The 2011 Oscar race will finally be over this Sunday night, but winners need to know the proper way to accept the award. To this end, Funny or Die has produced a promo on behalf of the Academy Awards starring Oscar-winner Kevin Kline (Best Supporting Actor for A Fish Called Wanda) and Sir Cecil Worthington (Mike Myers). The sketch is meant to poke fun at the importance of the statue, but Worthington is really more of a reminder of the Academy’s largest voting block: old white men who have never won an Oscar.
Hit the jump to check out the promo. The 84th Academy Awards air live this Sunday on ABC at 7pm EST.

The third season premiere of Glee is just around the corner, and now we have an upbeat new promo complete with a satisfying glitter bomb, an upbeat cover of The Go-Go’s song We Got the Beat and a rocking new look for Quinn. Also fans eagerly awaiting the union of Mr. Schuester and Emma get a special treat in the promo too. As inconsistent as the quality of writing is on the show, it’s the music and Jane Lynch that keeps me coming back for more musical craziness on Fox. The third season premieres on Tuesday, September 20th but you can check out the new promo after the jump.

Though Lisa Edelstein may not be returning as Dr. Cuddy for the eighth and presumably final season of House M.D., it looks like the consequences of the epic end of her relationship with Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) will be in full force. Fox has just released a new promo for the coming season, and it looks like House will be taking some serious punishment from the law and from those who have broken it. And I don’t want to spoil it, but that tagline for the season premiere is pretty damn good. You’ll see what I mean after you check out this short but sweet promo after the jump.

It’s still a long way until fall, but Showtime has already started running promos for the sixth season of Dexter. The promo doesn’t have any new footage and it provides more of a recap of previous seasons. What’s interesting is what it chooses to recap: single antagonists. Last season marked a departure for the show as it took the focus off Dexter learning a valuable lesson from a big bad and instead developed a strong relationship with a new, not-evil character. However, judging solely by this new promo, it’s possible that season six will be a return to form for America’s favorite serial killer.
Hit the jump to check out the promo. No official premiere date has been announced for season six, but with the exception of the first season, every season of Dexter has premiered at the end of September.

Last month we got our first look at the intriguing new sci-fi series Terra Nova from Steven Spielberg. Now Fox has released another short promo which gives us some dinosaur action. Though the glimpse at everyone’s favorite prehistoric creatures is very brief, I have to admit that I wasn’t too impressed. As a matter of fact, the more I see from the series, the less excited I am. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still interested in checking out the sneak preview this May and the official premiere in the fall, but as of now, I haven’t been blown away yet. Hit the jump to check out the promo.

New images have surfaced for two hotly anticipated projects set to be released next year. Paul is a sci-fi road comedy helmed by Superbad director Greg Mottola and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead). Empire has released the pictures from the film, which centers on two British comic-book geeks who set out to travel across the U.S. and stumble upon an alien from Area 51. The star-studded cast includes Seth Rogen as the voice of Paul the alien, as well as Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver, Kristin Wiig, Jane Lynch, Bill Hader, Jeffery Tambor and Blythe Danner.
The Smurfs is, of course, the feature film based upon the pint-sized blue creatures from the comic and television series of the same name. Directed by Raja Gosnell (Scooby-Doo), the film stars Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays (Glee), and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), and includes the voice talent of Katy Perry, Fred Armisen, Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman), BJ Novak (The Office), and Alan Cumming (X2). Hit the jump to get a look at the pictures, as well as a bit more info on the projects. If you haven’t yet, check out Steve’s visit to the set of Paul from earlier this year. Paul will be released on March 18th, 2011, and The Smurfs invades your local cinema in 3D on August 3rd, 2011.

Though the fall TV season is going into full force this week, there’s still shows on the horizon that won’t be showing up for a view months. Enter FX’s new drama series Lights Out starring Holy McCallany as an aging former heavyweight boxing champion as he looks to find himself and support his family without getting back into the ring. The first promo for the series, which starts in January 2011, has just showed up online and it definitely looks like more solid programming from FX. Check out the video after the jump along with the official synopsis of the show.

As the second season of Glee gets closer, the hype machine is fully underway. Fox has just released an all-new promo with bits and pieces of the drama, music and excitement that we can expect from the forthcoming season. We already know about guest appearances from Carol Burnett, Javier Bardem, and Britney Spears (complete with an entire episode dedicated to her music), and there’s sure to be plenty more surprises down the road. After the jump check out the short promo which makes use of the Glee cast’s rendition of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys hit song Empire State of Mind. Keep in mind though that if you haven’t finished the first season, there’s some spoilers to be found. The second season premiere of Glee hits Fox on September 21st.

