The marketing machine for director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is really cranking up: just yesterday we brought you this fantastic ad and poster for David 8, the human-looking android (played by Michael Fassbender) who is a product of the Weyland Corporation (headed by Guy Pearce). But it seems that David 8 is not the only machine roving around the universe in Prometheus and these new viral posters serve to introduce you to some of the others.  No, there are no more androids, but fans of these schematics of the explorer ship Prometheus should enjoy these new images equally as much. Prometheus also stars Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Logan Marshall-Green, and Charlize Theron, and opens in 3D on June 8th. Posters for HARRY POTTER, IRON MAN, 300, JURASSIC PARK and More Get the 8-Bit Treatment

Sure, the whole Google Maps 8-bit for NES thing might haven been an April Fool’s gag, but there’s something wonderfully timeless about the 8-bit era, when there was a limited color palette and characters moved around realms without bending their knees.  Not only is it still quite fun to pop in a Nintendo cartridge (in my case, with a Game Genie still attached), but 8-bit gaming has evolved into an art form and artist Eric Palmer is embracing it, using the 8-bit style to put a new spin on some iconic films.  Some examples are Jurassic Park, 300, Harry Potter, Office Space, Star Wars and The Matrix. New Poster for THE RAVEN, Bonus Posters from Sundance 2012: THE IMPOSTER, RED LIGHTS

Although the release date for The Raven has been pushed back a month, that’s allowed Relativity to give us more looks at the property, like this new poster. It’s not quite as ink-soaked or blood-soaked as previous efforts and resembles more of a phoenix than a raven, but it’s stylish nonetheless. Here’s what you need to know about the posters we’ve rounded up today:

  • Director James McTeigue’s The Raven stars John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe, who joins a detective (Luke Evans of Immortals) to stop a killer who’s committing crimes based on Poe’s works.
  • The Imposter, a documentary film by director Bart Layton (Locked Up Abroad) that follows a young Frenchman who posed as a Texas family’s 16-year-old son who had been missing for three years
  • From director Rodrigo Cortes (Buried) comes Red Lights, a paranormal thriller that questions the supernatural and whether a world-renowned psychic is actually gifted or just a charlatan. The film stars Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver and Elizabeth Olsen.

New Posters for CHRONICLE, COSMOPOLIS and RISE OF THE GUARDIANS

With less than two weeks left in 2011, it’s time to set our sights on movies that will be opening in 2012. Since the coming year is releasing a ton of big budget movies that will dominate media coverage, we thought we’d take a moment to highlight some of the lesser known fare that will be gracing the screens over the  next twelve months. We’ve got some new posters that will be a first look at these projects for some of you and a gentle reminder for others. First up is the superhero “found footage” thriller Chronicle by director Josh Trank (The Kill Point). Trank’s cinematic directorial debut features three teenagers who become imbued with superpowers and how those abilities darken their lives. Next, from David Cronenberg (A Dangerous Method) comes Cosmopolis, starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight). The adaptation of the Don DeLillo’s novel by the same name follows a young billionaire (Pattinson) as his limo traverses Manhattan in search of a haircut (not making this up). Finally, the animated Rise of the Guardians, which has the most charming poster in my opinion, is based off of the “Guardians of Childhood” book series by William Joyce and features childhood legends teaming up to take on the Boogeyman. Hit the jump to check out the posters.

Poster Roundup: THE RUM DIARY, I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT and MARGIN CALL

the-rum-diary-i-dont-know-how-she-does-it-margin-call-poster-slice

We have a trio of new posters to bring your way this morning. First up, we have the one sheet from writer/director Bruce Robinson’s The Rum Diary. Starring Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Richard Jenkins, Giovanni Ribisi and Aaron Eckhart, the film sees Depp return to the world of Hunter S. Thompson and tells the story of a journalist who finds his writing voice and integrity while working in Puerto Rico. Up next is a poster for the comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Pierce Brosnan. I can’t say the poster does much for me but, to be fair, it would have to be pretty stellar for my interest to rise above sea level.

Finally, we also have a new poster for the financial thriller Margin Call starring Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci and Zachary Quinto. While the promo is kind of bland, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the film. For those who haven’t already, I recommend clicking here and here to read Steve’s exclusive interviews with the cast and writer/director J.C. Chandor at Sundance. Check out each of the new posters after the jump. The Rum Diary opens on October 28th. I Don’t Know How She Does It opens on September 16th and Margin Call hits theaters on October 21st.

Six New Character Banners for DRIVE

by     Posted 1 year, 295 days ago

Six new character banners from director Nicolas Winding Refn’s (Bronson) crime drama Drive have landed online. Starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, and Oscar Isaac, the film centers on a stunt driver (Gosling) who moonlights as a wheelman for hire. Matt screened the film at Comic-Con last month and loved it. Steve also loved it and I’m currently angry at both of them for having seen it already. So there.

Check out the new banners after the jump. Drive opens on September 16th at which point my vendetta with my Collider colleagues may finally come to an end.

