At last week’s Saturn Awards, I managed to interview writer-director Rod Lurie backstage after he won the award for Best DVD Release.  While many of you might have missed his movie, Nothing But the Truth, which starred Kate Beckinsale and Vera Farmiga, it’s a fantastic film with amazing performances.  While it might be a bit out of place at the Saturn Awards as it’s not geeky or sci-fi, I’m happy he won for this very overlooked film.

Anyway, after talking for awhile about Nothing But the Truth, we eventually got to what’s going on with his remake of Straw Dogs.  He talked about editing the film, the violence, what can people expect, and I asked him when will a trailer or poster be released.  He went on to tell me the film features a 25 minute action scene at the end of the film and it’s a hard R.  We also talked about the TV show he’s developing with Kevin Spacey as a cult leader and what else he’s working on.  Hit the jump to watch the interview:

Bob Hope Thanks for the Memories Collection DVD slice

The Bob Hope “Thanks for the Memories” collection features six Hope films made in the 1930s and 1940s.  Three of the films, Thanks for the Memory, The Cat and the Canary, and Nothing but the Truth are making their DVD debuts.  While the six films are not Hope’s BEST six films, they all are very good and the set features a nice array of extras.  My full reviews after the jump:

When you sit down to do an on camera interview, you never know what’s going to happen. You can walk in with great questions and leave with the worst interview. Or, sometimes, you can get a fantastic interview when you least expect it. And that’s what happened when I sat down with Kate Beckinsale for her new movie “Whiteout”. For some reason, I got a lot of extra time with her, so not only did we talk about making “Whiteout”, we also talked about her last film “Nothing But the Truth”, “The Last Days of Disco”, “Underworld”, and a lot more. It’s a great interview that’s absolutely worth watching. Take a look after the jump:
