In what was surely one of the biggest premieres of all time, Disneyland was shut down on Saturday, May 7th so that the entire cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, including the monkey, could turn out to greet fans and sign autographs. Thousands of park guests showed up starting at midnight to see all of the special guests at the first-ever outdoor film premiere in 3D, which was also a benefit for Boys & Girls Club of America.
Joining Mickey Mouse himself were cast members Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz , Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Sam Claflin, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Kevin McNally, Óscar Jaenada, Greg Ellis, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, various mermaids and zombies, director Rob Marshall, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, composer Hans Zimmer, book author Tim Powers and Disney Chairman Bob Iger. Other celebs who made appearances on the black carpet were Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jodie Foster, Desperate Housewives co-stars Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria, Eliza Dushku with boyfriend Rick Fox, Kirstie Alley with Dancing with the Stars partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Martin Short, rocker Steven Tyler, Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, Emma Roberts, Andy Garcia, Karl Urban and Steven R. McQueen of The Vampire Diaries, among others. Check out all of the exclusive photos after the jump:

The action genre has mutated quite a bit over the last couple years, as we have few figures like Sylvester Stallone in the recent generation of actors. Vin Diesel seems more like a right place right time guy than an actual star, and actual stars like Tom Cruise in Knight and Day no longer seem to excite the masses. Of course there are exceptions: The Bourne Identity fits more in the classic mold, but does anyone think of Matt Damon in the same category as Arnold Schwarzenegger, or – for that matter – Charles Bronson? In 2010, we’ve seen a number of straight action films, but few have connected with the mainstream, and the actors who look like they might be the next star of those sorts of movies don’t connect. Liam Neeson or Bradley Cooper in The A-Team, and Angelina Jolie Salt have had so-so grosses, while The Losers got lost in April. But Jeffrey Dean Morgan seems built for the genre. Weathered but capable, bemused, Morgan has both the physicality and personality to be an action star, and he gets to play off of Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba, and Chris Evans in a classic “Men on a Mission” narrative. Sadly, The Losers isn’t the film that did that for him and my review of the Blu-ray follows after the jump.

Usually, I like to take my time in writing a movie review so I can let the film simmer for a bit and give it a bit of thought. I had to rush home to write this review of The Losers because I started forgetting the movie almost as soon as I left the theater. That’s the film’s intent: easily digestible entertainment. It’s a cookie-cutter action film filled with explosions, wise-cracks, and hot sex between the male and female lead. Thanks to the individual performances of the cast, The Losers rarely feels soulless, but due to the lack of chemistry between the actors, The Losers also never comes together to make a more lasting impression.

Warner Bros. has released 7 clips from director Sylvain White’s The Losers, which stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoë Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Oscar Jaenada, and Jason Patric. The clips feature all the actors as well as a lot of action.
I caught a screening the other day and the movie was better than I expected. While it’s a tight 90 something minutes, all the actors have their moments and it’s got plenty of action and humor. But while everyone was pretty good, Jason Patric was awesome as Max. He plays the guy who set up The Losers. Another surprise…Chris Evans. He’s steals a few scenes and had the theater laughing out loud.
Hit the jump for the clips. The Losers gets released April 23.

Warner Bros. has released a ton of new images from director Sylvain White’s The Losers, which stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoë Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Oscar Jaenada and Jason Patric. The reason the images were released today is the press junket is this weekend in Los Angeles, which means we’re also going to get a lot of clips from the film soon.
I’m catching a screening tonight and interviewing the cast this weekend, so expect a lot of Losers coverage in the coming days. If I can, look for a tweet reaction after the screening tonight. Until then, hit the jump to check out 36 high resolution images from the film:

You want to know why Chris Evans is always going to be cool in my book? Because when I was on the set of The Losers in Puerto Rico last June, when it was incredibly hot and humid, Evans had the five online journalists in attendance come into his trailer to do his interview, as he had air conditioning and was willing to share it. Trust me, I’ve done a lot of on set interviews in some sketchy areas, and no other actor has ever opened his door like Chris Evans.
Anyway, during our extended interview with Evans, he talked about how he plays a computer expert named Jensen and if he’s anything like him, did he debate playing another comic book based character, 80′s movies, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, his career, Fantastic Four, and so much more. It’s a great interview so take a look:

