Despite admitting that he had “gotten into trouble” and was now “sworn to secrecy,” Ethan Hawke confirmed that he and his longtime collaborator Richard Linklater would be shooting a follow-up to their critically acclaimed films Before Sunrise and Before Sunset this summer.

Almost ten years passed between the first two films, and we are quickly approaching almost a decade since the last. Though not much else is known about the next installment to this now-trilogy, Linklater and Hawke’s interest in the passage of time is without question.  The two have also been working on The 12-Year Project, literally filming a mere one vignette a year. For more on that project, the Sunset sequel and Hawke’s other recent projects, hit the jump.

Trailer and Poster for THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH Starring Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas

ATO Pictures have released the trailer and poster for the thriller The Woman in the Fifth.  The movie stars Ethan Hawke as a struggling writer who moves to Paris so he can be closer to his young daughter, but then strikes up an romantic entanglement with a mysterious femme fatale (Kristin Scott Thomas).  I’m not exactly sure what to make the of the film since the trailer doesn’t do a good job of lining up with the interesting plot synopsis, but it does do a good job of showing off some of writer-director Pawel Pawlikowski‘s cool visuals.  I never heard much buzz—positive or negative—on the movie at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, so maybe it’s just flown under the radar, and hopefully The Woman in the Fifth will live up to its premise.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and poster.  The Woman in the Fifth opens June 15th.

Screen Daily has a report on a couple of flicks Memento Films is bringing to this year’s Berlin Film Festival.  First up is The Woman in the Fifth, a supernatural thriller from Pawel Pawlikowski (My Summer of Love) starring Ethan Hawke and Kristen Scott Thomas.  The film is based on Douglas Kennedy’s novel about an American writer (Hawke) in Paris who embarks on an affair with an elegant and mysterious widow and who might have something to do with the murders that start taking place around him.  Might have something to do?  Elegant and mysterious widows are always responsible for surrounding murders.  Everyone knows that.

Hit the jump for news about Hello Darkness which is another  ANOTHER vampire film.  Oh goodie.
