In the past, I’ve been less than enthusiastic about Let Me In, a remake/re-adaptation of the Swedish horror film Let the Right One In.  It just seemed like a story completely ill-suited to an American adaptation, and in retrospect, I think that I shortchanged that story by taking that view.  As director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) pointed out in today’s panel for the film, this is a story about the pain of adolescence and that transcends location.  And while the recently released trailer didn’t move me one way or another, I can say that after today’s panel and the footage they showed, I’m beginning to become enthusiastic.

When you’ve been the number one movie in America and you got there with clever marketing, it was only a matter of time before another movie studio would take aim with a spoof ad.  And that’s exactly what Overture Films has done for “The Men Who Stare At Goats”.  They’ve taken the thirty second “Paranormal Activity” TV commercial and added goats.  Take a look at the spoof after the jump:

From the exciting world of movie distribution deals comes news that the latest films from directors Steven Soderbergh and Antoine Fuqua will both find their audiences.  Fuqua’s already completed “Brooklyn’s Finest” will go out via Overture after an earlier deal for domestic distribution fell through.  Meanwhile Steven Soderbergh’s “Knockout”, which begins shooting next January, has caught the interest of Lionsgate, the proud studio behind  this week’s number one film “I Can Do Bad All By Myself.”  More after the jump.
