Here are two cool things: Transformers and ice sculptures. Completely unrelated, but you would be totally justified if Transformers and ice sculptures were your two favorite things. So justified, in fact, the odds dictate that one of you reading in this adores Transformers and worships at the feet of giant ice sculptures. I am about to make your day, hypothetical reader.
You’ve probably already connected the dots, but artists Antti Pedrozo and Michel de Kok have carved a large, icy Optimus Prime. After eyeballing how the statue towers over its human creators, I’d say it’s at least fifteen feet tall. The cinematic Optimus hits theaters again on July 1, 2011 in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, but you can check out pictures of his frozen counterpart now after the jump.

If you didn’t see the The Late Show with David Letterman the other night, you missed a very unusual Top Ten. That’s because Dave had Optimus Prime doing the “Top Ten Things That Sound Cool When Spoken By A Giant Robot.” While I won’t say all ten were funny, the first 5 or 6 were. Take a look at the clip after the jump:
If you’re an old school “Transformers” fan, you know the names Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. That’s because Peter Cullen is the voice of Optimus Prime, and Frank Welker is the original voice of Megatron. But even though you might be an old school fan, I’m sure many of you have never seen what they look like and have never seen them record their dialogue.
So when Activision sent over a short video showing these two recoding their lines for the new “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” video game, I figured it was worth posting. Also, you can see them talk about the advances in video game technology. It’s kind of funny…
Take a look after the jump.
Paramount/DreamWorks has just given us an exclusive image from director Michael Bay’s upcoming blockbuster “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen”. As you can see, it shows Optimus either getting ready to battle someone with sword in hand, or he’s just defeated someone. Either way, it looks awesome.
But I’m biased. I thought the first “Transformers” movie was incredible, and I think Michael Bay was born to helm these movies. Mo matter what you think of the guy, he knows how to film action. And what better franchise is there than giant f*cking robots punching each other.
While this summer has been filled with great movies, the end of June brings up “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen”. And I can’t wait.
And one last thing, while movie studios have been embracing the online world with more and more viral campaigns, I think “Revenge of the Fallen” is going to be the first one that uses the movie to help promote the campaign. If you saw the recent trailer, the back of Shia’s shirt has a website url on it and it’s for an actual site – therealeffingdeal.com
On top of that one, gianteffingrobots.com has also launched and according to movieviral.com, the site is run by Jon Turturro’s character in the movie. While I usually don’t care about viral stuff, I think the angle they’re taking with this one is kind of cool. If you’re into viral campaigns, you might want to take a look.