New Posters for APOLLO 18 and RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

New posters for sci-fi/thrillers Apollo 18 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes have landed online. For those unaware, director Gonzalo López-Gallego’s Apollo 18 is a found-footage pic set in space which posits that 1972′s Apollo 17 mission was America’s last “official” manned moon trip. According to the new sheet, the film will help explain why the nation stopped visiting the moon (I’m assuming that it has nothing to do with the fact that the climate sucks and there isn’t HBO).

As for Rise, director Rupert Wyatt’s prequel stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, Tom Felton, and John Lithgow. Aside from featuring an ape creepily peering over Franco’s shoulder, the international sheet on display here does a nice job of explaining why animals can’t have nice things. Check out each of the new posters after the jump. Apollo 18 opens on September 2nd with Rise hitting theaters this weekend (August 5th).

Four Bloody Promo Posters for Francis Ford Coppola’s TWIXT

by     Posted 1 year, 328 days ago

twixt-promo-poster-slice

If you were around these parts during Comic-Con, you may have already read about writer/director Francis Ford Coppola’s highly engaging Hall H panel for his new film Twixt. While I was off doing interviews somewhere with someone, the five-time Oscar winner was entertaining audience members with a live-cut of the film with the help of his iPad and musician Dan Deacon. It was also then that he revealed his plan to tour with the pic and essentially DJ the film via on-the-spot editing to be determined by audience reaction. Take that, 3D…

With all of this experimentation in mind, four promotional posters for Twixt have now landed online and can be viewed in all of their bloody glory after the jump. Starring Val Kilmer, Elle Fanning, Bruce Dern, and Ben Chaplin, the film will tell the story (in one way or another) of a declining writer (Kilmer) who becomes caught up in a small town murder mystery while on his book tour. The film will premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival which runs from September 8th – 18th.

New Posters and Comic-Con Footage for IN TIME

by     Posted 1 year, 334 days ago

in-time-poster-slice-1

Following on the heels of the film’s Comic-Con panel earlier today, new posters for In Time and the footage that was shown during the panel have now landed online. In his panel recap, Adam was pleased with the film’s sizzle reel and, having seen that footage now for myself, I have to say that I feel similarly. From what I can gather, the pic looks like a pretty slick thriller woven into the type of sci-fi setting and overtones that writer/director Andrew Niccol is known for. Briefly, In Time is set in a futuristic society in which aging can be stopped/controlled. As a result, time becomes the preferred form of currency and something that is, as indicated by the posters, both powerful and lucrative.

Check out the posters and footage after the jump. In Time also stars Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Alex Pettyfer, Johny Galecki, Matt Bomer, and Vincent Kartheiser. 20th Century Fox will release the film later this year on October 28th.

New Posters for CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE., TERRA NOVA, and SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD

by     Posted 1 year, 362 days ago

We have a plethora of new posters to bring you tonight from Crazy, Stupid, Love., Fox’s Terra Nova, and Spy Kids: All the Time in the World. Beginning with Crazy, I’m looking forward to this pic because of its stellar cast and I’m a fan of these new posters because it gives me a heads up on which of the said cast members embody “Crazy,” “Stupid,” and “Love.” Starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, and Marisa Tomei, Crazy, Stupid, Love. hits theaters on July 29th.

Next up, we have some very cool sheets from Fox’s and producer Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi drama Terra Nova. Up until now, I was a little concerned that the series’ promo campaign was trying to look kind of like Avatar without looking exactly like Avatar. However, the three “Warning” messages on display here are pretty creative and stylish to boot. Fox just announced that Terra Nova will premiere on Monday, September 26th. Finally, we also have some new looks at Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, one of which is a character poster for a dog. Enough said. The Robert Rodriguez written/directed pic stars Jessica Alba, Antonio Banderas, Jeremy Piven, Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega, and Joel McHale. It opens in 3D on August 19th. Hit the jump to check out the new posters.

8 New Character Posters for IMMORTALS

by     Posted 1 year, 364 days ago

immortals-poster-slice

Relativity has released eight new character posters for director Tarsem Singh’s (The Cell) Immortals. Starring Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke, John Hurt, Stephen Dorff, and Freida Pinto, the film centers on a stonemason named Theseus (Cavill) as he attempts to keep the long lost Bow of Epirus out of the hands of the ruthless King Hyperion (Rourke). As for the sheets themselves, I think that character posters are a great way of introducing unknowing audiences to the individual personalities of characters they may not already be familiar with. As one of those unknowing audience members, I’m not sure I know more about the characters after seeing these promos.

Check the posters out for yourself after the jump. Immortals hits 3D theaters later this year on November 11th.

New IMAX 3D Poster for TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON; Yet Another HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – PART 2 Poster

We have a couple of new posters to bring you this afternoon from two of the summer’s biggest releases: Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. As for the Transformers sheet, it features a none too pleased Optimus Prime who looks to be reminding/threatening moviegoers to check out the film in IMAX 3D (yay for box office inflation!). On the Harry Potter side of things, Warner Bros. seems intent on reassuring all of us of two things: 1) that the Potter franchise is indeed coming to a close and 2) that all of these new posters will inevitably stop as a result.

Hit the jump to check out the new posters. Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits theaters on June 29th while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 opens in 3D on July 15th.
