Something Like a Trailer for MOTHER’S DAY

Darren Lynn Bousman, best known as the director of Saw II, Saw III, and (you guessed it) Saw IV, is the man behind the remake of the 1980 horror film Mother’s Day.  Rebecca De Mornay stars as the mother who helps her three fugitive sons take care of a few unwanted houseguests.  Bill caught Mother’s Day at Fantastic Fest and thought the result was “a surprisingly fun mixed bag.”

Jaime King, Deborah Ann Woll, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Shawn Ashmore, and  Matt O’Leary star alongside De Mornay in the April 1 release.  Bloody Disgusting found what they refer to as a “German sales promo,” but I wouldn’t judge if you’d like to call it a trailer.  We’ll post the official trailer if/when becomes available, but until then, this sales trailer provides plenty of insight into the look and plot of the film.  Watch it after the break.

Fantastic Fest 2010: MOTHER’S DAY Review

When the director of Saw 2, 3, and 4 decides to remake a B-movie horror, you expect some graphic and torturous kills and perhaps not much else. However, when you gather a talented group of actors and give him a good script, it appears you get a little bit more than what you pay for. That is exactly what Darren Lynn Bousman’s latest effort, Mother’s Day, proves, as he takes B-movie mechanics and surgically implants a backbone of drama that ends up being a surprisingly fun mixed bag. Collider’s FANTASTIC FEST Diary: Day 1 – ENTER THE VOID, LET ME IN, MOTHER’S DAY

Day one of Fantastic Fest 2010 began with a hiccup in the ticketing system and ended with milk and cookies. The 6th annual genre film festival in Austin, Texas began on Thursday and took a first timer like myself through an out of body experience with Gaspar Noe’s Enter The Void, to a remake of a modern classic with Matt Reeves’ Let Me In and finally home with a severely demented family in Darren Lynn Bousman’s Mother’s Day. Third Wave of Fantastic Fest 2010 Films Features RED, MOTHER’S DAY, INDEPENDENCE DAY, SPACEBALLS and More

With Fantastic Fest 2010 in Austin, Texas mere weeks away, the third wave of films playing the festival has been announced. Among the highlights are Darren Bousman’s thriller Mother’s Day starring Rebecca De Mornay, Guy Moshe’s Bunraku with Woody Harrelson and Josh Hartnett and Red, starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and many more. Add these to the previous announcements of the World Premiere of Sharktopus, special screenings of Let Me In, Buried, Stone, I Spit on Your Grave and more, Fantastic Fest certainly sounds like it’ll live up to its name.

Shawn Ashmore Exclusive Video Interview FROZEN

Opening this Friday, in limited release, is writer/director Adam Green’s Frozen.  The film is about three friends that get stranded on a ski lift late Sunday night.  Since this particular park is closed on weekdays (it’s a New England thing), the friends are forced to make life-or-death decisions while freezing high in the air.  If you’re someone that’s afraid of ski lifts, Frozen will only add fuel to the fire.

The movie played at this year’s BNAT in Austin and at last week’s Sundance Film Festival to very enthusiastic crowds.  I saw a screening and thought it was great.  While the film is limited in locations, the real world aspect and the feeling that what you’re watching could actually happen will definitely freak you out.  Definitely recommended.

Anyway, last week I was able to speak with Shawn Ashmore as he plays one of the three friends trapped on the ski lift.  We talked about being at Sundance, making Frozen, his next movie Mother’s Day, and he explains that he has a twin brother that also acts…so he wasn’t on Smallville!  Watch the interview after the jump:

Eli Roth, Jamie King and Chris Massoglia Red Carpet Video Interviews Scream Awards 2009

At last night’s 2009 Scream Awards in Hollywood, I managed to interview tons of people on the red carpet. Unfortunately, some of the interviews were kind of short. So instead of posting them individually, I’ve grouped them together and after the jump you can watch Eli Roth, Jamie King and Chris Massoglia.

Eli Roth talked about how he just joined Twitter and I asked him if he’s finally decided on his next project. Jamie King talked about “Mother’s Day” and how she’s writing a blog on the L.A. Times website. And Chris Massoglia revealed that he’s in Zac Efron’s “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud” and he plays a small but important part towards the end of the movie. I’ve got to give credit to whoever cut this behind the scenes video from director Darren Lynn Bousman’s “Mother’s Day”, as they’ve done an awesome job. Usually production blogs are boring and safe. Not this one. As you’ll see, this one has swearing, talk of serious violence, and some great editing. Whoever cut this must have drank a lot of red bull as it’s one minute of awesome. Take a look. You’ll agree with me.
