When Amy (Kirshner) mysteriously disappears, James (Stahl) must go to great lengths to find her, even if it means digging up the past or making new enemies in the present. Executive produced by writer/director Vincenzo Natali (Splice, Cube), 388 Arletta Avenue will be available on nationwide On Demand starting May 15th and with limited midnight theatrical releases starting May 18th. Here’s a trio of cable TV casting coming at you right now. First up, as if HBO’s outrageous comedy series Eastbound & Down needed to be anymore hilarious, Variety reports Saturday Night Live cast member and Going the Distance star Jason Sudeikis is getting a recurring role on the show. The comedian will play Shane, one of Kenny Powers’ (Danny McBride) new friends, likely back in Shelby, South Carolina since *SPOILER ALERT* he returned back home in the second season finale. I’m always happy to see Sudeikis show up in any comedy, so he’s definitely a welcome addition to the cast. For details on the new cast members for Game of Thrones and House of Lies, hit the jump

Though Fox ultimately decided to pass on the series adaptation of the graphic novel Locke & Key, audiences will still get a chance to see the pilot. Deadline reports IDW Publishing, the company behind the book, is hosting a special screening of the pilot complete with a panel discussion featuring creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, the pilot’s writer/executive producer Josh Friedman and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. However, the audience won’t be all that huge since the screening has been set in Room 8 (with the panel following in Room 9) on July 22nd at 10:30am. So if you’re desperate to see the fallen pilot, this might be your only chance. Of course, if fan reaction is big enough, perhaps the network will reconsider. For those just joining us, details on the story are after the jump.

The cast for the thriller Over the Wall is starting to fill out. Kim Basinger, Nick Stahl and Freddy Rodriguez are all attached to star in the film, with Jennifer Morrison in advanced negotiations to join them. Variety reports that Steven Christopher Young will make his feature directorial debut on the flick, which is being produced by Young and Larry Meistrich.
The love story takes place in the world of stock-car racing and tells the story of how a tragic accident rocks the lives of four people. Production is set to begin this summer in Ohio. The project is currently being shopped at Cannes.

Though his film career hasn’t exactly been stellar since his appearance in Sin City, perhaps Nick Stahl will find more success on TV. At least his chances seem better now since Deadline reports the actor has just landed a role in Fox’s pilot for the TV series adaptation of Locke & Key, a comic book from Joe Hill. The series was originally being developed for this summer, but instead will be held until the fall TV season.
The story follows Nina Locke (Miranda Otto) and her three children, Tyler, Kinsey (Sarah Bolger), and Bode. After the brutal murder of Nina’s husband Rendell Locke, the four return to Keyhouse, his old family home in Massachusetts. There, they are pestered by an evil entity named Dodge that’s determined to hold the family hostage one way or another until it gets what it wants. Stahl will play Rendell’s younger brother Duncan Locke, an art teacher who lives nearby and frequently visits Nina and the kids and strangely has few memories of his time growing up in Keyhouse. With Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci working with Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks TV, I’m very interested in seeing this project come together.

The seductive supernatural thriller Dead Awake is set against the backdrop of a mysterious tragedy that shattered the lives of three people a decade ago, and which sets them on a path to uncover the truth that lies between the living and the dead. When Dylan (Nick Stahl), a depressed assistant at a funeral parlor, decides to fake his own funeral to see who will show up, he ends up befriending a mysterious street junkie named Charlie (Rose McGowan) and is reunited with an old love from his past (Amy Smart), whom he abandoned 10 years prior. He then must confront his past and get the answers to an old mystery before he can proceed with the business of living his own life.
In this exclusive interview with Collider, actress Amy Smart talked about her desire to work with the film’s director Omar Naim, how much she enjoyed working with Nick Stahl and Rose McGowan, that psychological horror can often be much scarier than outright gore, how she would love to emulate the careers of Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet, and how she’s hoping to do another comedy soon. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

Shooting has begun on writer-director Randall Cole’s Hitchcockian thriller 388 Arletta Avenue
. Don’t be put off by the annoying smiley, the film is described as a “wickedly smart mystery-thriller” by executive producer Vincenzo Natali (Splice), which sees a slight change in direction for Cole, who usually helms comedies (he directed Real Time in 2008 and the disappointing rom-com 19 months in 2002). The film plays with ever present fears surrounding the use and abuse of technology, specifically CCTV, and details a scenario in which a deadly stalker is able to constantly spy on and manipulate a couple using hidden cameras. It’s not a particularly star studded cast, but then horrors never are. The film features Nick Stahl (Sin City), Mia Kirshner (Vampire Diaries) and Devon Sawa (Final Destination) and will be produced by Splice producer Steve Hoban, and Mark Smith (The Spine). Hit the jump for the full synopsis and more.

Mirrors 2 is one of those god-awful direct-to-DVD sequels that nobody ever asks for. It’s gory, violent, poorly written and inadequately structured. The cast consists of actors and actresses that aren’t quite glamorous enough for Hollywood, either in looks or performance, but somehow suited for this type of material. The special FX are cheesy, the pacing poor. Yet, for all of its initial shortcomings, Victor Garcia’s film is immediately watchable. Where else will you see a half-naked woman garishly rip the head from her own neck, entrails and all?
Movies like this work because they increase the disgusting factor tenfold in overtly imaginative ways. The gorish FX are cheap, but such only adds to the charm. People are beheaded, disemboweled, sliced; the opening scene features a security guard forced to swallow glass. The camera never shies away from the madness because, well, it doesn’t have to. This is low-grade horror to the highest degree – I won’t call it great, or even good, but it leaves an impression.

Last year, we brought you loads of coverage from AFM (American Film Market). AFM is where buyers and sellers do business to bring you the films you might be seeing in the near future. They use artwork and synopses which are used for promotional purposes but which we use to bring you news on these films. With this year’s AFM gearing up, we have artwork and synopsis on four upcoming movies: On the Inside starring Nick Stahl and Olivia Wilde; The Witches of Oz (which is actually a mini-series) starring Christopher Lloyd, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Lance Henriksen; The Eagle Path written, produced, directed by, and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme; and Bridge to Nowhere starring Ving Rhames, Danny Masterson, and Bijou Phillipps, and directed by Blair Underwood.
Hit the jump for artwork and synopses for these films plus a trailer for Bridge to Nowhere. Look for a lot more AFM coverage soon.

Last night I covered the special “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” screening at Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. While there I was able to interview tons of the cast on the red carpet and the interview you’re about to watch is with the beautiful Rachel Nichols.
During our interview she talked about being in “Star Trek” this summer, the promotional tour for “G.I. Joe”, her next film “Meskada” with Nick Stahl, and she continued Marlon Wayans conversation about Japanese bathrooms. Seriously. Of course we talked about other subjects; those are just some of the highlights. Take a look after the jump:
