting a strong “twisted villain” vibe from this trailer.  Here’s hoping the full film delivers.

TriStar Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming thriller The Call (previously titled The Hive).  Directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist), the film stars Halle Berry as a 911 operator who, after taking a life-altering call from a teenager (Abigail Breslin) that’s been kidnapped, realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.  Though the premise is fairly straightforward, the trailer is actually pretty interesting and makes The Call look like it could be a neat little thriller.

First Trailer and Images for IDENTITY THIEF Starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy

The first trailer for the comedy Identity Thief has been released.  Directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), the movie stars Jason Bateman as an accounts rep who has a week to travel across the country and track down the con artist (Melissa McCarthy) who stole his identity.  Horrible Bosses was a fantastic surprise last year and the pairing of Bateman and McCarthy sounds great, but this trailer is a tad disappointing.  Many of the jokes hinge on physical comedy, so hopefully they’re saving the dialogue-driven stuff for the full film. The caliber of talent involved is promising and McCarthy looks to have put together quite the character, so I’m still eager to see more.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer and to check out some images.  The film also stars Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick, and Eric StonestreetIdentity Thief opens February 8, 2013.

It’s a minor miracle that Kick-Ass 2 is a reality.  Matthew Vaughn’s first film was a respectable success but the R-rated superhero pic was by no means a blockbuster, so few were expecting a follow-up to come to fruition.  But alas, production is currently underway on Kick-Ass 2 in Toronto under the direction of Jeff Wadlow, and some new set photos have surfaced that give us a look at a little older Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl and the actress’ stunt double in full costume.  We also get a peek at Aaron Johnson as the titular Kick-Ass and Hit Girl’s bike, as well as Morris Chestnut who takes over the role of Sergeant Marcus Williams from Omari Hardwick, who played the character in the first film.

Hit the jump to check out the bevy of set images.  The film also stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Olga Kurkulina, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison and Jim CarreyKick-Ass 2 opens on June 28th, 2013.

You’re driving down the street, and it’s suddenly blocked off.  You notice these weird yellow signs with nonsensical letters or numbers.  There’s unusual glow lighting up a neighborhood you can’t usually see from your house.  What you might have here is a film company shooting in your town.  It happens a lot, and you never know where they might pop up…until now.

The following is a semi-comprehensive list of films currently shooting, what they’re shooting, and where they’re shooting.  We’ll be telling you where you might get to see the very famous, the kinda famous and (if all goes well) the soon-to-be famous. While we can’t list every single movie, television show, or student film in production, you’ll get a pretty good idea of what the heck is going on where all those people are buzzing about.  Want to know where in the world are Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Woody Harrelson, and Leonardo DiCaprio? V: The Complete First Season Blu-Ray Review

by     Posted: November 23rd, 2010 at 7:38 am

If you’re old enough, you remember the original incarnations of V and V: The Final Battle.  Me?  I used to stay up late to watch them when they were re-run as a child.  I was fascinated by the Visitors and when I learned ABC has rebooting the show, I was on-board for, at the very least, the beginning.  Did I want to stay after that?  Find out after the jump.
