Peter Dinklage

Justin Long is gearing up to stretch his filmmaking chops behind the camera. Long wrote and will produce the indie A Case of You, which he will also star in alongside Evan Rachel Wood and Peter Dinklage. Variety reports that the story centers on “a young writer who tries to impress a girl he meets online with an embellished profile, but finds himself in a real mess when she falls for him and he has to keep up the act.” While the logline seems a bit “teen comedy”, I’m encouraged by the cast and, ultimately, Long’s involvement. He’s been a standout in a large number of films over the past few years and I’m interested to see something that comes straight from his creative voice. Also, Dinklage rules. Neither Wood nor Long have anything (officially) on the immediate horizon, but Dinklage can be seen in the second season of Game of Thrones starting April 1st on HBO. He returns to film season three later this summer.

The second season of Game of Thrones is a little over two months away, and a new trailer has gone online.  If you thought the wait for season two was painful already, you’re going to be in agony after you see this trailer.  It’s all new footage, it sets up some key relationships, hints where the plot is going (for people who haven’t read the novels), and when Arya says “Anyone can be killed,” it’s basically the ethos for the entire series.  It’s also not a bad marketing strategy to make Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) the focus of the trailer.

Hit the jump to check out the new trailer.  The new season of Game of Thrones premieres April 1st on HBO.

I’ve just spent the past three hours watching and live-blogging the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.  My brain feels mushy.  After the jump and presented without comment is a list of this year’s winners. If you don’t even want to hit the jump, The Artist and The Descendants won Best Comedy/Musical and Best Drama, respectively.  If you want to awards prognosticate, I’ll save you the trouble: both were nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.  Those nominations haven’t been announced yet, but they were nominated.  Trust me.  I’m a professional.

Also, feel free to sound off on the winners and losers.  Lord knows I’ve been doing it for the past three hours.

The nominations for the 2011 Primetime Emmys have been announced.  HBO, as always, led the pack as the miniseries Mildred Pierce picked up 21 nominations, Boardwalk Empire picked up 18 nominations, and Game of Thrones nabbed 13 nominations.  Also, as usual, Mad Men held the most nominations of any dramatic series by picking up 19 nods.  The Emmys also once again overlooked Community in favor of garbage like Glee, but they also finally showed Parks and Recreation some love.  It’s also cool that Louis C.K. (Louie), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), and Walton Goggins (Justified) picked up nominations, but overlooking Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) was just one of the many snubs that the Emmys have become known for.

Hit the jump to check out the full list of nominees.  Winners will be announced Sunday, September 18th at 8/7c on Fox.

We just recently found out the nominees for the first Critics Choice Television Awards, but now we have the list of fantastic shows and talents which have been nominated for the long-running Television Critics’ Association awards. This year the 27th annual awards nominees prove that the TCA just knows what they’re talking about when it comes to quality television, even moreso than the primtetime Emmys. THR unveiled the list with Game of Thrones, Justified and Parks and Recreation leading the pack with four nominations each including love for those series’ cast members like Peter Dinklage, Timothy Olyphant and Amy Poehler. Once again it’s also great to see Community and Louie get some respect along with respective cast members Danny Pudi and Louis C.K. also receiving nominations. Watch the First 14-Minutes of HBO’s Epic Series GAME OF THRONES

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: April 4th, 2011 at 8:57 am

We’re just two weeks away from the premiere of the new HBO series Game of Thrones, and while we’ve seen several different trailers for the fantasy drama, the cable network has decided a more lengthy preview is in order. Last night HBO premiered the first 14 minutes from the first episode in the series, and damn does it look exquisite. Based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire the sprawling tale set in the mythical land of Westeros tells the story of the noble Stark family who become caught up in high court intrigue when patriarch Eddard (played by Sean Bean) becomes the king’s new right-hand man. The cast also includes Mark Addy, Lena Headey, Harry Lloyd, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jennifer Ehle and Peter Dinklage. Check out the extended preview below and stay tuned for our advanced review of the first few episodes sometime soon.