If you’re a fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in comic book movies and nervous that after playing the Edward Blake / The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and Clay in director Sylvain White’s The Losers he might stay away from another comic book role, you don’t have to worry, as Morgan says, “I’m happy to be in this world. I’m loving it. I love this. I could do comic book movies forever.”
He told me that – along with a few other online journalists – when I saw on the set of The Losers last June in Puerto Rico. While Morgan was in almost every scene that day and was also busy preparing for other scenes, he could not have been nicer on set as he came back over to us four different times as he kept getting pulled away for filming. Trust me, most actors would come over once…maybe twice. But no one comes back four times.
During our extended interview Morgan talked about everything: from who he plays in The Losers to how he saved a dog in Puerto Rico. Did I mention how awesome Morgan is? If you’re a fan of his work or just curious about The Losers, you’ll love the interview. Read or listen to it after the jump:

Back in September of 2009, I was invited – along with four other online journalists – to the set of director Sylvain White’s The Losers when the movie was being shot in hot and humid Puerto Rico. While extreme heat and humidity can play havoc with a film shoot, when we got to speak with White, he was still excited and really enthusiastic about how things had been going. During our interview we talked about how he came to the project, why he wanted The Losers to be PG-13 and not R, how he tried to take elements of the graphic novel for the movie, how Peter Berg did the script, and a lot more. It’s a really good and informative interview so read or listen to it after the jump:

Back in September of 2009, I was invited – along with four other online journalists – to the set of director Sylvain White’s The Losers when the movie was being shot in hot and humid Puerto Rico. While I’ve covered many movies while working for Collider, this was the first time visiting a movie set could actually cost me a lot of money. The reason? The location was a secure Port that was guarded by Homeland Security. Each of us had to wear a special badge given to us by the government and we were warned if we lost it…we’d have to pay $10,000 dollars. Needless to say, I watched my badge like a hawk.
If you haven’t heard of The Losers, the movie stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoë Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Óscar Jaenada, and Jason Patric and it’s written by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt. The film is based on the Vertigo comic series by Andy Diggle and Jock.
While I hate making comparisons, The Losers reminds me a lot of The A-Team, except rather than helping those who can’t help themselves, The Losers are out to clear their names and get revenge on the one who betrayed them. Simply put…it’s an action thriller that should be a lot of fun.

With director Sylvain White’s The Loser’s scheduled for release on April 9, I’ve been wondering where the first trailer is for the action flick starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Jason Patrick, Oscar Jaenada, Columbus Short and Zoe Saldana. And thanks to ET, the wait is over, as they’ve posted a sneak peek at the trailer which they’ll be premiering tonight.
For those not familiar, The Losers is based on a comic book and you wouldn’t be far off to compare it to The A-Team as it features a group of U.S. Special Forces that were betrayed and they decide to get some revenge. Also, with a script by Peter Berg, you’ve got to be at least a little curious. Hit the jump to check out the footage. I think the movie looks like it’ll be a lot of fun.

The first two official images and the synopsis from Sylvain White’s The Losers have hit the web. Both images are typical first look shots in that they don’t tell you anything about the movie except show you what actors are in it. While I hate boring images like these, I understand launching with them and then getting to the action shots as it gets closer to release.
If you’re not familiar with the movie, the film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Jason Patric, Óscar Jaenada, Idris Elba, Zoë Saldana and Columbus Short. It’s based on the comic by Andy Diggle and Jock. Here’s the just released synopsis:

Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.
Check out the images after the jump. We’ll have a lot more on this film as it gets closer to release:

Zoe Saldana is on a hot streak right now and it isn’t just because she’s hot. Hot off her victory as Uhura in “Star Trek”, Saldana still has “Avatar” at the end of the year, “Star Trek II” in her future, and in April 2010 she’ll be in the adaptation of the Vertigo comic series, “The Losers”. Saldana plays Aisha, “a mysterious South American hellion,” who joins forces with a burned CIA team (comprised of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, and Oscar Jaenada) to take down a common enemy played by Jason Patric. The first set photo of Saldana has just landed online so that’s why she’s smiling instead of being in character and scowling like her comic-counterpart. Check out the photo after the jump and click here to see a photo of the burned CIA team where Jeffrey Dean Morgan forgot to wear his wife-beater.

Thanks to Idris Elba’s Twitter account, the first image from director Sylvain White’s “The Losers” has hit the web. As you can see, the image shows Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, Oscar Jaenada, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the set somewhere in Puerto Rico.
