THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Part 2 Gets Released November 16, 2012

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: August 3rd, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Summit Entertainment has just announced The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will get released on November 16, 2012.  While the studio had previously announced Breaking Dawn would be two movies, no release date had been set for part two.  For fans of the Twilight franchise, a fall 2012 release date means you’ll be waiting a full year to see the conclusion of the Twilight franchise as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 gets released on November 18, 2011.

While I’m sure some fans were hoping for a summer release for part two, this makes a lot more business sense.  By releasing in the fall, the studio will have plenty of time to use the home video window to sell DVD’s and Blu-rays and they’ll also most likely use Comic-Con 2012 as another opportunity to promote the franchise.

To the deafening screams of thousands of fans (most of whom were female, naturally) that had camped out for four days, the stars of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse stepped out at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, June 24th for the film’s highly anticipated premiere, which was part of the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Also in attendance were director David Slade, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, the film’s producers, some of the soundtrack artists (The Bravery, Metric, Eastern Conference Champions) and the woman responsible for it all, author Stephenie Meyer.  Check out the exclusive photos after the jump:

Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz and Julia Jones Press Conference THE TWILIGHT SAGA ECLIPSE slice

As most of you know, last week was the big press junket for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse here in Los Angeles.  In case you missed our previous coverage, here’s video and complete transcripts of the Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and The Cullen (Peter Facinelli, Liz Reaser, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene) press conferences.  While you may have thought we were done posting coverage, I’ve still got a few one on one video interviews left to post but I’m saving those till closer to release.  Or maybe tomorrow…I’m still deciding when.

But until those interviews get online, I’ve got another press conference and this one is with Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz and Julia Jones.  In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Spencer and Meraz are part of the Wolf Pack and Jones plays Leah Clearwater.  During the press conference they all talked about what it’s like getting involved in the franchise, how they got cast, what making the film was really like and so much more.  Like we’ve done for the previous coverage, you can either watch the video of the press conference or read a transcript after the jump:

The Twilight Saga Eclipse movie poster final slice

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse getting ready to hit theaters on June 30, Summit Entertainment has released an EPK for the media to use.  If you’re not familiar with the term EPK, it stands for Electronic Press Kit.  An EPK is where the studio puts movie clips, trailers, generic interviews and behind the scenes footage from whatever movie they’re promoting.  With demand for everything Twilight, I figured some of you might like to see the B-Roll and on set interviews with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Stephenie Meyer, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ashley Greene.

Also, this weekend is the big Twilight press junket here in Los Angeles and I’m going to attend the press conferences and I’ve also landed some 1:1 interviews.  Look for a lot more Twilight coverage in the coming days…

by Brendan Bettinger    Posted: June 10th, 2010 at 6:43 pm

It’s long been rumored, even assumed, that Summit would separate the final chapter of their vampire franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, into two parts — it’s finally official by way of press release.  Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Kellan Lutz are all set to reprise their roles in the fourth and fifth Twilight films.  Bill Condon  (Dreamgirls) will direct both parts, with production set to commence this fall.  The first Breaking Dawn film is set for release on November 18, 2011, while The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits theaters on June 30, 2010.  Hit the jump for the official press release.

With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse junket this weekend here in Los Angeles, Summit Entertainment has released seven clips from the movie and 33 high resolution images from the David Slade directed film.  The other big news I’m happy to report is Summit is going to let reporters film the print portion of the junket, which means instead of having to read what Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson says about Eclipse, you’ll be able to watch the video.  I’m doing interviews this Saturday, so you can expect tons of Twilight news later that day.

Hit the jump for the clips, images, and more details on the junket.

Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, and Billy Burke Sign on to BREAKING DAWN; Plus Three New TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE Posters

by Steve 'Frosty' Weintraub    Posted: May 19th, 2010 at 3:44 pm

Summit Entertainment has just sent out a press release announcing The Cullen Family (Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, and Nikki Reed) have signed on for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and they’ll be joining Billy Burke as Charlie Swan.  What I find interesting about the press release is the lack of any mention of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and Breaking Dawn.

What this tells me is Summit made deals with all the minor characters in the Twilight franchise and now they’re moving onto the major players.  Also, the press release makes no mention of whether or not Breaking Dawn will be one or two movies, but I think we all know it’s going to be two.

Hit the jump for the press release and check out three new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie posters.

High Resolution DVD/Blu-ray Cover Art from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON – Plus What Extras Are Included

Summit Entertainment has just announced The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be arriving on home video March 20, 2010. The release will feature a six part behind the scenes documentary, music videos, and an audio commentary by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert.

What’s interesting about this announcement is back when the movie was getting ready to come out, director Chris Weitz told me he was going to include ten minutes of deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu-ray.  If I was a betting man, I would wager Summit decided to hold the deleted scenes either for an eventual theatrical re-release, or for the ultimate box set that will be released after all the films have been made.  After all, you need to offer the fans something they don’t already have and deleted scenes are a perfect way of doing that.  Of course I don’t have any proof…but considering he said they’d be included, it makes a lot of sense.  Hit the jump for high-resolution cover art of the Blu-ray and the press release:

Peter Facinelli Interview; Talks about ECLIPSE, BREAKING DAWN, and NURSE JACKIE

Although Peter Facinelli was at the current Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter Press Tour to promote the upcoming second season of his hit Showtime series, Nurse Jackie (premiering on March 22nd) following the panel presentation, talk immediately turned to his other role, as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, in the Twilight Saga films.

The Cullen patriarch talked about his larger role in Eclipse, which is his favorite book in the series, filming in Vancouver while also working on “Nurse Jackie” in New York, and how he’ll probably learn the status of Breaking Dawn on the internet before he gets the phone call about it from the studio. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Three new movie posters have been released for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and they feature the Cullens, the Volturi, and the Wolf Pack. Since I haven’t read the books, I can’t say if the actors portraying the characters look the part, but I did recently see the trailer for “New Moon” and have to say…it looked a hell of a lot better than the first film. Who knows, maybe director Chris Weitz actually made the “Twilight” film the fans have been dreaming about. We will all know soon enough as “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” hits theaters November 20th. Take a look at the new posters after the jump.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON Meet Jacob Black Trailer + New Synopsis

Summit Entertainment has just released a featurette for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” called ‘Meet Jacob Black’. If you’ve been waiting to see more footage of Taylor Lautner (Jacob) without his shirt on, you’ve come to the right place. The company that “Twilight” built has also released an updated synopsis for “New Moon” and that’s after the jump. While I still don’t understand the “Twilight” phenomenon, who am I to judge. I used to love “Star Wars”. Look where that got me.
