Billy Ray Writing Columbia Pictures’ Somali Pirate Pic

Do you remember that crazy pirate thing that happened earlier this year? Well, just in case if you forgot about how truly crazy that news story was, Columbia Pictures is now aiming to bring it to the big screen as they’ve hired writer Billy Ray (“Breach”, “State of Play”) to write the screenplay, which will tell the story of Captain Richard Phillips.  More after the jump.

24 Co-Executive Producer Jon Cassar Gets Behind the Wheel of MOTORCADE with Ryan Reynolds in Talks to Star

DreamWorks is tuning up “Motorcade” again as they’ve brought director and “24″ co-executive producer Jon Cassar to helm the thriller about a disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when the President is kidnapped in New York.  Cassar sounds perfect for this job because he’s directed 59 episodes of “24″ and this premise sounds as terrible as anything on that show.  DreamWorks is also looking at Ryan Reynolds to play the lead but it remains to be seen if he can give the same kind of shouting/torturing intensity that Cassar got from Kiefer Sutherland.