After telling Tom Cruise to drop the pants in Risky Business, Tropic Thunder‘s mega-mogul Les Grossman (Tom Cruise) has some grooming advice for Twilight star Robert Pattinson. I rarely say that I “laughed out loud”, but there’s a punchline at the end that made me laugh out loud. Hit the jump to check out the promo.
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards air on Sunday, June 6th at 9/8c. Comedian Aziz Ansari (Funny People) will host. [UPDATE - There's now a promo featuring fellow Twilight star Taylor Lautner. Not quite as funny, but still worth a look]

I’ve been waiting for this to go online for almost a year. A promo for Toy Story 3, “Groovin’ with Ken” was shown at last year’s Comic-Con and the audience (myself included) loved it. It’s a brief, Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous-esque piece that’s set in the 70s and has Ken giving advice on how other toys can be cool like him. Of course, the interview becomes awkward when he gets questions on his importance relative to Barbie’s.
If nothing else, the video is worth checking out for the bit of Ken dancing. Also, if you’re somehow not already convinced, Michael Keaton is going to kill as the voice of Ken. So hit the jump already and check out the video. You can also click here to find out what Steve thought about the film when he saw it at ShoWest. Toy Story 3 hits theaters on June 18th in 3D.

Using the magic of kinetic typography, a fan of Mad Men has created a promo for the show’s fourth season using a Don Draper monologue about lipstick from the first season. So if you’re worried about spoilers, no need. It’s a neat little video, but I don’t think Mad Men fans can be more excited for the fourth season than they already are now.
Hit the jump to check out the fan-made promo. The fourth season of Mad Men premieres on July 25 at 10/9c on AMC.
Empire is snapping and tweeting photos of promo posters they’re seeing at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. They’ve already uploaded posters for Gulliver’s Travels (starring Jack Black, Jason Segel, and Emily Blunt), Kane & Lynch (starring Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx), and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Hopefully, Empire will be grabbing more images throughout the festival.
Check out all three images after the jump. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader hits theaters on December 10th, Gulliver’s Travels hits on December 22nd, and Kane & Lynch hits sometime in 2011.

I heard this promo for Lost premiered during the BCS a couple weeks back, but I haven’t been able to find a YouTube upload until now. It’s a really incredible TV-spot, set to Willie Nelson’s cover of “Amazing Grace”. It doesn’t show any new footage (of course), but it’s a minute long and sends us through some of Lost‘s most memorable moments. There’s less than two weeks to go before the premiere of the sixth and final season of the television phenomenon and if you think I’m using that word hyperbolically, I would retort that Lost took TV genre fare to a whole new level. It managed to weave many intricate threads, left no character completely “safe” from death, promoted diversity among an ensemble with not only African-American characters, but Arab, Hispanic, Korean, and that was just at the show’s outset. It’s a show where even if you don’t like the story, you have to appreciate the scope of the storytelling.
Check out the promo after the jump. The final season of Lost premieres on Tuesday, February 2nd at 9/8c on ABC.

“Once upon a time…” begins this new promo for the sixth and final season of Lost and I can’t help but wonder: who is this being told to? There are many ways to describe Lost but I wouldn’t put “Fairy Tale” near the top of the list. Also, even if this were a fairy tale, I doubt it would put your kid to bed and you’d be up for days trying to tell it.
As expected, this new promo shows no footage from the upcoming season but I have no problem with that. Staying spoiler-free on these final 18 episodes is going to be a challenge but I’m definitely up for it. Best of luck to everyone that’s waiting for the DVD.
Hit the jump to check out the promo. The end begins with the Lost season premiere on February 2, 2010 at 8/7c on ABC.

In their typical fashion, Entertainment Tonight promo’d a look at the upcoming trailer for Iron Man 2 and made sure to talk all over it. They’ll have a full report on Wednesday and I can’t wait for them to talk all over that as well. Why enjoy the actual footage when you can sit back and relax to the soothing sound of Mary Hart chirping all over it.
Hit the jump to check out the 25-second peek for the sneak peek at the trailer for Iron Man 2. The trailer itself will be attached to Sherlock Holmes, and yes, I am aware at the ridiculousness of previews of previews of previews.
Update: ET has released a second promo which shows more of War Machine. We’ve added it after the jump.