We’ve already seen a few different trailers for HBO’s epic new fantasy series Game of Thrones, but the cable network has released yet another one. This one is much more like a movie trailer than the previous trailers and it continues to get my excited to check out this series when it finally hits the network on April 17th.

New Preview for HBO’s GAME OF THRONES: “Invitation to Westeros”

by Matt Goldberg    Posted: February 23rd, 2011 at 7:59 am

HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones is promising to be unlike anything else on TV.  While there have been TV shows that take place in a fantasy realm, Thrones looks like it will have a scope far beyond sword-fighting in a forest and not using contractions.  HBO has released a new preview of the show that takes a look at the setting and the various lands and environs the characters inhabit.  After watching this preview, I couldn’t help but wonder how this information will be introduced organically into the show.

Hit the jump to check out the preview.  Game of Thrones stars Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Mark Addy, Kit Harrington, and Tamzin Merchant.  The series premieres April 17th.

Peter Dinklage and Writer/Director Alexandre Rockwell Video Interview PETE SMALLS IS DEAD

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: January 23rd, 2011 at 3:24 pm

With Sundance and Slamdance in full swing in Park City, I got to sit down with Peter Dinklage and writer-director Alexandre Rockwell for their new movie Pete Smalls is Dead.  If you saw the trailer, you know it’s got an all star cast featuring Dinklage, Mark Boone Junior, Tim Roth, Michael Lerner, Seymour Cassel, Theresa Wayman, and Rosie Perez.  In the film, Dinklage plays a former screenwriter turned downtrodden East Coast Laundromat owner who finds himself back in Los Angeles after his dog is kidnapped by loan sharks.  He begrudgingly comes to L.A. as he’s been promised the money to get his dog back, but his friend has an ulterior motive.

Pete Smalls is a noir that’s loaded with “strange situations and crazy characters.  From dealings with idiot producers (Buscemi, Lerner) and the Armenian mob (headed by Cassel), to romancing with a beautiful French editor (Wayman) and conducting a lab heist—in pizza-delivery panda costumes.”  While I wasn’t sure what to expect, Dinklage is fantastic and I really enjoyed the movie.  Anyway, during the interview, Dinklage and Rockwell explained what the film is about, how they got the great cast, the pros and cons of the Festival, the collaborations between actors and directors, and so much more.  Hit the jump to watch:

New Trailer for HBO’s Upcoming Fantasy Series GAME OF THRONES

by Ethan Anderton    Posted: January 17th, 2011 at 9:07 am

We’ve already seen a pretty spectacular trailer for the anticipated HBO series Game of Thrones, the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. Now that we finally know the series will premiere on April 17th, the spring can’t get here soon enough. Well over the weekend HBO released a new trailer for their epic drama, and while it doesn’t showcase any footage from the series, this stylized promo highlights each of the main characters with some ominous voiceover. The last whisper before the title reveal is especially powerful. Don’t forget to check out our recent interview with series star Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings) and see the new trailer for yourself after the jump.  Click here for more of our coverage of Game of Thrones.

PETE SMALL IS DEAD Trailer; Stars Peter Dinklage, Steve Buscemi and Tim Roth

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: January 14th, 2011 at 7:18 pm

With Sundance and Slamdance starting next week in Utah, we’re about to get bombarded with a ton of images, trailers and reviews for tons of movies you’ve never heard of.  If you’ve been reading Collider for the past few years, you know I usually cover Sundance alone.  However, Matt Goldberg will be traveling with me to the Festival, so this year should be the best in terms of our coverage.  He’s going to be writing most of the reviews, and I’ll be conducting all the interviews.

Anyway, one of the many films playing at Slamdance is director Alexandre Rockwell’s Pete Small is Dead.  While the film hadn’t been on my radar, after seeing an image of Steve Buscemi with that blond wig and watching the crazy trailer, I’m definitely curious.  Also, with a cast featuring Peter Dinklage, Mark Boone Junior, Tim Roth, Michael Lerner, Seymour Cassel, Theresa Wayman, and Rosie Perez, how can I not want to see it.  For the synopsis and trailer, hit the jump:
