A few days ago I sat down with producer John Davis for an extended interview. While the main purpose of our sit down was to talk about his new family film, Mr. Popper’s Penguins, starring Jim Carrey, we also covered his early career, his thoughts on VOD, his relationship with Eddie Murphy, what he has coming up, and many other subjects. Since the conversation was so wide ranging, I’m breaking it up into smaller parts, like I did with my interviews with producers Dan Lin and Neal Moritz.
While I debated what to post first, I’m going with Predator. Davis served as a producer on every Predator film including the two Alien vs. Predator movies. As a big fan of what producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal did last year on Predators, I was curious if we’d get a sequel, and what was up with the franchise. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like anything is happening right now. However, I did learn that Schwarzenegger almost did Predator 2 and the deal broke down over $250,000. Hit the jump for more.

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’re aware that San Diego Comic Con is about two weeks away. The best part about this geek nirvana is no matter what your poison, comics, art, television, video games, movies, etc., there’s something for everyone. One of the specific niches that Comic Con is best known for is limited edition collectibles. Each year, seemingly every booth creates a batch of merchandise that will only ever be sold for those magical four days in San Diego.
The official Comic Con website recently put up the “full” list of exclusives (we say “full” because things will continue to be added to the list) and it’s pretty huge. So we went through and picked out the ten that we feel Collider readers might find most appealing, or could make for the best investment after July 22-25. Hit the jump for the list as well as tips on purchasing them.

On one hand it’s great Fox has been releasing their catalog titles in 1080p and in DTS looking great. On the other hand, they haven’t put in that much work to jazz it up for audiences buying it a second time. None of the films here have anything new, but all look appreciably better in their Blu-ray iterations. After the jump are my reviews of “Predator 2″, “Fargo” and “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” on Blu-ray.
